A gentle giant, Hellebore is a permanent resident of the Clan and was the second member to join. He does little to benefit the Clan but he remains a valuable member nonetheless. No one can be as gentle, patient and understanding as Hellebore. Many dragons find themselves speaking to him about just anything that may bother them and he is always happy to lend them an ear. No secrets told to him is ever shared. Throughout the years of the Southwind Clan's existence, he has remained a close friend with the Matriarch, Apholith. Hellebore is certain that if she had not found him by the time she did, he might not have been alive right now. Though there are some dragons who question if it was truly for the best. Many different plants have made their homes on his weakened body and drains him of energy, but removing them risk killing him. But he continues to fight on. He spends most of his days inside the lair or inside Apholith's hidden grove, though occasionally he is helped outside to soak up some sunlight and enjoy the fresh, crisp air.

Hellebore's past is quite a mystery, even to himself. There is little he remembers from before he found himself in the hidden grove. He remembers drifting in and out of conscious in a cavern containing a mysteriously lush grove. His body was severely weakened, both from the lack of sustenance and the many plants growing on his body, but fortunately he was found by Apholith before his body gave up. The female Guardian had been forced into the cavern to take shelter from a terrible snowstorm and it turned out that this hidden grove was the Charge she had been searching for. She took pity on poor Hellebore and decided to help him as much as she could.

Apholith called for the aid of a skilled healer called Izarre, who took it upon herself to keep him alive for as long as he is willing to accept the help. He grew to become close friends with several of the dragons who joined what soon became the Southwind Clan, although he became closest with Apholith. She would always make time during the day to visit him and see that he is alright.

Even if he'd be unable to do much to protect his Charge, which happens to be a torn piece of paper with unreadable text on it, he remains overall respected and cared for by the Clan. His patient and gentle heart is enough to make the others want keep him around. Though there are of course though who'd treat him less respectfully if others aren't around.
Noticeable relationships:

Apholith has grown to become a close friend of Hellebore. Even if she is mostly quiet, Hellebore is always delighted to have her visit him and keep him company. There's rumors that he is in love with her but he has neither denied or confirmed it.

The gleeful Aldwyn is a good friend of Hellebore, and often keeps him company while the Guardian is in the hidden grove. Aldwyn likes to chatter away and Hellebore is happy to listen. Aldwyn is certain that Hellebore is in love with Apholith.

Young Irwing is rather nervous around Hellebore, finding his condition to be unsettling. But Irwing is always respectful to Hellebore and Hellebore is fond of the young Nocturne. He hopes that Irwing will one day grow comfortable to be around him.

Izarre has taken it upon herself to care for Hellebore, on the request of Apholith, and will do so until he no longer accepts aid. He is extremely grateful to the Skydancer and considers her a good friend.

While not requested to do so, Awakened took it upon herself to help Izarre in her new duty of caring for Hellebore. He's extremely grateful to the Ridgeback as well and considers her a good friend.

Hellebore is rather fond of the sweet Ophelia, who Apholith took in as an abandoned egg and raised as her own daughter. Ophelia is often visiting him to bring him food and make sure he's as comfortable as possible. He may even see her as his own child.

While Silver can be rather nervous around Hellebore, the Guardian thinks well of him from what he has heard about the Coatl. He knows that Ophelia has feelings for Silver and he is gently encouraging the two to be together.

Trivia:

• His Charge is a small, torn piece of paper with unreadable text on it. This piece of paper has been hidden within the lair of the Southwind Clan to keep it safe.
• It's uncertain as to why Hellebore is blind. He doesn't even know the reason himself, but he says that he believes that he wasn't born without sight. His eyes show no signs of physical injuries and there are theories that either it is a side-effect of the plants growing on his body or if he might be affected by some strange disease that could originate from the Scarred Wasteland.
• As Hellebore doesn't know how to use magic and his eyes lack color, no one really knows which element he belongs to. There are conflicting theories of him belonging to the Nature or Plague flight, but there are no ways to confirm it. Hellebore cannot give an answer either due to his memory loss.
• While he lacks magic or strength to defend himself, his body is surprisingly endurable in many ways, even if it is generally weak. He was able to withstand a long time without sustenance, the cold doesn't bother him in the least and his scales are impressively tough.
• Despite his gentle nature, there are several of the younger dragons who are fearful of him. It is common for hatchlings to be scared of the gentle giant until they grow used to him. The way many plants sprout out of his body and there are even parts of exposed bone can be quite a lot to see for the young ones. Thus, Hellebore keeps himself away from the nesting and hatchling areas of the lair as much as he can.
• Even if he barely wears scraps of clothing, he refuses to have them removed and has to be bathed with the cloth scraps. He's scared that the plants may be damaged if the clothes are removed.
