Characters:
Earth
Human
Name: Evangeline “Eva” Earthshaker
Flight: earth
Height: 5’10”
Age: 58
Gender&Sexuality: female, bisexual
Romance: No, her wife died 3 years ago
Appearance:
Personality: adventurous, loving, kind, stubborn, passionate
History: Raised in a military family, Eva is extremely hardworking and pours her passion into her goals. She quickly rose in the ranks from a young age, from when she joined as a soldier at 18 and became second in command of the king’s battalion at 31. She was an expert in the art of the sword, excelled in hand to hand combat, and knew the basics of archery. She’s been a spy, a diplomat, a tactician, and leader of squadrons for 16 years before she decided to retire from the military. At 34, she realized that she desperately craved something she’s been missing her entire life: complete and utter freedom. She lived in a strict, but loving environment at all times, with a busy schedule and a dangerous job. She was tired of watching her friends die and her lovers leaving her because she was gone at all hours of the day. Eva felt like she had done her duty to her country, and before she left she had the king’s emblem tattooed under her left eye, to show her never ceasing dedication to the protection of her land. Eva began her great adventure, learning about new places and seeing new sights, before she stumbled upon a dragon’s egg in an old cave. It felt as if it was calling to her, and as she touched it, the egg hatched under her hand. She named the hatchlet Retumbar, “to rumble” in her ancestor’s language, since it felt as if the earth was shaking when the egg hatched. Retumbar became her close companion, and she raised him as if he was her own son. He grew quickly, and became her closest friend. They went adventuring together, exploring forgotten places, fighting monsters, and going on quests. They made friends and met other travelers, swapping stories and maps. Eva finally felt the freedom she secretly craved all her life, and she was truly happy. She became even happier when she fell in love with her soon to be wife, Alice Icebringer, at age 39. They met together during a quest in the far north, where they had to bring down a huge sea serpent that was terrorizing a local fishing village. Alice decided to join Eva and Retumbar on their adventures, and they became a close knit group. After 10 years and a happy marriage at the top of a high mountain, Alice decided to settle down in a town near a lake, where she took care of and adopted local stray cats. Eva continued on her adventures, but consistently came back to her wife to tell Alice stories and bring her gifts. After 17 long, wonderful years together, Alice died from a heart attack. Eva’s been mourning her beloved wife since, still visiting Alice’s grave to tell her stories and leave little knicknacks.
Other: Even though Eva is older, she refuses to let that slow her down, still remaining skilled with the sword, if slower. She lost her right eye in a monster battle, and has many scars. She has a weak left knee that sometimes gives out from being thrown into a stone wall a couple years ago, so she keeps a walking stick in her pack, even though she hates using it.
Dragon
Name: Retumbar “Rumble”
Age: 25 years old
Size: 9 feet, Eva’s head is at his neck
Gender&Sexuality: male, sexuality unknown
Romance: young and inexperienced in dragon years, possibly?
Appearance:
Personality: kind, curious, protective, cautious, shy around other dragons
History: Retumbar was raised by Eva since he was a hatchlet. He loves her dearly, seeing her as a mother and a friend, and is extremely loyal to her. He saw Alice as a second mother, and is also still grieving her death. Rumble is more cautious than Eva, but he still loves to go on adventures and see the world, he just doesn’t find taking risks to be exciting at all, unlike Eva who’s practically a daredevil. He’s a very good fighter, having been fighting monsters as soon as he was old enough to, and especially works well with Eva. Retumbar hasn’t interacted with many dragons before, and none long enough to befriend them, so he’s awkward around dragons and isn’t sure how to act. He’s always ready to help someone who’s in need, and feels the most proud when he’s fighting to defend others. Rumble loves exploring new places and finding ancient artifacts/scrolls, which he hoards in Alice’s old house. Rumble sometimes wishes he could find his parents or fantasizes about making dragon friends, but doesn’t want to leave Eva’s side for long, treasuring his time with her above all else.
Other: Rumble is extremely protective now of Eva, after realizing she’s human and mortal, and could die soon. Alice’s death was a harsh wake up call for him, and he is extremely frightened of what the future holds for them. Eva and Alice is all he’s known, and after Eva’s gone too, what will he do? He doesn’t know how he could live without Eva by his side.
Fire
Human
Name: Nyntos, Nyn
Flight: Fire
Height: 5'8"
Age: 24
Gender&Sexuality: Genderfluid (they/them unless specified otherwise) Bisexual
Romance: Open, but good luck.
