The world is on fire.

With magic gone haywire and the dieties in apparent slumber, dragonkind was left to their own devices. It wasn't long before things began to go wrong, with dragons finding themselves feeling lost without their Flight leaders. Dominance slowed in all Flights as things were sorted out.

All except Fire.

Under new leadership from a dragon government, Fire remained as strong as ever. When an idea sparked that this was the chance to prove their strength, a movement that extended far beyond typical dominance began.

It was a shock to the entirety of Sornieth when Lightning was overtaken. No one saw the attack coming. Fear spread throughout the land as new era of dragonkind began.

Now not only well armoured but with machinery to back them up, the ranks of Fire were formidable indeed. Wind fell to the blazing onslaught, and much of Sornieth followed in the space of several years. The death count grew, as did the ranks of the Empire of Fire.

Now only Ice and Water remain free, and their borders shrink day by day. The Empire reigns with an iron fist, and many dragons have either sworn their loyalty to it or given up hope. It seems impossible that anything could topple this war machine.

Yet within the lands of the conquered, unrest stirs in the hearts of many. From ancient dragons who lived long before the war to young drakes born under the blazing banner, there are those that long to see the land restored to it's freedom. Within back rooms of taverns and secret caves, meetings are held in hushed whispers. Whispers of liberty. Of equality. Of lands no longer charred by the evidence of Fire's presence.

Of rebellion.

And so the Uprising has been born. Members of all flights, even deserters from the conquerors themselves, have banded together to topple the regime. The time has come to rise up, the fight tooth and nail for the future of Sornieth.

This reign of Fire must come to an end.

Our story begins... Chapter 1
Flowering Marketplace, Everbloom Gardens

It's a gorgeous day as the marketplace bustles below the gleaming sun. The sweet perfume of the flowers decorating nearly every stall wafts through the air, enticing buyers to come and spend their money on this or that. Many wares here are native to the Viridian Labyrinth, although a few stall sell items from elsewhere. The Flowering Market is unchanged, the same as it has been for many years.

Except for the banners that depicted a fiery emblem, and the armoured dragons that would occasionally walk by on patrol.

It was things like these that were a painful reminder of the power they were ruled under, along with the scorch marks still visible on the Behemoth, even from this distance. It had been several years since Nature had fallen under the Empire's influence, but the tree had yet to be fully healed, even with all the expertise of the dragons residing there. Rumor had it that the Majesty had forbidden them from healing it, leaving it as a glaring reminder of the power of the flames.

While many dragons have come to accept their new way of life, most wish for things to be as they were. In fact, there seems to be a surprising number of dragons in the Market now with a sense of unrest. Perhaps chance, perhaps fate.

All it would take is a little push, and these dragons may no longer be law abiding citizens of the Empire of Fire...
Dragons are now free to roam the market and interact.

But she couldn't ignore this feeling of unrest- the Fire Flight ruled this place, and it was bad. She was a Water dragon, and she got a lot more weird glares from the Fire Flight dragons- as if she would try doing something at any moment. And they may be right- she didn't like this, and she had a feeling that the instant she could do something about it, she would. She admired the flowers of a nearby stall, checking her pockets for any spare treasure. She wasn't surprised to find almost none. She sighed and walked on aimlessly, having no idea what she would do.

His eyes flicked from stall to stall, then up to the charred remains of the Behemoth. He felt the anger twitching inside of him, over the Fire Flight's tyranny. Part of him desired to do something about it, however his clan called to remain neutral. He strode up to a stall and purchased a pouch of herbs to help release his fury over the subject. However such a thing didn't help, as the entire marketplace crowd seemed to be on the brink of a frenzy as well. Thankfully, the skydancer had brought his sword in case of an ...event... such as this. Magical energy simmered in the air. Narcosis drifted unseen around the clearing, just absorbing the scrumptious substance. She seemed to have over indulged herself too much as one trip through a merchant knocked the poor fella out cold, possibly dead. Several dragons gasped as the they saw the merchant melt to the ground, scales now ashen, and their eyes lifeless. "Oops!" the dragon giggled, unperceived by everyone around her.

