 When people say that war was inevitable, it's usually Warstruck's fault. As a spirit of battle and fate, he watches over mortal conflicts and tilts them, in small but meaningful ways, towards open war. The peace message that came too late because the courier got sick on the road, the ultimatum mis-translated because the senior translator overslept, the scratched itch mistaken for a reach for a weapon -- these are Warstruck's work, his calling.

Despite the violence he creates, Warstruck isn't a malevolent or cruel creature. Rather, he views himself as beyond mortal morality; he is simply a force of nature, an agent of fate. If that fate always seems to be misfortune, well, then that is simply his nature, and he cannot go against his nature.

Even a spirit like Warstruck can't be everywhere, however; thus, he and his mate Battleborn produce new spirits in their own images, sending out their children to oversee and inspire mayhem and slaughter across Sornieth.

Every so often, some hero will wise up and attempt to destroy Warstruck, but these attempts are futile: he is as ethereal as starlight; one could sooner tear the stars from their orbit. And even if someone were to put an end to Warstruck himself, another spirit would soon take his place.

After all, sometimes war is inevitable. Sometimes it's simply in the stars.
