Ooooh, magic and intrigue! || Picrew source: (x)
Name: Desmond Kronia
Age: 60s (or so he says)
Gender: Male, he/him
Species: Fallen angel
Occupation: Librarian
Height: 6'0
Appearance:
Desmond is tall and thin, with a great posture for his age. He has bright green eyes and almost fully grey hair, and likes dressing in fancy old-fashioned clothing, especially his favorite long brown suede overcoat. He wears a monocle when he needs to read or see things up close, and has a spidering, geometric scar visible under his right eye. There are other similar scars all over his body, but they're hidden under his clothes.
Personality: He's quiet, content to manage the old town library, and quite the introvert. His face has a permanent tired look, as if he's seen and been through too much, so most pass Desmond off as unfriendly and antisocial, even though he's quite not. He's just old, to be honest, and doesn't want to attract unnecessary attention to himself or his life. He did, however, put up a few stickers and posters on the windows of his library saying that all form of magical creatures are welcome there (as long as they don't damage the books) and that any who need shelter, a warm place to spend the night, or just a sweet or salty treat for their stomach, can ask for his help. A small island of peace, and "neutral ground" in cases where the worst would happen.
Likes/Dislikes:
Magic/Abilities:
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Backstory: As an angel, he was responsible for the tracking of time, and writing the fates of mortal lives in the celestial books. Fell somewhere in the 1200s, due to making a pact with another immortal creature so humans would stop using so many dang different calendars at once (in exchange for strengthening the barriers used to hide magic in the world). The scars on his body are from quicksilver - he has voluntarily taken it more than once, trying to become human (ye olde curse of immortals), and it left permanent marks on his skin. If you look close enough at the scars, they're still slightly metallic.

Likes/Dislikes:
- + Calm and quiet
- + Overcast weather
- + Tea (especially black tea)
- + Helping people
- + Hearing and telling stories
- - Rowdy/loud people
- - Fights and fighting
- - Fire and "made-of-fire" beings (no burning his books!)
- - Magic discrimination
- - Flirting
Magic/Abilities:
- Flying: Desmond is a fallen angel (not a demon!) and as such still has his angel wings, though he keeps them hidden and doesn't use them often. He can fly himself and one other person (or person-sized thing) across town or to the next town over. His wings are about 10' across, and some of the off-white feathers look charred, like they were burned. He can hide them as if they didn't exist, but when he's flying, they're fully visible and tangible.
- Minor Healing: He can heal himself or other creatures' wounds up to a point. He can't fix broken bones, at most put them back in place, but cuts and scrapes are fine. Deeper wounds like stabs or slashes take longer and may heal unevenly, and organ damage takes all of his focus and energy. Has a reduced effect on demonic beings and anyone with quicksilver in their bloodstream.
- Historical Memory: Desmond is old old. He's seen his share of events, especially in Europe, and as such ends up knowing a lot of small facts or corrections about "what actually happened" and how magic was involved in such or such before it was known. Always has a relevant fun fact to share, and may make him come off as a know-it-all.
- Sense and Banish Evil: He doesn't have all his angel traits, but this is the most angelic one he has. He can sense evil creatures and energy, and depending on how strong and how close he is to it, can "banish" it - if it's a being, they get a strong sense that they should leave that place, and if it's magic, he can dispel or weaken it. It's worth noting that predatory creatures don't necessarily count as evil, only if they're cruel or prejudiced about their... habits.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
- + Even if he doesn't like fighting, can handle himself in one and take quite a bit of damage. Willing to shield himself and others with his wings.
- + Resistant (not immune!) to most types of magic, asides demonic and fire magic.
- + His good memory means he can easily find any book you ask him for, and is pretty much photographic concerning the events of the past 7 days.
- = Willing to make a deal with any kind of person if it means keeping himself, his books, and his library safe. Yes, even the "bad guys".
- = Can and will drink you under the table if you challenge him and he has nothing better to do.
- - His wings are his largest weak point, damage them and he'll be in a lot of pain.
- - The scars on his face and body are also sensitive points, where it's easier to incapacitate him.
- - Even being a magical creature, he'll deny it to his death and avoid using his powers unless necessary. Even then he may gaslight you that your fast healing was just the medicine/tea he gave you, things like that.
- - Functionally immortal, but not unkillable. Desmond still ages, just very slowly, and can bleed out or die from other causes if his wounds are too big to heal.

Other:
- Hates being called bird brain or anything like it
- His angelic name was Destiny, he just picked a human name similar enough. Kronia is an ancient Greek festival celebrating Kronus, god of time
- He's an old character of mine I adapted for this, if he can't be an angel it's fine, I'm sure I can work out some other idea of magical creature for him to be
- Ironically enough, he's not very religious
- I can very much see him as the kind of guy that always "knows a guy", he could maybe be a major informant in whatever political plot is going on
- Does not tolerate Karens in his library, at least not quietly. Will absolutely talk back.
Edited only to rectify that I'm not making two characters for now