Appearance:
Masculine:
Feminine:
Personality: Nyntos isn't too sociable. They're really more of a dragon person than a people person, and they have been since they were little. Nyn isn't shy about their gender, finding the way they are unique and nothing to be ashamed of, however not everyone feels the same way. Nyntos has been bullied most of their life for being different, but they never let it show, not to anyone outwardly at least. To Edarae they can be themselves and cry if they feel upset.
History: When Edarae first found Nyn, they were in the middle of the forest, surrounded by kids with rocks and throwing insults at Nyntos who was curled helpless in the middle of the circle of thugs. They were all laughing at Nyn when, just by chance, a large dragon happened to swoop by the clearing and felt a tug to the Nyn.
Swooping down, the large dragon dropped over the kid, belly inches from their face as the dragon roared a terrifying roar and watched as the bullies scattered like ants. Nyn, who was already readying themselves for death. When it didn't come, they looked up and saw the orange eyes through the lions mask covering the dragons face and armor covering the light colored scales. Instead of being greeted with sharp teeth and demise, Nyn was helped to their feet and felt at home with the dragon, immediately bursting into tears when the dragon moved. They cried against the dragons leg, and were shocked when the dragon bowed it's neck and embraced them in a hug.
After they calmed down, they spoke with the dragon and they decided to stay with the dragon, keeping them close by because Nyn was only able to be themselves with the dragon who's name is Edarae. They haven't been together long, but they've been together for long enough for Edarae to begin to suspect they are the dragon soul but can't confirm it.
Other: Nyn binds correctly and safely when they feel more masculine, but they don't always bind when they feel masculine. They go by They/Them pronouns and switch between Nyn and Nyntos depending on how they feel each day.
Dragon
Name: Edarae
Age: who knows, she doesn't share her age.
Size: Roughly 5' at the shoulder and 28' long. Her antlers are her most impressive features, about 3 feet long and as sharp as knives.
Gender&Sexuality: Female, Asexual
Romance: nope, that is one tree you don't want to bark up. Though, it might be amusing to try
Appearance:
Personality: Edarae is brash and has a temper, as firey as the element she represents. She is quiet and calculative, making sure that everything will work in her favor before making any actions. She doesn't fully understand the bond she has with Nyn but she will protect them with her life. She seems cold but she really isn't so bad, once you get through the fiery exterior you find a soft nougatty center.
History: Edarae doesn't talk much of her past, she prefers to live in the moment and calculate everything to the last letter instead of taking the time to think back on the actions of her past. She prides herself on her battling skills, traveling and fighting as often as she could. She was flying by a large clearing when she spotted the kid being bullied mercilessly by a group of kids roughly their own age. Feeling some kind of pull to the kid she dropped and scared the kids off, trying to save the little one nestled between her belly and the ground.
When she got up, the kid cowered while she stood there waiting for them to fully understand what had happened when they realized they weren't being eaten. When they realized it, they broke down and began crying against the dragons arm, and the only instinct she had was to hold them and keep them from feeling bad.
Ever since then Edarae has had a motherly instinct to protect this small child and keep them safe from all harm, both emotional and physical. She has started teaching them to fight to keep themselves safe.
Other: She killed the lion who's head she is currently wearing, and she always takes a trophy from the animal she takes the life from. The quickest way to get her temper up is to insult Nyn or harm them in some way.
Wind
Human
Name: Jae-Ha; usually called Jae by Ryokuryuu
Flight: Wind
Height: 5'11"
Age: 20
Gender&Sexuality: Male, Pansexual
Romance: Open to relationships, but don't expect him to settle down for you.
Appearance:
Personality: Jae-Ha is a free spirit, valuing nothing more than his freedom. He is generally confident and observant, often teasing others based on their words or actions, and can be quite stubborn and persistent; once he makes up his mind about something, it is quite hard to change it. Jae-ha is also somewhat vain, taking pride in his looks and strength, and enjoys the beautiful things in life. Because of his high value of freedom, Jae-Ha doesn't particularly want to be the Wind Dragon Soul as he thinks that becoming what his "destiny" dictates is forcing him to relinquish his freedom. However, after saving and becoming friends with Ryokuryuu, he has come to accept his role because of the bigger picture. Because of his past experiences, it is easy for Jae-Ha to understand people and to see the bigger picture, and while Jae-Ha uses his observation skills to tease others, he also sometimes uses it to give advice to others. Despite his confident and jokester ways, Jae-Ha seems to have some sort of dark side, though he has been working on controlling it. Just don't ask him about his past, threaten to take away his freedom and/or hold him captive, or hurt Ryokuryuu or any of Jae-Ha's other friends, and you don't have to worry about it. Probably. Anyway, when Jae-Ha's "dark side" is activated, he becomes merciless and apathetic; his intelligence and observance, while very helpful when you're on the same side, turn into a ruthless weapon to both friend and foe when he's dark. His dark side has also given him quite the reputation; he's almost a legend everywhere he goes, and many people caution against him, saying, "beware the green-haired pirate; he can destroy anything he sets his mind to, friend or foe."
