The old man came right home covered in snow, and his nose red as a rose. "I'm sorry I was not able to get any rice" "Oh dear, what happened to your hat! Get in before you catch a cold." More worried over her husbands health than celebrating the New Years, she brought him in and made him something warm. They both fell asleep warm and together that night. In the middle of the night, climbing up the tall hill where the woman and man lived, 6 loud voices chanted in rhythm as a 7th squeaky one tried to keep up. "Where's the old man's house?…Where's the old man's house?" The sounds of the wooden cart crunching snow, the jingle of rope covered bells cut and echoed with their chant across the crisp air. "Where's the old man's house?…Where's the old man's house?" The old woman and man where stirred by this chanting. Both looked at one another in silent confusion. Their old white hairs standing on ends as the 7 voices grew louder…and louder! "Where's the old man's house?…Where's the old man's house?…Where's the old man's house?!…Here's the old man's house!!" … … … … … There was nothing but the sound of the moaning roof holding the pounds of snow on it's roof and the old couples brath. …………But then……… THURAAAD!!!!!!!!! The whole house shook as they heard a roaring thunder crack right in front of their house. The snow from the roof slid off shaking the whole foundation of their home. The old couple hid underneath their blankets fearing the worse. As the wood stop crying with it's squeaks and moans the old couple poke their heads out of their blankets to make sure there was no cave in. They ran to the door and flung it open as fast as they could to see what caused that huge roar. Staring back at them was a feast of rice, dried fish, vegetables that would help them get through the rest of the winter, and the early weeks of spring. The sun arms yet hugged the world, but in the shadowy distance the old man's poor eyes spotted what he thought where 6 tall travelers… …and a little child with an oversized hat whom stopped in their tracks to turn around and wave goodbye. That New Years was celebrated with old man and woman making all the rice cakes as they wanted with the rice they where given, They made so much that they shared with all their friends. And when they traveled to them, they went to the 7 child gods to give them their earned share too. For the rest of their years in rain and shine they'ed return to this shrine and take care of the 7 guardians, and in return, the guardians blessed them with health and a happily ever after. --------------- --------------- --------------- I hope this inspires you all to make your own stories, find stories, and more imporantly never be afraid to share them just like Windsinger and his children. If there are any interesting facts from the actual story of A New Direction you want to point out, mention them in this thread and ill put them underneath the lines! View this as a big note sheet for everyone. --------------- --------------- --------------- an amazing thread where the dev / mouse lord posted in

I am in LOVE with the idea that the FR gods can disguise themselves as regular dragons, just like the gods of ancient Earth mythologies could disguise themselves as regular humans.
Can they?
Why would the Windsinger order their own figurine delivered to them?
Good question. I hope this helps everyone feel inspired to make their own myths and fables!

The Windsinger being able to disguise themselves into any form they please actually really fits in with the theme of a lot of traveler gods in stories. They're pretty much said to physically walk the world and interact with the people they meet, and the people they do meet tend to realize long after the fact "oh!... I met a god." Which is kinda what we did with this story. "Oh! Edgar met the Windsigner." Aequorin is just trying to throw us off, shh! Let the belief ring strong! The Windsinger is among us!

Other possibilitie: The young spiral was the Twisting Crescendo him-/herself, who turned into a spiral dragon. This would explain why the spiral danced so easy in the air and danced without the wind! Also it would explain why he/she got the windsinger idol. She/He got it from windsinger as a warning that she should turn back to a Crescendo. Which she/he did but she/he didn't like that warning and so she just made herself backwards. This would also explan why she wasn't their anymore, when the storm was back.

Edit:
Who says the spiral youth is a 'he'? ;)
If the sprial youth is the Windsinger in disguise... I actually had to go back and check the original lore just to make sure, but wow, the Windsinger is literally the only deity to not have any pronouns or gender attributes mentioned! I am so, so in support of genderfluid Windsinger, I can't believe that's something no one has noticed before!
------------------
The sorrowful, crumbling remains of the final vestiges of peace between the elemental flights. It's mentioned several times, quite clearly, that it's harder for dragons to fly in still air. I've seen some people dismiss these statements by saying the Wind dragons were just shocked and grieving, and they certainly were, but there is definitely more going on here. For example: • • • ((THREAD HERE))

Quote: The young spiral was the Twisting Crescendo... :)
i don't trust this, its your job to throw us off..hmm
That's the opposite of what Aequorin does. She provides as much truth as she is able to all of you. We rely on her speaking honestly with players. Please continue with your regularly scheduled discussion.
don't do that

Windsinger identifies as male. Probably [s]darn [/s]
A floating array of kites and platforms, crafted and maintained by the oldest clans in the region. Of the set, the largest kite resembles the Windsinger himself, his laughing visage constructed out of leather bladders and sturdy paper sails. Reed balconies and walkways connect each disc to the next, creating a giant slithering community in the sky.

