The Frozen Pirate Queen

MUTINY

"Ye shall dance the hempen jig!"

A successful buccaneer, Falleen commanded an impressively cutthroat crew that sailed the frigid ocean of The Southern Icefield, targeting the rich merchant ships that travelled to warmer climes to trade. Known for her fierce and exacting nature, the coatl was respected and feared by both peers and enemies alike. She rewarded loyalty and hard work generously, and punished severely those who crossed her, or sought to take advantage of her “generous nature”.

As is the nature of pirates, over time a handful of her company became bitterly jealous of Falleen's achievements, and believed that a female should not be allowed to hold the title of captain. This hostility and lust for power spread among the crew, and came to head in a bloodthirsty battle at sea. While those who had remained true to the captain fought bravely, eventually they were cut down as they took their final stand off the coast of the Fridgid Floes. Falleen's wings were clipped, and she was made to walk the plank, drowning in the freezing ocean that she had once mastered.

But fate had a twist in store for Falleen. As her chilled corpse sank into the inky depths, it was captured in the rotten nets of sea ghoul Dredger, who had been following the battle eagerly. He reanimated the coatl, offering her the chance to sail again and hunt the usurping knaves who had broken the pirate code.

Vengeance now ran deeper than ever in Falleen, and her frozen heart beat only to bring death to those who had wronged her and betrayed the brethren. Besides, the taste of the half-life that she and her undead crew had been offered was hard to turn down, and their greedy and desperate natures longed for more.

Of course, Dredger wasn't helping Falleen out of the goodness of his crusty old heart...he had other reasons for bargaining with the coatl. If he could twist her and drive her ever more towards retribution, then there would be more souls lost at sea for the taking, and he was always hungry...

Captain Falleen and her party went back to work on a frozen wreck of a ship. Now she sails again, visible only in the glacial moonlight. When night falls, the frostbitten pirates get to work, steering towards the scurvy mutineers, hungry for revenge, and cutting down anyone who crosses their path.

The Vengeful Depths

Beware the icy depths of sea at night-
For legends tell of ghostly pirate queens,
Who’s battles they were not prepared to fight.
Their lives were lost to frozen waves, it seemed.

But don’t be fooled - the pirate queen still lives!
A contract for vengeance, justice to come.
To those who keep to the code, she will give,
But mutineers face the dreaded doldrums!

Falleen and her crew, that skeletal bunch,
Rise from the tides when the pale moon shines bright.
A charge from Dredger, an order to crunch,
“Take no prisoners!” - not one, not tonight.

So have caution - please! Do take my advice.
The next time you’re out there, sailing around,
Make note of the sunset, lest you see ice.
For if you spot her, your fate has been bound.

Listen or don’t, but this is a warning-
You won’t be safe until the next morning!
