Rairye was the first to join Grimme. She was once from a prominent Plague clan until a sweep of fanaticism sent most of those she knew to work directly under the Plaguebringer. That was not a life she wanted for herself, however, so she left her clan and their plans behind. Having been raised in a very well-off lair, Rairye had not learned the proper techniques to fend for herself. In particular, her hunting skills were atrocious, her fishing skills even worse.

Wandering around in the Abiding Boneyard, Rairye scavenged to survive, developing a strange condition or disease that affects her skin, making it mutate and secrete a strange substance that is toxic to most creatures. Rather than circling for days or weeks in search of a way out, she searched for anything she could eat to survive. This meant eating from the rotting corpses of other victims of the Boneyard. Unfortunately for her, she developed a taste for it.

After spending too long lost in the Boneyard, she managed to find her way out while chasing after a marsh rabbit. She wandered around in a daze until Grimme found her and dragged her back to his haunt.

Having been raised by a large, well-to-do clan, Rairye was far more civilized than Grimme, at least after she recovered her faculties from wandering alone for too long. She became Grimme's liaison with the rest of the clan, especially when it was clear Grimme could barely speak.

Before long, they had a son, born with the shared tastes of his parents.
