Wing, seeing a bug attempting to attack the massive black beast, literally picked up Zote and 'escorted' him into Izelda's shop.
(I think that'd be the closest building? also I have a vivid mental image of Zote flailing around like a fish while Wing is holding him. that's why I put escorted in quotes, because I literally can't not see that)

Once Wing had gotten Zote to safety, they didn't hesitate in going back out to see who else needed help. They heard the voices speaking, and mostly ignored it. However, when they glanced at the beast to see if it was moving to attack, they definitely saw it staring back at them.

Wing didn't understand. They remembered the Abyss, they remembered escaping it, they'd always been a vessel. Being a vessel was pretty much the one part of their identity that hadn't changed in the time they were alive.
Now the beast was calling them 'false one'?

Hollow stared down at the broken shell, picking up a half. Hornet had gotten almost everyone inside before she noticed the beast walking off. Squit slapped Wing with their wings, watching the beast.
