Hidden Depths

The deep blue oceans of Sornieth are home to a great variety of creatures, and one of the more mysterious and lesser known beings are the Tide Shifters. These individuals are water dragons said to have ancient blood in their veins, descendants of the first of their kind created by the deity of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and blessed with strange gifts of transformation.

In her natural form, Lagoona is a sleek coatl with shimmering, gem-like scales, though she is adept at turning into sea creatures of many different shapes. Her favourite is the guise of a beautiful maren female, with glittering sea-green tail and a cloud of dark blue hair. In this maren form Lagoona is welcomed into most local merfolk pods, and though they know she isn't truly one of them, over the years she has earned their trust, and the coatl spends much of her time in their underwater villages.

When she isn't exploring shipwrecks for lost jewellery to wear or playing with the maren, Lagoona enjoys visiting New Atlantis. The scholars and priests there are fascinated by her shifting abilities, and treat her with great reverence, making her a guest of honor whenever she stays. Refined and gracious, but with a deep mistrust of the land and it's inhabitants, Lagoona tends to stay away the coastline, though she does sometimes go beach combing to look for landlubber treasures. Those lucky enough to meet her come away feeling they have been touched by true water magic, and never forget the experience.
