Most dragons understand that the oceans outside the Sea of a Thousand Currents are outside of the Tidelord's domain. They can be dangerous places, where things that couldn't thrive in the region Water flight controls rule in their turn. The cold seas surrounding the Southern Icefield are some of the most dangerous, and the most mysterious. Within its freezing waters, there are depths unplumbed by no dragon, ancient treasures, strange relics, and stranger beasts. There are things trapped within the glaciers that once swam those waters, things which those who find them sincerely hope were the last of their kind. In some places, there seems to be no ocean floor, only an endless depth that gets deeper, and colder. Sometimes the dragons who venture down where even the light no longer reaches come back different...

Leviathan's appearance, like many of the Winter Court, is bestial, primordial, a throwback to some less evolved ancestor, or perhaps something that was never a dragon at all. He is sleek and streamlined, but with sandpaper rough sharkskin, dark colors broken by luminescent scales, gills, and sharp-tined fins. He spends more time in the water than out of it, often visible only as a long shadow moving under the ice, seemingly unbothered by the freezing temperature. Occasionally he brings up strange things, long forgotten and locked under the ice. he likes to attire himself in odd jewelry, water-darkened metal bedecked with pearls, and ragged, saltworn silks. Looking him in the eyes is an uncomfortable experience, and most dragons choose to look away before they're forced to face the flash of something, deep and dark, that rises from their depths. It's an open secret that Borealis uses him as an emissary to what lives in the depths, and most of the clan tries to avoid the sea level cave which Leviathan uses to enter and exit the lair by water, for fear of encountering something he brought, or that followed him, back.
"I can call spirits from the vasty deep."
"Why, so can I, or so can any man;
But will they come when you do call for them?"
