Wandering the caverns that open and snake through the rock beyond the gates reveals a variety of workshops and store rooms, leading down to a series of hot springs. But above the depths of this dragon clan, there lies a massive cavern full of bookshelves where a ridgeback sits and carefully dips his claws in ink. It is here that the records of this clan are kept, from histories to bloodlines. Basil is the lorekeeper of this clan, and here lie snippets of his careful works to preserve the history of his home. Try not to tear any pages- Basil might not be scary, but he has plenty of friends who are... less friendly and fluffy than the purple donned ridgeback may be. Speaking of which- is that a fae glaring at you around a case? A stack of precariously posed tomes sits near the door within easy reach, what better place to begin one's reading? A few comfortable pelt piles line the walls of shelves, ready to host a curious dragon on a quest for knowledge. Let's begin. - History of the Keep - [columns]One upon a time, when the Icefields were young- err, younger- a Tundra and a Guardian formed from the ice magic that thrummed through the land, and blinked open their white eyes to see the storm-darkened skies. They wandered until they came across the other, and each having studied the other, they journeyed on together. The tundra had fur of soft greens overlain with purple-black and leather of gentle sun rays, the guardian scaled in deep reds with wings hewn of shadows, donned with spines flickering like candle flames. They wandered, hearts tugged onward by a feeling, a need to locate... something, somewhere. Over the broken planes of ice and across the scrub-lands they walked, sometimes looping back, occasionally coming across other dragons. On one such occasion, they came across a small fae all covered in pale blues with eyes bright as the Windsinger's hide, and they waited their quest to speak to him and learn of his own journey. He was searching for a home of his own, a fledgling mage who felt as though he was supposed to be in the fields of chilled air rather than his own temperate homeland. There was a connection, a bond felt, and he joined them, riding between the guardian's massive shoulders as they kept on their quest. It was a short time before they ran across a hatchling abandoned in the snows, cold as ice but dipped in molten fire with amethysts for eyes. The tundra lifted the poor nocturne from the snow and set her between her own shoulders. They then met the final member of their wandering party- a wildclaw, black as night, soft leather of pale daffodils, white as the snows. She was also born of the ice, and a nomad herself who had wandered from her clan in search of more. They continued their quest finally reaching the peaks of the crags. Though the way was treacherous and the road still ever long, they followed the passes ever deeper into this mountainous country, drawn ever on by the longing in their hearts. It was a rough journey, marked by encounters with fierce creatures and scars on the hides of the wanderers, but there finally came a day that they knew the truth. They were home. Opening up before them as a valley, and on the distant side, there was the flicker in the eye of a cavernous opening. They rushed across, finding new energy in their tired forms, and found themselves at the entrance to a great system of caverns, silent and... waiting. It was on the steps of this mighty home that they named their newfound cradle of life- the Iceswept Keep, for they were born and summoned of ice, yet billowed by the chilling winds and drifts of their hearts, ever kept safe within the mountains a vow to keep this safety alive for whoever may join them- and themselves. The tundra, Nike, and her now-mate guardian, Sev. The fae was named Indigo, the wildclaw took the name Nyx, and they called their small charge Topaz. And thus it was that the small foundling and the first nest born of the two eldest grew within the caves. The clan grew slowly, others drawn by their own heart calls or simple luck or a misstep that sent them tumbling down into the valley outside the fierce clan that dwelt within it's boundaries. Nike and Sev were the leaders of the growing clan, Indigo the head of magic, and Nyx the highest among the warriors. [/columns] [columns]Soon, another clan sent an emissary to the Keep to propose an alliance, and thus they found their first ally outside of their valley. A few dragons left to join their new allies in the land of Wind, and a few came to join them from this faroff country, most notably Heatherknell. Indigo was thrilled to see someone from his old homeland and he and the new arrival quickly fell in love and became mates. Life was good for those among the protective crags, deep within the caves. And then came the dark days. Outsiders with fierce powers and no regard for the Keep or it's warriors began to invade their home. Warriors were lost in the fight to remove them from their lands, including Nike and Sev's only grandsons and one of Indigo's two sons. It took months to finally chase these foes from their lands, and at a great cost to the ranks. In the time that it took, between the presence of the now called shade-touched dragons, nearly a fourth of the Keep left for other lands or fell in battle. The Clan mourned sorrowfully for their lost before they began to again- though warily- invite newcomers back to their home. In recent days, the lost crew of a pirate ship has wandered deep into the Icefields- truly lost- and has taken up residence in the deep hot springs that are in the lowermost caves of the Keep. There is suspicion and mistrust between the two factions, but for now it seems that this small band of seafarers means no harm. There are also two new clans that the Keep holds in alliance as they slowly open up again to the outside world...

Nike and Sev were the leaders of the growing clan, Indigo the head of magic, and Nyx the highest among the warriors.

Soon, another clan sent an emissary to the Keep to propose an alliance, and thus they found their first ally outside of their valley. - Guild of the Crossgale || Triptune - The Guild of the Crossgale is a wandering group of dragons with a desire for adventure and little more on their mind than making their mark on Sornieth. They'll take in any dragon who decides to tag along. The more, the merrier, right? Despite having no connection to the land, the clan wanders in search of a permanent home and the treasures of hearsay--the more improbable, the more likely they are to seek it out. - Guild of the Crossgale || Triptune -

The Guild of the Crossgale is a wandering group of dragons with a desire for adventure and little more on their mind than making their mark on Sornieth. They'll take in any dragon who decides to tag along. The more, the merrier, right? Despite having no connection to the land, the clan wanders in search of a permanent home and the treasures of hearsay--the more improbable, the more likely they are to seek it out.

Fun Fact #1: the color of the headers is the hex color from my user id!
Fun Fact #2: my user id backwards color is this interesting shade of purple/pink
Fun Fact #3: If a dragon's kids or parents listed in their profile do not appear in lore whether by name or linking or mention, then within my lore they don't exist. Which is less of a fun fact and more of a lore fact if I'm honest.
Fun Fact #4: My lair organization goes: progens, coli team, spoiled boy 1, progen's firstborn, ice rep/icewarden's voice, spoiled boy 2 & 3, and then absolute choas bc i can't decide how i want them organized from there. xD

Hey fronds! I've included in my lore thread posts for each allied clan- so I wanted to ask what blurbs or whatnot you'd like on the posts related to your clans, and if there are any dragons you'd want listed. (I was planning to list old Keep members) They can also have short 1-2 sentence blurbs. I believe I got all links (i.e. art shops and Red's hatchery) but if there's another you'd like, just tell me! c:
