Born the only girl amongst four brothers, she was determined to prove herself at every turn. Softness? Kindness? No room! Trinkets and ribbons had no place in her small bit of hatchery-den. She inherited not only her looks from her mother, but her harsh attitude as well. Or at least it seemed, considering that her brothers sometimes mumbled that as their backs were turned she would sneak away to admire some tundra flowers... but say that around her and you would have a hand-claw at your throat. The young Ridgeback had no fear of the water, perhaps due to her own mother's origins as a Guardian, and found herself a friend of the cold atmosphere of the ice-lands. When she managed to fly off by herself, some of the clan would say they could hear her strange sing-song voice carry across some of the isle-peaks found within the pockets of lakes around the territory. On one such lone-excursion, she had returned with some scars. Had she been fighting? The scars appeared to grow more in number every day. At last, hiding her left eye from her parents, she stated she wished to depart from the home clan. They admired her for that, striking out a small bit later than her siblings, but her father keenly observed in his daughter that it seemed she had lost her eye under that claw. The ice winds embittered her, as she became known to some in the area as a ghostly figure. Only her Crimson wings betrayed this illusion of disappearance within the snows. She started to fly farther out, curious about other regions, and soon the residents of the nearby lands stopped seeing the crimson "flag"... |
