Dragons not aging in the AH?

All the hatchlings that should have aged up during rollover should now be adults. You may need to do a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) in some cases if the dragon is still showing a hatchling image.

Hello all, while we tried to run all of the jobs that normally occur during rollover, it appears the one responsible for aging up hatchlings was missed. I am looking into this now.

In the specific case of Eliminate sorting below the skins/accents in your example, that was an actual bug, which has been fixed. Eliminate should be the top entry for searching "eliminate" now.

Additionally @TehuMertt if you have a specific dragon you can direct me to that you know had some number of Facebook likes prior to the HTTP->HTTPS switch, we can use that as a test case for fixing this issue. No worries if not.

It looks like Facebook considers the HTTP and HTTPS versions of the same dragon page as different for the purposes of like counts, which is why they are reset. We will look into seeing if we can recover the old like counts, although it may be an involved process.

From HTTP to HTTPS

As part of ongoing security improvements, Flight Rising will begin using the more secure HTTPS protocol on all pages and resources following a scheduled maintenance period from 06:00 - 07:00 Server Time, Monday, October 21, 2019.


Current HTTPS Pages

Some pages on the Flight Rising website are already HTTPS. They are:
  • Registration
  • Login
  • Password Change
  • Password Reset
  • Lost Username

Gem purchases do not take place on the Flight Rising website. Gems are purchased through Paypal's website and interface.


What to expect

For the most part, the changeover should be transparent. However, we want to give you a heads up about some side effects that will occur when this change goes live.

The site may be significantly slower for a short period after the switch-over.

Flight Rising is an image-heavy site. When the switch occurs, most web browsers will have to re-download image resources that were previously cached. If (when) this happens, you may experience slow loading pages depending on your individual browser. Everyone should be aware of the fact that the additional load on the servers may potentially cause an overall slowdown. If it does, it should resolve by itself within a day or two.


The site may be marginally slower for some players going forward.

Unfortunately, the process of creating and maintaining secure connections to the site carries with it some unavoidable overhead. We're working on ways to minimize the overhead required and improve your experience, but HTTPS means some will always remain.


[ img ] BBCode tag will automatically use HTTPS.

The [ img ] tag will automatically upgrade image URLs that start with http:// to use https:// which eliminates browser warnings about "mixed content." Most of you won't have to update any BBCode in your posts, signatures, bios, etc. That being said, there are a minority of image hosts that may not support HTTPS. If they don't, using those image hosts could result in broken images.

Please see the guide below for instructions on how to check that your image tags will work after the switch-over, and how to fix them if there is a problem.


The Alternate Socket setting in Account Settings is being removed entirely.

The alternate socket is a setting for players to use when they're experiencing network difficulties with Fairgrounds and Coliseum. The "On" and "Off" settings toggled between two different TCP ports to communicate with our server, both of which had advantages and disadvantages depending on your network environment. After the switch-over, all Fairgrounds games and the Coliseum will connect using HTTPS on its default port, which should be more reliable than either of the two previous options. Some connection error messages may still refer to the "Alternate Socket" until we have edited all of them.


Checking that your BBCode images will work after the switch

First, take look at your BBCode. If your image tags look like this:

They should just work, because the URL starts with https://. Most image hosts already produce links in this format!

However, if the URL starts with just http://, like this:

Then there is a small possibility that the image will not display when the switch-over occurs.

The easiest way to test if there is a problem is to edit your BBCode to add in the extra "s" after "http" and see if the image still displays. If it does, you're all good! If not, you will have to upload the image to a different image host that supports HTTPS links.

Please note that any images that are hosted on flightrising.com itself will work just fine after the switch-over.

Yes, if you cannot log in using any browser please send in a report using Contact Us. We had an edit to the thread to mention this that seems to have gotten lost, it's updated now. In most cases it is only one very specific browser having the issue so far.

After Tuesday morning's maintenance, it's come to our attention that a small number of players are experiencing difficulty logging in or staying logged in to the Flight Rising website.


We're currently unable to reproduce this issue and we need more information from the affected players. In this thread we are looking for reports only of this specific issue:

Can you let me know what browser and operating system you are using, and any antivirus/antimalware you may be using?

In the mean time, if you cannot access Flight Rising, please try a different browser as it appears there may be certain less popular browsers/OS/etc combinations that are affected by the changes from this morning.

The following changes have been made regarding login and sessions:
  • It should be much easier to stay logged in to both halves of the site, especially if you close your browser frequently or are using multiple devices.
  • Changing or resetting your password will log out all other active sessions.
  • The "Remember Me" checkbox on the Login form is now more useful.
    • Leaving it checked will keep you logged in for a long time, suitable for a private device.
    • Leaving it unchecked will leave you logged in for a much shorter time, and fully closing the browser will also log you out, which is more suitable for a shared device.

NOTE: It is still best to manually log out of the site rather than solely relying only on this, as it is easy to forget to close all windows and some browsers will still take a while before deciding your session is "done."

There is currently a limit on the maximum page number you can navigate to, which as you have discovered is currently 500. Due to the way sorting search results works, it gets more and more costly to present you with a page of results as the page number goes up.

I apologize that it is interfering with what you are trying to accomplish! There has to be some sort of limit, and we may revisit the exact limit in the future, but I don't think it will be feasible to increase it enough to page through all 8 digit G1 dragons.

In the mean time I can only recommend refining your query so there are fewer than 10,000 results if you want to page through all of them.

After observing, it appears that while delays occurred for purchases between approximately 04:30 and 05:05 Server Time today, they did eventually resolve, most within approximately an hour. As a result we have re-opened gem sales, with a caution about potential delivery delays.

The good news is that we are now receiving the IPNs for affected purchases were made on the 11th and 12th. At the rate it is going, we expect that the majority of gems purchased during this period will be fully delivered by later today.

After reaching out to PayPal, we have tentatively re-enabled gem sales. We are closely monitoring the gem purchasing system to see if any errors similar to the ones that occurred earlier this week appear. We are prepared to turn gem sales off without warning if they do.

PayPal is aware of all players affected by delayed gem transactions during the 11th and the 12th, and they are actively working on a resolution. We are currently waiting on PayPal to resolve these cases because, as stated above, we are not able to manually confirm payment records for the affected transactions. This is due to an ongoing technical issue at PayPal.

Again, if you paid for gems, you will definitely receive them! Thank you again for your patience. We know this is very frustrating. Further updates will be provided when we learn more.

Paypal is currently experiencing some serious service issues that are disrupting or delaying gem deliveries.

As always, please create a ticket using Contact Us if your gems do not appear by 24 hours after the purchase time. However, please note that at the moment we are waiting on Paypal to address issues with its service, so there may be delays getting your gems to you even with a ticket.

I apologize for the inconvenience and delay this has caused.

Is Shardflank meant to be stacking so small? I see it more frequently now, but still in ridiculously small stacks.

I brought this back to discuss with the team, and we have increased the stocking rate of Shardflank even further than it was adjusted earlier today, as of approximately 13:35 server.
