Pack Member From a line of dragons bred for their surface magic, Epithelius was born one of the successes. The patches of circles over his body delineate how much refined control he has over his powerful abilities. His kin born with other patterns on their bodies reveal different strengths and weaknesses. In his particular line of ancestors, Crackle is the opposite of Ringlets, representing the manifestation of chaotic power. With Epithelius' abilities and carefully bred genetics, he has become quite powerful. The older he gets, however, the more unstable he becomes. By his adolescence, he began disassociating with dragons as a species, considering himself and his kin as something Other. This led him down a dark path to the point where he was eventually exiled from his original clan for his dangerous behavior. The short time he was alone, he began turning on lone dragons wandering through the areas he traveled, removing them from the world because they were not worthy. He got into a fight with Project. He was attempting to remove her from life, but was stopped when her parasite attempted to consume him in turn. Before he lost spectacularly in that fight, Rairye separated them with a swipe, saving Epithelius' life. Though he still doesn't believe many dragons are the same as him, worthy of life, he enjoys the company of these lesser dragons. |
SURFACE MANIFESTATION MAGIC
Tertiary genes on certain dragons represent the strength and control of their magic. They range from little power to more power, refined control over the power or little/chaotic control, and the extent or reach of those abilities. Power means both capacity and strength. Control is how capable the dragon is of using their magic to do intricate spells, and reach means the distance the magic can be used.
Smirch is chaotic with less power but further reach, Contour is streamlined or refined reach with low power, Circuit is chaotic reach with low power, Lace is low power and reach but highly refined.
Scales, Opal and Gembond are condensed high power that manifest in dimensional forms, not just patterns on the skin but growths that have altered the skin itself. Scales is the most refined of the three, Gembond the most chaotic, and Opal somewhere between.