Okay but the twisting crescendo disappears, and the spiral appears. "Windsinger" goes to the spiral. The spiral doesn't want to see "Windsinger", but when they do, the Twisting Crescendo comes back when the spiral disappears.

I love the idea that the Spiral was the Twisting Crescendo. Though with that last quote I think instead of the Crescendo not wanting to see the Windsinger, it was the exact opposite. They wanted Windsinger to return. So, they stopped their task and turned into a Spiral slightly resembling the Windsinger, hoping it would draw attention. Remember, Windsinger according to the forums has been at the Wyrmwound for a long time, I think he sent that statue to say "Soon." I mean, if they didn't want to see the Windsinger, why would they say "Thank you" to Edgar right before they turn back?

Wait aren't all the gods using gendered pronouns for convenience? (Plus the whole breeding system for male/female kinda needed one so choose the one that would make sense? Sorta?) Also, that lil statue gave Edgar the energy/strength/will to fly in the dead air If we follow the Spiral is the Crescendo theory, then the dancing spiral was low (relatively speaking) on energy and noodlenerd sent the statue as an energy restoration? Hence shortly after, heyo Crescendo? And becoming a spiral was the visible way of showing "low energy" to the great windsock? "The spiral plucked the packaged from Edgar's claw" A+ typo lol
--------------- --------------- --------------- <–––– Lore book 3 ––––> Lore book 5 Lore Buddies Main Hub. So for those who can watch a video right now, I will provide a video link to this story. But for those who can't, sit back and enjoy this fable called:

The Child Gods
SdHuYK0.png

It was New Year's Eve in a humble cottage lived a poor elderly man and his wife.

bwHPowX.png

The next day would be New Year's
yet they had no rice for the rice cake.

"Without rice we won't be greeting the New Year properly." Said the old lady.

eW4aYt4.png

The elderly lady searched for some old clothing in their storage boxes.

9h0T0Ob.png

"We can sell these."
"We've got no choice."
Agreed her husband.

N44cHBO.png

It was decided the old man would take the old clothes to town to sell them

"Alright I'm off my dear!"
"Now, now, you take care now my love and stay warm."

A3XuDoX.png

"Fare Thee well"

And the old man took off to the direction of town.

InONbu8.png

When the old man reached the outskirts of his village he came face-to-face with seven child guards that guarded the village.

unLGqAu.png

The guards are known as Jizo whom protect travelers and children. But outside of their little red robes, these rock bodied guardians where as cold as the ice around them.

"Out here in the snow?…The poor things…" The elder mumbled to himself.

SCbCtI4.png

"You must be cold." The old man spoke to them as he went and cleared each of their heads of snow.
"But I have nothing to offer you - except my humble apologies."

lPppGbn.png

The old man bowed then proceeded in the snow to the village.

smP7RpS.png

After an long cold hours of walking in the snow, at last! He had reached the town.

xX5j8lT.png

He set up his shop in the middle of town square. It bustling and full of life. His soul full of fire and hope the old man shouted with cheer as he beaconed passerby's to come to his little stall.

"Come! Feel this fabric! That's quality! Quality! How bout it, how bout it!"

FTf3Opf.png

However everyone was busy on New Year's Eve and no one paid any attention to the old man's cries.
He stayed up till the late hours of the night until every shop closed down and the markets dried up.

TXgotOZ.png

All too soon came the dawn and still the old man had not sold a single piece of clothing.

Y5vQWWv.png

"Not even a half a coin to buy two grains of rice, My wife is going to be so disappointed"

JVQqbLi.png

"Hey you there!" Cried out a hat seller whom saw the old man by themselves.
"Very Nice used clothes there. You didn't have any buyers?"

"No, I haven't. Not a single one.…"

" I guess I do see… In that case would you consider exchanging those old clothes for my hats?"

3SKQo9k.png

" I'm afraid I made too many of them." Said the shivering hat maker.

" Hats?…

The old man wondered what to do…He'd rather have rice than hats, but…

juvZAdr.png

…the man trying to sell the hats looked so pitiful that the old man changed his mind.

UX6DY3U.png

"All right. Let's exchange, my used clothes for your hats.."

"Really? Thank you. You are too kind!!

SQhAp6c.png

And with that, the old man walked from the village on foot carrying his new sack of hats on his back.

DfGcAo0.png

After walking for some time, he somehow found himself in front of the seven child gods.

"Oh,my, All covered with snow. You must be freezing!"

The old man stared at the statues wondering how to help the better, an idea struck him.

"Oh that's right!"

ZwTTVrm.png

He first cleaned off each of their heads once more one by one all with his cold hands.

4hsEZPO.png

And then placed each of his extra hats on each of their heads.

kYyQc9d.png

When he reached the smallest and youngest guard he saw that he was missing one hat for the little child.

b8o5VHL.png

So he gave him his own hat to wear instead.

u0yp64f.png

"I'm sorry but please make do with my hat." He said wile bowing to them all, and then left for home.

The old man came right home covered in snow, and his nose red as a rose.

