Stikla
Earth Flight - Pirate (Captain)

Resourceful / Aggressive / Tense

Born a Guardian and a near orphan as her parents deserted her not soon after birth, taking her siblings in their wake, Stikla knew how fierce the world could be from the day of her hatching. Earth dragons normally would be ones bound the most by ties to their clan and relatives, but Stikla was without any to speak of.

Thankfully, being a young Guardian, she did have enough size and strength to quickly establish a small amount of safety and continued food supplies for herself, but the environment was still harsh. She was too young to feel comfortable approaching other dragons for aid, however, and even more frightened of BeastClan members.

As she became a young adult, she felt pulled away from her small lair in search for a "charge". She detested the feeling, but it did bring her out of the more hidden areas of Dragonhome. Stikla started to wander south, past Plague's realm and into Water's, and this is where she began her love affair with the "world of piracy".

The Sea of a Thousand Currents was kind to her dry scales, and she enjoyed staying there for as long as she could, but the paradise was also known to house some "unsavory" characters. Said characters surprised her one night as she slept.

Nearly snapping their legs off, she asked the smaller dragons what they were doing.
The Nocturne and Fae duo that had been caught fearfully explained to the larger Guardian their roles in life-- they had a love of the seas, and of danger, and of profit-- and so, they sought the life of piracy. "It was a common enough job for dragons such as ourselves," they said.

Intrigued, Stikla threatened them with injury should they not take her back to their captain, and so the two meekly brought Stikla back to a main pirate-hub in the Sea of a Thousand Currents.
Now here, many dragons would gather, but it was a rather hidden location. Only those "in the know" knew where the hub was. Veterans and novices alike would come here to share stories and seek companions for their quests and goals. Latest rumors about treasure hoards were a prized topic of conversation for example.

Stikla, having always been left to herself, seemed to think perhaps joining in such a life would give her some stability-- or at the least, strike fear into those that would come to harm her.

The story of her finding an old pirate captain (unrelated to the duo that she terrified) and managing to swing them into aiding her tutelage for the role is an odd one, but to put it simply, she loved her mentor dearly, and took all they said as law. Her mentor was one of the few to see her softest emotions, and that mentor also tattooed Stikla's wings with a fierce warning flag, at her request. This mentor figure was a bit more honorable than most pirates, and warned Stikla that falling into greed would only "lose one to the Shade" in the end.

It was also during this time of tutelage that Stikla was granted scrolls to change her body and her patterns. She was freed from the bonds of "charge-dom" that Guardians would face, and she gained a much better ability to fly as well. Ridgebacks were large, but their bodies were more lithe than a Guardian's, after all. Thankfully, since she was not born a Ridgeback, she also did not posses their common fear of water.

A short time after she had accomplished much in the ways of pirate-learnings, the mentor passed away, and Stikla had hardened towards the world. She did have a companion (and mate) in the Spiral known as Marquis, whom she had met in her time with her mentor, but other than that, she was alone.

Without other "crew" members, Stikla and Marquis fled to the south upon an ill-fated venture causing them some trouble. They had no ship at this time to sail in, and a meager amount of funds. A dragon known as Apophis saw the two struggling and managed to drag them back to the Southern Icefields, to his clan, but was unable to get much information from the two. Angrily, Stikla accepted the clan's pleas for her to remain with them as she and Marquis healed, for she knew to travel elsewhere when so wounded (and in trouble) would be a death-sentence.

She has grudgingly began to enjoy clan-life however, and has been granted a larger amount of freedom than most in terms of comings and goings due to her "job's" nature. Stikla only brings Marquis with her on these outings and dealings however, and sometimes a hatchling or two if she has any at the time.
