The winds in the wasteland have been picking up the longer you stand here, tugging at your wings in an attempt to pull you away from this desolate place. The world is empty, an endless expanse of flesh and cracked earth that would consume you in an uncaring instant.

You fold them close to your body, tensing as the unusually large Mirror dragon approaches you. Her eyes peer at you from beneath the rim of her goggles, all 4 of them attempting to pry you open.

It is not only the plague-born that are blessed, you know. Mother's favor is unpredictable. I can see who She chooses, who is destined to serve her commands. We have won lands and favor in the cold claws of an ice dragon, or the hot breath of fire. You could be Her soldier, if you were worthy.

You recoil under her extreme focus, a little too similar to her mother's for your liking. Something tells you that despite your protests, this dragon would not take no for an answer. While being Exalted is a great honor, it is not one reserved for your order. Impartiality, and all of that.

It is not meant to be, she decides, turning to face the breeze head on. This land is a harsh one. To follow Mother's path requires the utmost devotion, and your loyalties lie elsewhere.

When you are called, I will be there. One day, you will see what I see.
