You hear rustling in the bushes. An angry hiss soon follows. You feel a pair of eyes burning into you and fear paralyzes you. You chance a peek in front of you and the last thing you see before your body turns completely into stone is a pair of glowing, angry yellow eyes. (Extended lore here)
Abilities
Basilisks possess a multitude of acids and venoms in their fangs and can spit it like a cobra or produce a blast of acid from their throats. Their gaze is only capable of turning others to stone if the basilisk is really angry and the fear induced by this is paralyzing. But basilisks are not horrible death monsters, they're really nature serpents of a sort. They have a high resistance to most toxins and diseases. And if they so choose, can poison the water that they drink from.
Gene and Color requirements
Primary - Python, Vipera, Skink, Swirl
Colors - Emerald - Green
Secondary - Hypnotic, Toxin, Noxtide, Marbled
Colors - Mulberry - Grape, Fuchsia because it goes well with the theme.
Tertiary - Scales, Underbelly, Keel, Basic (prefered in color range but not required)
Colors - Emerald - Moss
Primary - Python, Vipera, Skink, Swirl

Hybrids
When a basilisk and a regular dragon have a clutch of eggs. The offspring will retain their basilisk parent's greenish color. The extent of their basilisk abilities vary from each individual.
Same gene requirements, but the colors are expanded, to any green and any bright color for the wings.
Behavior
They are nature loving and tend to avoid conflict if possible, they're more likely to turn you to stone and move you out of their territory then revert you than fight. They have a slight hatred of the Plague flight due to their nature loving instinct. If forced to fight they will use their acids and venoms to fight you off and try to coil around you to crush you. Most are kind but some are willing to make statue gardens out of their victims.
Cockatraices
An odd mutation that occurs in FAE, SKYDANCER, COTAL, and WILDCLAW breeds that instead of scaly wings they have green feathery ones and yellow to red scales instead of green ones. Their screech when heard at full blast is fatal, and if not at full blast can induce paralysis. Their gaze is no longer able to turn you to stone. Cockatrices tend to have more volatile tempers and are more likely to shriek first and ask questions later. They tend to be more solitary due to this.
Requirements
Primary genes and colors are the same, secondary range is the same as primary
Secondary - Seraph, Edged
Tertiary - Scales and Keel goldenrod - red
XXY is preferred but not necessary
A female is known as a Cockatrix while a male is known as a Cockatraice.
False Basilisks
For those who puedo mimic the colors of a true basilisk or hybrid even those of a Cockatrice! Any breed and gene is allowed, the only color requirements are that the primary should be some kind of greenish color, the secondary should either be bright or dull and the tertiary can be anything! as for their abilities, well they can have a very weak stone turning gaze, really more of a "Hey! Stop moving!" more than anything. Or a screech that just gives you a severe case of the willies.
