Russanol

Raised a wind dragon, Russanol couldn't imagine a location worthy of guarding, and had only slightly less difficulty imagining an object worthy of such permanence. Because of this, he set out on his Search convinced to find an individual both worthy of and in need of protection.

He never expected to fall for her once he found her.


Having dedicated himself to his mate, Russanol nevertheless feels the need to try and protect other worthy individuals where he can. This was how he met his companion, Cero, and what eventually made him a good clan patriarch.

Mild tempered, Russanol's size has enabled him to shrug off threats over the course of his life. As such he's actually a much bigger risk taker than he appears to be. His calm personality just fools others into thinking he's seen the danger and planned for it already.

(Note, his Familiar is a male, regardless of appearances, I wrote him as a guy with this hair.)

Cero was unable to fit in with his fellows as a young Serthis and left before he could be killed, wandering away from Serthis occupied territory into the Reedcliff Ascent. He was rewarded with prey unused to Serthis hunting style, and fell asleep sunning himself after a meal.

He woke to find a guardian, of all dragon species, looming over him.

Terrified, the young serpent fell off the rock and curled up beside it, realizing there was nowhere to run in the clearing that the dragon wouldn't be able to catch him long before he reached safety.

However, Russanol wasn't the fight-and-hunt loving type many plague dragons are. And, being curious to a fault, he asked why Cero was not with his clan. Not sure what else to do, Cero tells him, and is confused to receive sympathy instead of being labeled an easy meal.

The guardian had been traveling alone for some time, and offered the young Serthis a traveling companion as they both sought their purpose in life. Fully expecting to be eaten later, Cero nonetheless agreed, curious himself.


Years later, Cero is a valued senior member of Russanol's clan, and his best friend. He is the last line of defense for the clan's eggs and hatchlings, and has adapted his potion brewing knowledge to kill more than just dragons.

The serpent looks back on their chance encounter fondly, and, when asked, is mildly offended that some dragons think he might still have lingering loyalty to his fellow Serthis. This is his home, his clan, and he will kill to defend it. There was never any reason to believe otherwise.
