Biography
- one of the wards, sent to clan virulent during ives's reign
- trained in enchantments and spellwork, being studied enough to even manage some ice-magic
- the most logical and even-tempered of his litter, he was ear-marked to be the ward even before he was done his studies
- enjoys learning more than the actual application of his knowledge, almost desparate to know as much as possible
- almost withdrawn, didn't do well with the other wards or lord blackamare's children, all of them rowdy warriors, hungering for attention and glory
- does runework enchantments for the holyhealers and the workshop and the tailory
- studies the aspects of each sub-element to better understand handling it
- maerwynn was a wandering eleven-priest, curious about the religious landscape of virulent
- both of them were into each other's scholarly ambitions, but their relationship was one of convinence, as maerwynn wanted to prevent her being kicked out of the clan during the reign change - and zilean didn't want to be forced into a more diplomatic role like some of the other wards were
- so they got married
- but still they weren't really partners?
- didn't stop them from having kids. neither thought the other actually loved them, bc again, convincence
- communication skills were ABYSMAL
- their first few litters were kind of left to their own devices, and most left the clan
- killed an unclear amount of dragons during the incident
- appears to not have any inbred hinderaces to slow him down when emperor-frenzied (ie like how laistrygonia's jaw immediately locked, or rozena's neck gave out)
a) which is why the couple had some Issues with the deities not giving life to their kids pre-virulent becoming the lightweaver's special little clan
b) this combined with him not being in an area with good visibility or any combat resistance (up in the seepstone branch) is why he was able to go ham
- avoding emerging from the side-cave he was hiding in for hours, so by the time cain got to him, what little evidence he could gather was lost with zilean refusing to play along with the investigation
- zilean hides the fact that he occasionally throws up void magic
- knows FULL WELL what that means but does his best to ignore it
- nevanke feels weird about ilgeslys living in their apartment but zilean is weirdly invested and defensive about her for some reason
