Territorial disputes have ravaged the lands for years. The Fire Flight dominated in the south. A colony of Banescales were nesting when Azazel's Legions forcibly claimed territory. With great casualty, survivors fled north to hide in the shadows.

The city of Obsidia was then manifested along with its guardian, Zalaam, neither benevolent, nor malevolent. The shadows provide protection for those that seek it.

The Banescales formed a council, led by Apocalypse.

Vowing to never undergo such a harrowing experience again, the council begun performing alchemic "experiments" that would allow Apocalypse to grow in power. But as the law of equivalent exchange goes - to obtain, something of equal value must be lost.

Apocalypse lost the ability to form coherent thought patterns and whenever she draws power, it is directly sourced from the members of the Council - greatly crippling them during such times. However, this did not stop them from continuing to "collect" powerful specimen to "exchange" for power.
