Crimea

Crimea is an inquisitive child, and had barely learned to walk when she began seeking answers about the world around her. When trying to wander off only threw her mother into a panic and had her father dragging her back, she changed tactics to asking questions.

Her name she took from a story her mother told her, of a strange world where dragons could change their shape, and walk among animals with the same power, and strange beings called 'men'.

Fascinated by the idea of different races working together, and part of a family with two people oriented guardians, she immediately set about finding a partner she could befriend and share her adventures with. Seeking out a the most misunderstood creature her small are of experience could conjure up, she came home with a frightened Bone Fiend.

Unlike most parents, her father let her keep it.

Crimea’s decision to behave and keep her parents from getting upset at her again didn’t keep her from being a mischievous child for long. Instead of wandering away, she settled for just wandering off; far enough to chase down interesting animals or insects, but close enough to hear her mother call for her and call back.

Needless to say, Saleir and Russanol had to drag her out of trouble many times, as she kept finding creatures bigger or stronger than her in her adventures, and needing to be rescued.

After the first few days, her guardian sister began to tag along on these adventures, and Crimea, after loosing her the first time, mellowed out the trips to keep from being pouted at again.

With each new adventure, the sisters became more and more convinced they would never know everything there was to know about the world confined to the Zephyr Steppes, and they made a pact to explore the world together once they were old enough to make the journey.

The day finally came, some time after learning to fly in awkward adolescent bodies, where both sisters, fully grown, felt the call of adventure too strongly to stay earthbound any longer.

Crimea was determined to see the whole world, every element and flight must have wonders they are hiding. And her sister would accompany her for as long as it took to find her charge.

Both girls agreed to spend their last day with their parents, and the young clan went kite flying together for the last time.

Saleir cried when her hatchlings told her they were going to leave, but Russanol smiled and told them that all hatchlings leave the nest to wander the world, especially those of the wind clan.

He wished them well, and told them that, no matter how far away they traveled, they would always be welcome back home.

Crimea was a bit teary eyed herself at this point, but promised her mother she’d be careful, thanked her father, and watched as her sister did the same. Then both girls took to the wind, and their adventure began.
