Hilda was born into a family drama which would effect her for the rest of her life. Her first memories were of parents who were loving and nurturing, and of two twin brothers who she shared a special bond with. For a while, her life was perfect. Once the young Coatl could register what the world was doing around her, however, her life began to deteriorate. Before the change in leadership, the practice of bargaining off the youth of the lair was one that was widely accepted. It was not at all uncommon for a dragon's young to be sent away in order to gain riches for the clan and allow their parents' lineage to grow, and it was rather unheard of for someone to be opposed to the practice. Therefore, when Hilda's parents refused to comply with the clan's traditions, chaos ensued. Her brothers were taken by force and sold to other clans where she would never lay eyes on them again. An attempt to take her was also made, but her enraged father attacked those who were in charge at the time and though he was badly beaten, he succeeded in earning her right to remain. Her mother was traumatized, though, and while Hilda tried to comfort her, Astrid was never really the same again. And neither was Hilda. |

For some time, her existence was tormented by her mother's depression, and by the guilt of feeling that she perhaps could have taken one of her brothers' place. Her father continuously tried to assure her that they would not trade her for the world, but she still felt incredibly guilt-ridden and subjected herself to solitude in order to cope. She swore never to have children of her own, lest they be subjected to the same unfortunate fate. Eventually a light entered her life in the form of her parents' succession to higher ranks. A change in leadership occurred, and her father became the matriarch's advisor. Hilda was pampered and doted on by all, and against her expectations, she even found herself falling for one of the clan's newer recruits, Reginn. With her family's status within the clan secure, the two decided to have a child of their own. Hilda's difficult childhood had left it's scars, though. Despite so much time having passed since the loss of her brothers, she has never stopped looking for them. She sometimes will even leave the clan in order to trek through Ice territory, searching desperately for them until Paragon or Reginn are forced to find and drag her back home. |
