Quote:
Sullenly following his mother, Umbrann trudged down the path to the Thorndark Alter, a well of darkness tended by the Shadowbinder’s brood for generations.

Thorndark Alter
Quote:
The concentrated slough of shadow seethed amidst the remains of once prominent architecture, long collapsed. There was an ancient omen associated with this dark void that shadow clans tended to fear and respect.
Man this does sound like a religion.
Hold on

[1:38 PM] catti: WHATS A QUOTE FROM THE BIBLE THAT IS BOTH FEARING AND WORSHIPING GOD
[1:39 PM] [REDACTED]: As in a quote that says God is to be feared and worshiped in the same quote?
[1:39 PM] catti: yes
[1:40 PM] [REDACTED]: Revelation 14:7 should do the trick.
[1:40 PM] [REDACTED]: And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water."
[1:40 PM] [REDACTED]: Why do you ask?
[1:42 PM] catti: theres this big lore update and im kinda the lore "guy" ppl go to and we're dealing with gods
[1:42 PM] [REDACTED]: Lore update in what game?

He would too, if he could just get over the smell.
Quote:
To his knowledge, the blackness never actually claimed any victims, but often looked as though it might, with dark tendrils occasionally protruding around the edges of the pool, searching.
That's grose and creepy.
Quote:
When he was a hatchling, Umbrann's mother would chide, "If you don't behave, I'll give you to the void." He didn’t much like his mother.
Quote:
That night's gathering of the clans began like any other. The same crusty, old elders in stinking robes
Quote:
Hand it to an ancient god to provide such an efficient garbage disposal method.
Quote:
“Sorry, I didn’t realize we’re on such a tight deadline,” Umbrann grumbled under his breath as he picked up the item he’d brought for the offering; a small, crescent-shaped stone, crusted over with glowing lichen. Not wanting to part with any of his own things, Umbrann had ‘borrowed’ the fist-sized stone from a sleeping tundra he’d encountered on a trail along the outskirts of his village. It’s not like the guy was gonna remember it, anyway.
Hello bosten.
Yeah even tho it said "guy" in it, the fact that it opens a portal to the light flight. given that bosten used to be a light dragon, used to be in the same lair as lightweaver it's no coincidence that out of all the dragon types it was going to be a Tundra refrenced in a shadow lore.
The next question is- acutaly no.
Hibernation then is also confirmed when you run out of energy. because Bosten is always "sleeping"
Quote:
Above, the moon had taken on an oddly pinkish tone, instead of the usual silver glow that pervaded the mists of the Tangled Wood

Good thing I found you, rock, or mother would probably be making me toss one of my collectible figures into the Shadowbinder’s hoard instead of a piece of garbage.
in another thread I made theorizing the level of "raw technology" Sorneith has, I theorized that since the invention of the internet was not made, this pinpointed what level of technology the world had (exculuding magic / Technology thats dependent on magic).
And their "output" would be around our equivelent of 1950s to 1960s
My first hypothisus was around 1962, a year before the transistor was made and allowed the internet to be a "thing" from my memory.
outside of context, I argued that the style of the technology seen in the artwork everywhere closely matches hardwear from the 1940s
Here's an image comparison of the latest "technology" drawn from FR to a opporation divice made in the year 1940(s) provided by the same friend in that first thread i linked just now. And we know FR has a very tight "style guide" in terms of how art is presented.
Whats this have to do with anything?
Collectible figures / "action figures" later named drop in this entry where invented around the 1960s in our world, 1964 to be exact. Just two years after the transistor and still well within the "ascetic" of technology back then.
Considering that that Temper Temper heavly refrenced the workers riots quote:

All of this culimates with a general culture and "level of advancement" seen around the the first half of the 20th century.
ALL BECAUSE NOW WE GO ACTION FIGURES 8D

Quote:
Umbran turned to follow their gaze. The moon had deepened to a deep violet, a circular slice of darkness carved out of it. Lunar eclipses were extremely rare on Sornieth, and flat out unheard of on the night of a gathering. Finally, some excitement!
This just rases the question
Does sorneith have 1 or 2 moons????
Quote:
thrashing movement of the shadows as his hysterical mother tried to pull him further away from the void’s edge.
Quote:
A portal had opened up to the unknown, and wherever it lead had to be better than here! He moved forward, pulling free of his mother’s grasp. “So long, suckers! I’m going on an adventure!” His mother gave out a squawk of protest as he bounded down the floating stone steps, stopping momentarily to retrieve the carved stone. Turning back to his mother he shouted "Don't let Murken touch my action figures!" And without another moment’s hesitation, he dove through the wall of shadow in front of him.

She inhaled deeply, catching an unfamiliar scent.

or those shadows just stink that much.
Quote:
"...h-hey. Are you... alright?" she nervously called out, not yet knowing whether the dragon was friend or foe. With her bad luck, it was an assassin from the shadow flight come to ruin her hard work.

if it's a thing to throw things into shadowbinder's personal hoard, least from the sounds of it,

The god of the Light Flight is the Lightweaver.

So awesome that you noticed this!
When we were designing the Light and Shadow regions, we very much wanted it to feel like at one point they could have been one large area (which is why they have similar architecture), but over time, the Shadowbinder literally started pulling the earth down into the water until it became swampy. The stairwell might have been a last ditch attempt at an alliance between the two before they parted ways for good.
…does
does that mean shadowbiner is going out of her way to encourage a ritual to gather up the resorces of the past, just so that lightweaver cant study it?
…
man that's petty.

Some things I have noticed:
-as a child, its possible that they didn't know the gender of the Tundra they were steeling from. They didn't exactly give it much thought, and i've seen 'guy' used to refer to a person, regardless of gender. So there's still a good chance that the tundra in question was Hope. (And the reason they were napping is because they have 0 energy so often.)
-I think the ridgeback's mother, was attempting the common tactic of trying to scare the kid into obedience.
-The guardian mentions assassins. However, she's not concerned for her life, but rather her work. This makes me think that the flights have assassins, but their goals are specifically to harm the other flight's goals and work.
So I'm think it means that a Shadow assassin would destroy scrolls or cover them in goo, so that the information is rendered unreadable. A Plague assassin might go dig up rare flowers and trees.

interesting.
and yeah with the child i got that vibe too
my question is how the hell was he able to find them just napping around.
