Biography
It was with hopeful expectations that Astrid first entered the clan. In order to find greater opportunities elsewhere, she had left the lair in which she was born and travelled far and wide to find the clan that she felt suited her best. Shockingly, this gentle Coatl found herself inexplicably drawn to Plague territory, and eventually to a clan which, at the time, was almost entirely comprised of Coatls. Though she wasn’t exactly sure why, from the moment she set eyes on them, she knew that they were the match for her. Not long after, she would learn why.
When a male Coatl by the name of Paragon found and entered the clan, the two almost immediately fell for each other. She believed that fate had brought them together. However, while Astrid never once regretted her decision to enter this clan, she very often felt that she and Paragon should have left it long ago. When their first clutch of eggs hatched, Astrid doted on her children and cherished each of them. She was a good mother, naturally caring and devoted to ensuring the safety of her offspring. She could not protect them from clan politics, though. Two of her sons were quickly bargained off to other clans in order to procure riches in return. It was a common practice, but it hurt nonetheless. Paragon and their remaining daughter, Hilda, tried to comfort Astrid, but she was inconsolable for quite some time. She missed her children and fell into a depression when she learned that she would never again see them. This became even worse once her mate overheard the clan speaking of how Jotunheimr, who was leader at the time, was planning to force Hilda into another clan, as well.
Paragon could not stand to see his mate in even more pain, and so he challenged Jotunheimr. He ultimately lost the battle and was beaten quite thoroughly, but in a show of mercy, Jotunheimr allowed Astrid and her mate to keep their daughter. Paragon was anything but grateful, though. Astrid begged him to leave the clan, believing that their small family could find someplace better, but her mate refused. He had always been ambitious, but now Paragon sought vengeance. He wished to see their leaders fall, and in the end, he received his wish. When a female Wildclaw named Svikja took leadership of the clan, Astrid felt intimidated by the new matriarch’s vicious personality, but her mate eventually won Svikja’s trust. He became her advisor, and their family’s lives immediately improved.
---
Astrid is a kind Coatl who is one of few within the clan without ulterior motives. She simply wishes to live in peace with her family. The loss of her children still sometimes haunts her, though. She refuses to have anymore offspring, as she is too afraid that she will lose them, as well. Paragon is in agreement, also deeply scarred by the incident, though he would never openly admit it.
