Biography
■
gelus ice representative | ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ |

Gelus and justice are curious partners, locked in a complicated dance. One minute, they may be waltzing in perfect harmony, graceful partners, and the next, they're tangoing to opposite ends of the earth, eager to be parted forever. It has always been like this, a back-and-forth love-and-hate whirlwind that never seems to end. There is never a winner in this contest, and there never can be.
Though once, justice came close. The trouble was that Gelus came back.
It was something of his own fault, his imprisonment in the Fortress of Ends. He might not have remembered the dragon's face, but he remembered his smell, reeking of sour grapes and frostbitten flesh, remembered how those smells sunk into open wounds that burst with iron and heat. That was not a scent to forgive, nor to forget. That was a scent to maul without notice, to remove from the world before it had the chance to permeate anything else good and kind. So Gelus attacked.
It was a service, some say. He tore apart one of the cruelest dragons of the Southern Icefield, a dragon notorious for extorting treasure from anyone he took a shine to, trading them bitter injuries for their gold. Or sometimes for nothing at all. Wounds were the only thing this dragon doled out for free.
Still, Gelus attacked him. In public, in broad daylight, without provocation. And this dragon had friends in high places, hefty bags of treasure where it mattered. He had already paid the right dragons to paint him as the victim long before Gelus ever found him, ever took his revenge for their single previous encounter.
So Gelus went to the Fortress of Ends, justice for the assailant. He died there. And then he lurched back to life and shambled out, parting the ice before him with merely a thought.
Since then, he has traveled, trying to get the scent of grapes and rotten meat out of his nostrils. He attempts to be patient and peaceable, as happier results tend to follow, but now and again, when he witnesses the beginnings of justice gone awry, his skin crawls and he itches to change the dance again. Thankfully, Nyx Coven sees little of justice misbehaving, and here he can be at peace. But for how long? How long indeed?
