____Granuaille was born to Thordak and Strlitzia. Her birth clan was fairly large. With her mother soon leaving to serve the Arcanist, Granuaille was left without her beneficial influence. Under her father's tutelage she learned how to get what she wanted, no matter who or what she had to trample to do so.
Gaining a reputation in her home clan, she elected to leave to search for another where she could target the unsuspecting inhabitants. Her goals? Power. Control. Wealth.

____Granuaille was caught by one of the beastclans she had attempted to steal from, being imprisoned for some time to learn the price of taking that which wasn't hers. Rather than teach her a lesson, though, it only solidified her desire to gather a crew to use to get what she wanted. Nothing would stop her. Granuaille was able to convince the beastclan to let her leave early by telling them that she was heavy with eggs, not wanting her children to be born in captivity. Not knowing much of dragon biology, the clan released her with warnings of what would happen should she be caught nearby again. Granuaille left but she never forgot what they had done to her; when she came across another clan which rivaled the first, she passed along crucual information about their defenses, hopeful that the intel would lead to them being wiped out.

____Eventually her travels led her to the Hotaru Clan. Initially planning to get what she could and pass through, Granuaille met Jaehrik. He asked her if she would like to join a crew on a ship and, after thinking over her options, she agreed. This was it; her opportunity to kill the captain and gain her own ship that she could then use to plunder and pillage to her heart's content. On a ship she would be able to disappear into the ocean, far from the oversight of any deity since the Tidelord's disappearance. Jaehrik soon forgotten, Granuaille cozied up to the Captain. Once she gained his trust, she would be able to get rid of him and seize control of the ship. Despite her efforts, though, all she's been able to do thus far has been to raise his suspicions with regard to his first mate. Jaehrik distrusts her, that much is obvious from their interactions. Pretending to be innocent and unpresuming, Granuaille bides her time while awaiting her chance.

____Granuaille has no friends in the Hotaru Clan, nor a desire to make any. She prefers to live alone, relying on her wits to stay alive. If she had to name any in the clan who she admires, it would likely be Erik. The other dragon exudes an aura of power and strength, although she would never join his crew. Working beneath another is not a long-term goal of hers. Still, if he were to notice her...

One dragon that Granuaille interacts with on a regular basis is Halphas. The other's spells offer her promise to get Jaehrik out of the way for long enough to gain command and she'll use every bit of leverage she can get. Especially since, to keep The Howling Tide running, she'll need his help.

Granuaille uses her free time to try to learn more about sailing, although Jaehrik is a reluctant teacher.
She otherwise avoids most interactions, preferring her own company over that of others.

Name origin: During a time when most women were denied an education and kept restrained to their homes, pirate Grace O’Malley led a 20-ship fleet that stood up to the might of the British monarchy. Also known as “Granuaille,” or “bald,” for her habit of cutting her hair short, O’Malley was born into a powerful clan that lorded over the coastlines of western Ireland. After taking the reins in the 1560s, she continued a family tradition of piracy by plundering English and Spanish shipping vessels and attacking rival chieftains. Her escapades were legendary—one tale claims she did battle at sea only a day after giving birth—but they also drew the ire of the authorities. She was forced to repel a siege against her stronghold at Rockfleet Castle in 1574, and later did 18 months behind bars after she was captured during one of her raids.

O’Malley resumed her marauding after her release, but more trouble arrived in the early 1590s, when British authorities impounded her fleet. With nowhere else to turn, the 63-year-old buccaneer appealed directly to Queen Elizabeth I for assistance. During a famous royal audience in London, O’Malley portrayed herself as a tired and broken old woman and begged the Queen to return her ships, release one of her captured sons and allow her to retire in peace. The gambit worked, but it seems that “Granuaille” didn’t keep up her end of the bargain—records show that she and her sons continued pirating until her death in 1603.