He kept his head lowered, though from time to time, he could see the sullen faces of other dragons. He could almost feel their sadness. Many of their homes, which once stood tall, have been reduced to mere ashes. Despite being many years since Flame's victory over Nature, destruction could still be seen. If one looked closely, you could see embers still rising from the rubble. At least the marketplace was fine. He maneuvered through the crowd, careful not to draw too much attention to himself. He exchanged a passing glance with the various vendors that were set up. Tyrion couldn't understand how anyone could be making money during a time like this. They should be doing something! Everyone should just be doing... something! The lack of action made his blood boil, and seeing those hot-headed guards didn't help. The temptation to simply attack was great, but he figured he'd be the only one to make a stand, which would lead to his demise. Tyrion approached one of the vendors, who appeared to be selling a variety of medicines. He searched for something that might calm him for the moment, but found nothing of the sort. Despite that, he continued to browse, keeping himself distracted.

Underneath his goggles, his eyes would narrow slightly every time they came across one of the armored guards. He'd helped build that armor. Maybe not one of these specific sets, but he'd helped build the armor that the Fire flight had used to take over this area. Snapping out of his thoughts, Tordenvaer realized that he was missing a certain Plague Coatl. Instantly, the Wildclaw turned around to see his 'missing' partner. Monocyte came running over to where Tordenvaer stood, clutching a fistful of flowers that looked rather poisonous. "Got what's needed. Go now?" the newcomer asked his friend. His voice went through a small range of pitches as he spoke. Being a Coatl, he was still getting used to speaking Draconic and not Coatl-tongue, so he sounded rather awkward most of the time. Tordenvaer simply nodded; his thoughts had once again drifted to the Fire guards. Realizing his partner was contemplating something, Monocyte redirected his abomination of eyes to the other customers. He decided that he would try to talk to one of them if Tordenvaer spent too long thinking.

The goggles perched on his face cover the dark purple eyes marking a shadow dragon. Though conquered many years ago, he still notices the shuffles to move away, the turn of a head to avoid eye contact, from the fire dragons. His old allegiance was never one that gave off trust, but they could only spread tall tales. A pair of guards eye him from the crowd, making the redish wildclaw hurry along. He'd tried giving his services to the Empire before, learning the smithing trade. However, because of his eyes he was always passed over by well-known forges. Eventually, he'd given up and wandered, gathering information. In his travels, he'd come across the small fae now hiding between his heavy wings. The crowd ahead was denser, and he knew that meant hiding the fae would be harder. He spotted a stall with silks and cloth nearby and picked his way towards it. The skydancer who ran the stall was shouting at passersby about her items. Before the trader has time to address him, he plucks a red cloth from its place and covers his companion. They exchange a short conversation, with Invernale making up a lie about carrying his kid on his back. The skydancer doesn't press farther when he produces a small pouch of coins. The white scales make that impossible. She quietly cursed her coloring, as she peaked out between Invernale's neck and wing with her pale ice eyes, trying to observe the crowd. Her eye catches a denser clump of dragons farther ahead, curiosity threatening to pull her out of hiding. A claw taps away as she ponders what's happening but knows it's too dangerous to investigate. The scene is suddenly taken out of her vision, replaced with a post of a vender's stale. The sight doesn't last long, as red fills her vision. Zilla calmed down slightly with the solid color all she could see. She listened to the friendly conversation that passes between the trader and Invernale, nodding approvingly at the lie. She wasn't in a position to argue, plus her size made it an easy story to pass if they could only see a small form.

Invernale picked his way through the stalls.

Makora happened to be operating the stall. She was watching the soldiers warily.

"What herb?" She asked Goldenrod, tapping the rebel code gently on the table with her claws.

After buying the herbs, Goldenrod walked to Wolfcry and noticed him looking at a Pearlcatcher. Surreptitiously, she unfurled the paper. It was encrypted in some secret code. She deciphered it.
