Her clanmate Whirligig had been just far enough ahead at the time that he didn't see the collision and so he continued on his own path near the outer edge, completely oblivious of his increasing lead. Oasis held her breath, afraid that at any moment something would happen—perhaps Whirligig would trip himself, or notice the mass of other skaters splayed on the ice and turn around to help—that would prevent the other ridgeback from winning. She unconsciously leaned forward in her seat as her clanmate neared the finish line still ahead of the other competitors and shot up with an incredulous and jubilant shout as he crossed before anyone else. He slowed his pace and scanned the crowd of onlookers as he glided along the ice, then broke out in a grin and offered her a cheerful wave when he located her. "You won!" She tried to yell at him, but her voice was lost in the noise surrounding them. Unaware of her message, he merely gave her a last wave and turned to gaze around the rink instead, taking in the sight with the focus of the race now out of the way. Noticing the medics that were fussing over most of the other skaters once they'd crossed the finish line, Whirligig headed back towards them. Oasis sighed, knowing he would want to find out if everything was alright and offer whatever help he could provide. She couldn't begrudge him his niceties on this occasion though, given that he'd somehow completed his competition without botching it.

Oasis' eyes widened as she saw the crash of skaters on the inside edge of the course from her spot in the stands. None of them appeared seriously injured, but for several long, drawn-out seconds it was a confusion of tangled limbs as everyone scrambled to right themselves and get back in the race.
