Asmodeus

Loyal Legionnaire

Perhaps the only University dragon somewhat appreciative of the divide, Asmodeus revels in the fighting it brings. He truly loves combat, and the mechanical goons sent by the Trading Co to flush out any University members give him enough of a challenge that Asmodeus will often give up a prime hiding spot just for a good fight. On one hand, Asmodeus carving his way through Trading Co. forces leaves fewer to hunt other University members down. On the downside, no one really knows if Asmodeus will ever bite off more than he can chew, or how bad the injuries he will return with will be. Asmodeus has gained many new scars from his bloody battles.

No longer covering security, Asmodeus leads the University Legion, a group of battle ready dragons who execute precision strikes against Melira and her Trading Co. Asmodeus and the Nights Five are the best known and most effective members, but they are far from the only one looking for revenge against the Trading Co.

During the time he isn’t fighting, training, or stuck in the infirmary, Asmodeus is not a very social dragon. He much prefers to spend all his time training, fighting, spending time with Lyra or eating, but can occasionally be seen out at bars, usually drinking in a corner. No one knows why and any attempts at casual conversation are rebuffed. Asmodeus is a mystery to most dragons. Only Lyra could tell you that Asmodeus and Xerces used to drink together occasionally and this is Asmodeus’ best way to cope with the fact that his best friend is currently locked away and that his daughter is the one who locked him away.

Asmodeus no longer teaches any official university classes. He does oversee training for the University Legion, as well as recruitment of University Students and graduates. He occasionally steps in to give recruits the most challenging training session they’ll ever face, if the most helpful. As the leader of the Legion, Asmodeus leads from the front. He has others to help with tactics, his place is on the field, leading the troops, and inflicting massive damage on Melira’s creations.

Asmodeus and Lyra are life mates, after Lyra spent a rather unreasonable amount of time and patience convincing Asmodeus that he should consider romance. In private, Asmodeus is very romantic towards Lyra, although he is uncomfortable expressing it in public.

“Yeah, he always comes in and sits in the corner for an hour or two. Usually drinks through an impressive amount.”

“Well, he’s got a lot of mass, that’s probably why.”

“Its enough to drink an imp under the table, mate.”

“Well. That is quite a lot then. Shouldn't that be enough to kill him?”

“Yeah, you'd think. Not sure what it says that our best warrior seems to be trying to drink himself to death.”

“Maybe he fights better like that.”

“You’d think he’d drink before a fight then.”

“Well, either way I can’t argue with his record.”

“True that.”

“I wonder if he’d mind if we joined him. I wouldn’t mind talking to a living legend.”

“Oh no, that’s not gonna happen.”

“I doubt he’s the type to think he’s above us everyday folk, do you?”

“Oh, not at all. But anytime anyone asks he says he wants to be left alone.”

“You asked already, didn’t you?”

“…yes.”

“Hah. Well, we’ll find somewhere else to sit then.”

In the corner, Asmodeus sipped his drink, glad he wasn’t being bothered for once.
