Raynan

Name meaning: The name Raynan is of Arabic origin and means "Wise protection".

ROLE: Boss of the Mafia of the Pinks and Purples, Protector. MATE: Winhill (plus, the entire mafia is pretty much one giant love puddle) FAMILIAR: Plantation Pincher Note: A monotone Fae with a mobster accent.

Raynan came from the Shrieking Wilds with his friend Winhill. Tiny mafia don of the pinks and purples. Teeny tiny baby protecc - his home, his dragons, everything nature touches all are belong to him.

He became fascinated with the colors pink and purple because of Aether's ribbons. As an even tinier baby, he was enthralled and always had either his eyes or hands on them when he was allowed to hold or play with them while clinging to papa.

and then when Raynan was ready to leave and venture out into the world, Aether gave his baby his first bow.

Raynan in general has issues with personal space/boundaries. He'll just bust right up into someone's personal bubble without really considering that they might not appreciate the sudden intrusion. (being so smol, he wants to make sure others notice he's there and hear what he's saying to them.) and he doesn't always mean it in a confrontational manner, but that's not always obvious because of his personality and the way he tends to talk. so the reactions he usually gets range from "back the heck off before I end you" to "OH HI A TINY SPOOK WHERE THE HECK DID YOU COME FROM?!" until they get used to him and then it's just like "oh hi Raynan, what's up"



When his former clanmate, Artan, showed up... Raynan nearly squared up to establish dominance over his territory (as he had arrived here "first"), but Winhill held him back before any damage could be attempted.

Winhill, casually holding him back: "I apologize for the boss' enthusiasm... It's nice to see you again. Really."

Artan: "Hun if I wanted to take over your territory, i wouldn't be using violence to do it"

Raynan is most protective of his pinks and purples, so he would be like "BACK OFF, YOU HOOLIGAN!" *FLUTTERS AGGRESSIVELY IN ARTAN'S GENERAL DIRECTION* for a while until he was 900% certain that Winhill was fine with it.

but Winhill would absolutely mostly regard the advances with as much grace as he could for someone who has probably witnessed Abyssa's flirtations on more than one occasion.

AGGRESIVELY FLIRTS

Raynan: D=< "Oh, so that's how you wanna play, is it? If you ain't careful, me and the boys'll be taking you for a ride down the river and sending your mother some flowers. See?"

Winhill: "....boss, I don't think you fully realize how that sounds in this context...."

Artan, deadpan, even for a Fae: "My mother's dead. But a cruise sounds lovely!"

Winhill immediately clasps his hands around Raynan's mouth before the tiny anger boi can say "THEN LUCKY FOR YOU, YOU'LL BE SEEING HER AGAIN SOON" because NOPE NOPETY NOPE NOPE and just starts to drag him away.

Artan's just like "CAAAAAAAAAAAAALL MEEEEEEEEEEEE"



So far, Raynan and Winhill have had two excursions to their birth clan to visit family. The first one ended in a bit of a tiff because Aakesh made a partial joke about George and Raynan interpreted it as an insult to himself and the rest of his clan. Winhill ended up pulling most of the weight to resolve the misunderstanding between them, as would become the usual order of things. The second visit in which Talia joined them to meet her father and brother also resulted in... a bit of a mess once Raynan heard about the Harpy attack connected to a newer Fae addition to the clan. Winhill once again struggled to resolve the initial dispute between them and, despite the occasional misunderstanding afterwards, the issue was largely resolved once the clan vouched for Zinfandel's reformation.


Eventually, during one of their visits to the Glade, it was finally brought to Raynan's attention that his sister, Indrani, missed him more than she let on when he was there. Not only that, but she had been admiring him greatly and attempting to emulate him all this time. In that moment, nothing had made him prouder than seeing how tough his sister turned out. Raynan isn't the best at detecting and understanding most subtleties of communication, so he understood his sister's awkwardness about contacting him and instead took the initiative to sit her down and explain to her that he is never too busy for family if they need him for anything or just want to see him.

"See, my clan and my crew's got good dragons - strong ones - and I trust 'em with my affairs when I ain't there. So, if you ever miss your big bro, you just call on me and I'll knock around anyone who tries to stop you, you hear? We gotta stick together, you know. That's what us mafia do - we're family and you've got a place with me and my crew. No li'l sis of mine's gonna be left out in the cold on my watch."

After that, Indrani admitted to him that she had formed what she called an Auxiliary Monochrome Branch of the Pinks and Purples to work in tandem with Raynan's crew back on the home-front. (In hindsight, this did explain the appearance of monochrome Faes zipping about during his visits.) He is extremely proud of her and her efforts and always looks forward to hearing from her.

Whenever Raynan visits home, he spoils Indrani, her mate, and the kids with presents because he's a responsible boy who wants to make sure they're being taken care of. In fact, he takes care of everyone in his family - his parents, his siblings, their mates, their children, children's mates, children's children - no exceptions. Everyone gets a gift. Each time he returns to the Glade to visit, his family seems to have expanded to the point where he rolls up on Talia's back with a large sack of gifts like Santa on Christmas.

More about Raynan's relationship with his older brother, Kulap, is scattered throughout Sabori's bio. Will be written out here once I get around to actually organizing my dragon bios again.

A small, round box tied closed with a ribbon is dropped on the head of (Messenger rolls dice) Zuzu, falling neatly into her hands a moment later. Attached is a message that reads "Aether is concerned about his son's lack of bows, but I'm out of purple and pink. Hopefully this is satisfactory." Is...is Concerto's handwriting getting worse?

Zuzu decides this will be Raynan's problem, as it involves ribbons instead of Beasts. Raynan sighs and resigns himself to a shopping trip.