History: Jae-Ha often says that his life began once he became a pirate, at the age of 12, and doesn't like to speak of his life before then. Interestingly enough, before he turned twelve and ran away to join the band of pirates, Jae-Ha was, and technically still is, the only son and sole heir of a royal bloodline, even if they only rule a small country. However, when he was young, Jae-Ha was kidnapped by another rival kingdom. This spawned his dark side, and when he was found, he was the only person still alive in the place where he was being held captive. When his parents got him back, they kept him under house arrest for his own protection, causing him to long for freedom. When he was twelve, he got fed up and managed to run away, joining a band of honorable pirates who didn't realize that he was royalty and became obsessed with the concept of his freedom, finally finding a path that didn't hold him captive to fate. Despite being pirates, the crew was actually helping the regular citizens fight against the corrupt government that controlled their city, in a Robin Hood-esque fashion. One day while Jae-Ha was at the port in town, he heard a voice calling to him for help that no one else seemed to hear. After a while of internally debating, Jae-Ha finally followed the voice, which led him to the Wind dragon. Jae-Ha saved the hurt dragon, nursing him back to health. Once he was in better shape, Ryokuryuu introduced himself, and explained that Jae-Ha was his Dragon Soul. To this, Jae-Ha flat out refused and turned away. For a few days, he avoided Ryokuryuu before starting to feel somewhat guilty for abandoning the still-hurt, albeit better, dragon. He headed back to the hidden area that Ryokuryuu hd been staying in. Fortunately, the dragon was still there. Jae-Ha promptly apologized, but still refused to accept his role as a Dragon Soul. Over the course of a month, however, Ryokuryuu was patient and the two became friends. One day, Jae-Ha finally gave in, but told the dragon that he had terms. He would not sacrifice his freedom. Ryokuryuu agreed, and finally Jae-Ha accepted the fate of being a Dragon Soul. With the help of Ryokuryuu and, unfortunately, Jae-Ha's dark side, the pirates took down the corrupt government and thus began the tales of the ruthless green-haired pirate.
Other: Jae-Ha is quite skilled at martial arts and throwing knives, keeping a multitude of small hidden knives on his person at all times. His legs, and by extension, his kicks, are very powerful.
Dragon
Name: Ryokuryuu; usually called Ryo or Ryoku by Jae-Ha
Age: Ryokuryuu's true age isn't known, but it's suspected that he is much older than he acts.
Size: Being a Fae, Ryokuryuu is smaller than Jae-Ha. His full length is 3'4", and his wingspan is wider than he is tall, being 4'4". He only weighs about 5.5 lbs, though, so he'll often ride on Jae-Ha, wrapped around his neck like a scarf.
Gender&Sexuality: Male, Pansexual
Romance: Open to relationships... provided that Jae-Ha likes the contender.
Appearance:
Personality: Ryokuryuu is just as much a free spirit as his Dragon Soul, and just as stubborn. However, Ryokuryuu is more patient than Jae-Ha and doesn't tease others as much, though he does still tease now and then. Ryokuryuu is stubborn and patient enough to be about as unyielding as a brick wall, and his free-spiritedness leads him to walk his own path and try things his own way before listening to others, making him a wild card in a chain of command; if you tell him to do something he doesn't want to, there is a 50/50 chance that it'll either not get done, or get done fast enough for others to wonder if he really did it, which of course he did, he just didn't want to waste his time on something he didn't want to do. However, no one ever truly knows which way the wind will blow on his decisions, and so he is generally left to choose his own course of action. Ryokuryuu is also very energetic and sometimes comes off as childish, though he can be mature when the situation calls for it. He also tends to be quite cryptic about himself, such as when he doesn't reveal his true age or certain facts that he knows until "the time is right," and sometimes never. It seems like he might hide some kind of secret that would blow the minds of his companions.
