Name Origin:
Named after Sir Francis Drake, an English sea captain and privateer. Known for being one of the first to circumnavigate the world.

A sea captain who is the head of the ship The Howling Tide.

Youth

____Born alone in the Starwood Strand, Drake was left to fend for himself. The first dragon he met, a Snapper, imprinted on him so much that he can no longer fly, stuck mimicking the first being he came across. Initially passing from clan to clan, he began to despair of ever finding a home before one day he came across a ship near the Lanternlea Port. While the ship itself was in ruins, Drake claimed it for his own and dragged it off, searching for a cove to hide it in. Eventually he found the perfect site near a clan of light dragons.
At first he remained hidden, occasionally sneaking in to find materials he needed before one day being caught by Horus.

____Ready to fight his way out, Drake was surprised when the other offered to help him carry his supplies to the boat dock. At first Drake was suspicious of the other's intentions however Horus showed no signs of interest in reporting him. In fact, he started bringing him the materials so Drake wouldn't have to steal, warning him that the clan's requisitioner was starting to get suspicious of his thievery and was close to setting Araga on the case, the dragon having an uncanny ability to sense the movements of others in his vicinity. For the first time in his life, Drake experienced the feeling of gratefulness. He began to enjoy spending time in Horus' presence, starting to view the other as a friend instead of a tool.

Adulthood

____Once the ship was ready to be tested on the seas, Drake held a small party for himself and Horus to christen the craft, calling her The Howling Tide from the angry seas of his childhood. Before he could set sail, Drake knew he would need to find a crew. Horus helped him find a first mate, suggesting Jaehrik, a wildclaw who had been a member of the Hotaru clan for some time. The other's experience on the seas would be of assistance to his friend, whose captainship was only through the dint of who owned the boat. Jaehrik, in turn, recruited another crew member to assist the group in manning the vessel. While not enough crew for them to be truly effective, they can at least sail the ship.

____While Drake had initially intended to plunder, pillage, and steal from everyone he came across, his time spent with Horus has changed him for the better. While he still does engage in acts of piracy, Drake refuses to target any of the vessels associated with bringing goods to his home clan while also ferrying goods for them and serving as a merchant vessel of sorts. Since he has begun to be tangentially associated with the Hotaru Clan, Drake has begun changing his behavior in an attempt to continue to keep his friend happy.

Jaehrik

____Drake trusts Jaehrik with his ship, which in some ways means more than trusting him with his life (which he doesn't). While Jaehrik has never given him a reason to distrust him, Granuaille has dropped hints which make Drake's suspicious nature go into overdrive when around the other. As a result, he refuses to allow Jaehrik to carry a weapon while going well-armed himself.

____Similar to his relationship with Jaehrik, Drake harbors no trust of his crew member. If anything, he trusts her even less as he would never leave his ship in her hands unless she was prying it from his cold, dead claws. That said, Granuaille does have his ear, something which is almost worse than having his trust.

During his time alone, Drake grew very close to the winged birds which would often fly around his head. As such, he eventually befriended one which would follow him around, repeating what he would say. Unfortunately for others, it also repeats what they say back to him as well...

While initially prepared to be a ruthless pirate captain, Drake has mellowed slightly with Horus' influence. While he does not hesitate to kill those who attack him, Drake does spare those who do not fight, even if they surrendered only upon being confronted with defeat.

Purchasing most of his clothing from the Lanternlea Port, Drake enjoys looking important and drawing attention when he's in town, even though this wouldn't normally make much sense with his career.

Surprisingly, given his love of macaws, Drake is actually terrified of most sea-faring birds, believing them to be bad omens.
