What stands out most about Oboro is his calm demeanor and his exceptional control of his emotions. He is able to weather any storm without showing any outward signs of distress, and the deep timbre of his voice is quite soothing. He feels most in his element wandering the forest in the darkness of night and often takes such nocturnal strolls. He is logical, yet philosophical, and these walks in the forest are where many of his deepest contemplations take place.

Oboro has always been drawn to the Pearlcatchers marked by runes like his own who live in Sunbeam Ruins. He has often wandered by their homes at both day and night, quietly observing, never interacting, simply nodding and walking off when acknowledged by one of them. Although he never voiced such feelings, Oboro felt as if those glittering letters were calling to him, and to be quite honest, the Imperial was a bit frightened, albeit fascinated, by the attraction. Thus, Oboro continued to seek out the Runecatchers, as they were called, to watch and perhaps learn some of their mysteries.

It was during one of his midnight wanderings through the forest by the river when he felt the pull of those runes. Curious and confused as to why a Runecatcher might be out at such a time in such a place, Oboro followed the call. He was almost on top of the Pearlcatcher before he saw her curled up in a thicket.
The bright aqua female with red eyes and dark azure runes startled at his sudden appearance, but Oboro’s quiet murmuring of an apology calmed her almost immediately. He asked her why she was seemingly hiding in the bushes, and she explained she was there at the request of a friend who was enjoying a romantic night with her mate. Apparently, her runes held a dormant power that amplified romantic feelings, a power that leaked out through some interaction between her runes and pearl.
Oboro felt irrational romantic desires of his own swelling inside him, but he tempered them with practiced ease. He peeked through the bushes to see the silhouettes of a pair of dragons by the river, pearls gleaming beside them. He remarked it must be lonely to be an invisible third-wheel, and offered to stay and talk with the blue Pearlcatcher for the rest of the night. The Pearlcatcher happily accepted, and they talked until the dawn colored the sky and the river pink.

And so that was how Oboro met his mate, Katsura (those romantic desires turned out to be not entirely irrational). He makes a remarkable match, his unwavering quietness balancing out the slightly unstable Pearlcatcher. She has only suffered one breakdown since meeting Oboro, and the other Runecatchers remark that it was the quickest they've ever seen her recover. Several of them are intrigued by Oboro's own runes, and some have proposed that Oboro's extraordinary disposition is influenced by some hidden potential of the markings. Oboro contributes nothing to these theories but is secretly curious himself about the power of dragons' runes, and so allows the Runecatchers to study him as well as examining Runecatchers himself.