History: When Ryokuryuu was young, he was much more rash and often made decisions that shocked other people. He had a group of friends, and the entire group was especially talented among their flight, often called prodigies by the rest. One day, they all had the brilliant idea to stir up some trouble with the beastclans. And so they did, with Ryokuryuu becoming their scout. A while into their campaign, the beastclans got smart and decided to trick Ryokuryuu into telling his friend that the number of beastclan warriors was fewer than it actually was, and by this point, Ryokuryuu was tired of the whole situation and didn't do as much investigating as he should've, causing the trap to work, which in turn caused the death of a couple of his friends, and the wounding of the rest of the group. The only one who didn't get seriously hurt was Ryokuryuu, simply because the beastclans wanted to make him look like a double agent. When everyone was healed, they did indeed blame Ryokuryuu for what had happened, and eventually things got bad enough for him to be told to leave the flight, "just for a little while, for your own good," he was told. So Ryokuryuu left. He says that after his exile, he lived by himself for a long time, though he never specifies exactly
how long, nor does he go into detail, leading one to wonder exactly what had happened in those years. One day, when he was near a port city, he was attacked by some of the beastclans, and injured badly. He managed to hide himself, and tried to call for help. Eventually, a green-haired man found him and nursed him back to health. The time it took for the wind dragon to heal gave him ample time to wonder why he felt such a strong bond with this human. He came to a realization and when he was in better shape, he introduced himself to the human, whose name had been revealed to him not long after they met: Jae-Ha. Ryokuryuu also took the dive, telling Jae-Ha that he was his Dragon Soul. When Jae-Ha flat out refused this fate and left, not contacting Ryokuryuu for a while, the dragon realized just how much freedom meant to the man, but couldn't back down either. When Jae-Ha came back and apologized but still refused the role of Dragon Soul, Ryokuryuu settled in for a long wait. The two became good friends; best friends, even, and finally Jae-Ha gave in, though he did have terms. Ryokuryuu accepted the fact that the man would not sacrifice his freedom, and Jae-Ha accepted that he was a Dragon Soul. After Jae-Ha's acceptance of being the Dragon Soul, Ryokuryuu helped the green-haired pirate to take down the corrupt government. It was at this time that Ryokuryuu first encountered Jae-Ha's dark side, and needless to say, it terrified the Wind dragon. However, Ryokuryuu still puts his trust in Jae-Ha, though he now keeps a wary eye on the green-haired man.
Other: Ryokuryuu is better suited to recon than to battle, but he is terrified that what happened when he was young will repeat itself. He's much more agile than he is strong and tends to be quite the acrobat in the air, knowing many complex maneuvers that can give him an edge in battle, which he developed himself due to his terror of being the scout and messing up again.
Water
Human
Name: Il’lan
Flight: Water
Height: 6’0
Age: 25
Gender & Sexuality: Male, gay
Romance: Open
Appearance:
Personality: LOVES the ocean. You say anything about water he’s all over it like Haru from Free! He enjoys snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, fishing. His enthusiasm is only curbed by his fear of heights. He adores Nilanth and would defend the dragon with his life.
History: Adopted by two loving fathers and raised on the beach, Il’lan had the ocean as a third parent. His aunts taught him how to surf and dive from a young age and that he should always let the extra fish he catches go so that the sea dragons would watch over him when he was out. His fathers always looked out for him, and when he got older the family went surfing together frequently. One day, however, Il’lan wiped out and was caught in a riptide, which sent him far away from shore without his board. Before he knew it, he was too far away to swim back. He was lost and without reprieve from the unforgiving waves, and as he sank into the water, a dragon felt the call for help and rose from the depths, pushing Il’lan back up to the surface. The dragon introduced himself as Nilanth and on the swim back, the two got to know each other better, forging a bond stronger than iron. Now, Il’lan practically lives on the water, Nilanth his guardian and friend as the two explore the deep ocean, and has since his twentieth birthday.
Other: He has blue stripe tattoos that cover his chest, arms, and back. When he got them it was a bit of a culture shock for Nilanth since he never thought that a) humans had colors on their skin outside of browns and pinks, and b) upon realizing this that Il'lan's designs were not natural like the patterning of dragon scales.
Dragon
Name: Nilanth
Age: At least 100 years old
Size: 45 feet long, 5 feet at the shoulder, and 25 feet wingspan; he can carry multiple people
Gender & Sexuality: Also male, also gay
Romance: Open
Appearance:
Personality: Since he comes from deep in the ocean, he’s really not a sociable dragon, but he occasionally has good advice. Occasionally. The rest of the time he’s a surly old man to anybody but Il’lan. His preferred location is deep in the ocean, and if not there then in water.
History: Hatched a century ago at the bottom of the sea, Nilanth never thought much about the world outside the ocean, or even really near the shallows. Sea dragons are among the most secluded and reclusive, avoiding humans with an almost religious effort. It wasn’t until he neared his ninety-fifth year that he heard a far-off cry for help. Like an itch he couldn’t scratch, Nilanth gave in and went to investigate, only to bump nose-first into a sinking human in a wetsuit. Instinct and magic told Nilanth that this human was his soul, it was no wonder the ocean wanted to pull this little human away from the safe land. Since then, Nilanth’s hung around Il’lan and the two have gone traveling together across the open seas.