"I'm sorry I was not able to get any rice"

"Oh dear, what happened to your hat! Get in before you catch a cold."

More worried over her husbands health than celebrating the New Years, she brought him in and made him something warm. They both fell asleep warm and together that night.

7oH9kRu.png

In the middle of the night, climbing up the tall hill where the woman and man lived, 6 loud voices chanted in rhythm as a 7th squeaky one tried to keep up.

"Where's the old man's house?…Where's the old man's house?"

RLRzVGu.png
The sounds of the wooden cart crunching snow, the jingle of rope covered bells
cut and echoed with their chant across the crisp air.

"Where's the old man's house?…Where's the old man's house?"

The old woman and man where stirred by this chanting. Both looked at one another in silent confusion. Their old white hairs standing on ends as the 7 voices grew louder…and louder!

"Where's the old man's house?…Where's the old man's house?…Where's the old man's house?!…Here's the old man's house!!"

ZaQrd3B.png

There was nothing but the sound of the moaning roof holding the pounds of snow on it's roof and the old couples brath.

…………But then………

THURAAAD!!!!!!!!!

bC4V2fF.gif

The whole house shook as they heard a roaring thunder crack right in front of their house. The snow from the roof slid off shaking the whole foundation of their home. The old couple hid underneath their blankets fearing the worse.

PiGRsfr.png

As the wood stop crying with it's squeaks and moans the old couple poke their heads out of their blankets to make sure there was no cave in. They ran to the door and flung it open as fast as they could to see what caused that huge roar.

GCB1Qrk.png

Staring back at them was a feast of rice, dried fish, vegetables that would help them get through the rest of the winter, and the early weeks of spring.

2yOVfZu.png

The sun arms yet hugged the world, but in the shadowy distance the old man's poor eyes spotted what he thought where 6 tall travelers…

klwMbII.png

…and a little child with an oversized hat whom stopped in their tracks to turn around and wave goodbye.

MaeIWPH.png

That New Years was celebrated with old man and woman making all the rice cakes as they wanted with the rice they where given, They made so much that they shared with all their friends.

fjSRjI6.png

And when they traveled to them, they went to the 7 child gods to give them their earned share too. For the rest of their years in rain and shine they'ed return to this shrine and take care of the 7 guardians, and in return, the guardians blessed them with health and a happily ever after.

I hope this inspires you all to make your own stories, find stories, and more imporantly never be afraid to share them just like Windsinger and his children. If there are any interesting facts from the actual story of A New Direction you want to point out, mention them in this thread and ill put them underneath the lines! View this as a big note sheet for everyone.

I am in LOVE with the idea that the FR gods can disguise themselves as regular dragons, just like the gods of ancient Earth mythologies could disguise themselves as regular humans.

Can they?

Why would the Windsinger order their own figurine delivered to them?

Good question.

The Windsinger being able to disguise themselves into any form they please actually really fits in with the theme of a lot of traveler gods in stories. They're pretty much said to physically walk the world and interact with the people they meet, and the people they do meet tend to realize long after the fact "oh!... I met a god."
Which is kinda what we did with this story. "Oh! Edgar met the Windsigner."

Aequorin is just trying to throw us off, shh! Let the belief ring strong!
The Windsinger is among us!

Other possibilitie:

The young spiral was the Twisting Crescendo him-/herself, who turned into a spiral dragon.

The new lorebook is causing me some headaches. It's mentioned several times, quite clearly, that it's harder for dragons to fly in still air. I've seen some people dismiss these statements by saying the Wind dragons were just shocked and grieving, and they certainly were, but there is definitely more going on here. For example: • • •

Okay but the twisting crescendo disappears, and the spiral appears. "Windsinger" goes to the spiral. The spiral doesn't want to see "Windsinger", but when they do, the Twisting Crescendo comes back when the spiral disappears.
Galaxiel wrote on 2018-03-09 17:00:27:
I love the idea that the Spiral was the Twisting Crescendo. Though with that last quote I think instead of the Crescendo not wanting to see the Windsinger, it was the exact opposite. They wanted Windsinger to return. So, they stopped their task and turned into a Spiral slightly resembling the Windsinger, hoping it would draw attention. Remember, Windsinger according to the forums has been at the Wyrmwound for a long time, I think he sent that statue to say "Soon."

I mean, if they didn't want to see the Windsinger, why would they say "Thank you" to Edgar right before they turn back?
KitalphaHart wrote on 2018-03-09 18:18:53:
Wait aren't all the gods using gendered pronouns for convenience? (Plus the whole breeding system for male/female kinda needed one so choose the one that would make sense? Sorta?)

Also, that lil statue gave Edgar the energy/strength/will to fly in the dead air
If we follow the Spiral is the Crescendo theory, then the dancing spiral was low (relatively speaking) on energy and noodlenerd sent the statue as an energy restoration? Hence shortly after, heyo Crescendo? And becoming a spiral was the visible way of showing "low energy" to the great windsock?

"The spiral plucked the packaged from Edgar's claw" A+ typo lol