Other: Nilanth isn't too familiar with humans outside of Il'lan, though his confusion is oft-masked with quietude or annoyance. As a result, Il'lan is easily amused by this and easily smushed under a grumpy dragon paw.
Shadow
Human-
Name: Alice M. Aliste
Flight: Shadow
Height: 5'11
Age: 29
Gender&Sexuality: Male, bisexual
Romance: Single, scaly, and ready to shed some love. XD
Appearance:
Bald, dark-skinned, with his 'scales' covering most of his head and shoulders. Wears long shirts and pants. Constantly wears gloves (It'd be a issue to cook with one's skin falling off). Has both ears pierced, and a tattoo of the side of his head that says 'no pain'. Carries a satchel full of supplies, mostly cream.
Personality: Lax, sarcastic. Takes everything with a grain of salt. Amused by most everything, and has little concern for people's opinions. Highly accepting, and very fond of jokes. Enjoys making dark jokes just to see how people will react. Loves singing, and will most often sing a tune when cooking.
History: Alice took his condition easily, and so did the people around him(Still got teased a bit for his name). He enjoyed a relatively normal childhood, taking on an apprenticeship at a neighboring village. At this point his reception changed. He hadn't grow up with these people, and he was weird. Alice eventually learned accepted the people's scorn as just human behavior, drawing heavily from the acceptance from his home. He completed his apprenticeship as a cook, and decided to leave for more experience at different styles of cooking. He even went as far as to seek a meet with dragonkind for variety, and this is when he met Lapience.
They've been together for almost five years now, and during that time Lapience both published a second book, and convinced Alice to get a tattoo purely so he could point at it when people asked if Alice was okay, or if his condition was painful. The two are counting the days 'til the tattoo disappears from the loss of skin with any ink on it. Lapience hopes it stays forever, and Alice kinda does too, just to hold onto the fun times.
Other: Has bathing suit ichthyosis (technically) that extends a bit more than normally. He needs to apply moisturizing cream, on thick patched only, in morning and evening. He sheds lightly for three days, then heavily for two. He needs to avoid heat, and this is when their powers come in handy. In fact, the two discovered their powers when Larience was freaking out that Alice would shrivel up due to a lack of shade. Since then they have used then rather regularly to keep Alice out of the sun. They were never too curious about the powers. Alice's favorite song is The Moss, although he considers Solar a close second. He hates dry food, and will most likely refuse to eat such food, to Lapience's annoyance. At one point Alice started calling Lapience 'Ence', and Lapience didn't seem to mind so he just kept with it. Note: Alice knows nothing of dragon souls.
Dragon-
Name: Lapience N. Outhsplit
Age: 26
Size: 6'1 (At tallest point (head), so only a bit taller than Alice.)
Gender&Sexuality: Male, gay.
Romance: Got some poetry saved up for a special someone if the decide to come along.
Appearance:
Has a plethora of bags slung over him, as Alice mainly carries cream, so he carries most everything else, from his writing supplies to clothing. Usually has ink stains on his talons and sometimes other random places (Alice's fault).
Personality: Lapience is a jokester, but also very earnest. He loves hearing Alice sing, and oft tries to coax the man to burst out a tune. He is decently active, and had built up some strength carrying all of the stuff the two need. Lapience doesn't mind carrying Alice, and sees humans as equals. He is a bit of a worrier, and has learned a lot of patience from having to wait for Alice. Can be a bit thick. Slightly a bit of a grammar natzi, and is especially harsh on redundant statements. He has little patient for irresponsibility, and will immediately smack Alice with his tail if he dares scratch at his peeling skin.
History: Lapience is the son of a progenitor, and he grew up happily in his home clan, pursuing writing as a career. He published his first novel at 21, with mild success. He was delivered a letter soon after, by Alice, who was a fan of his novel, and sought a face to face meeting. Lapience agreed, and met Alice at the border. He was unusual for a human, and Lapience found no harm in letting him stay with his clan for a while. Alice studied their meals, and Lapience studied him, greatly inspired. When Alice decided it was time to leave, Lapience decided to leave with him, telling the others that he needed more information to properly write his next novel. Alice was happy to have the dragon along, as they had grown close in his stay. They've traveled ever since, stopping at various locations. At one point the two returned to Lapience's clan, and Lapience finalized his book, publishing it with Alice's consent. But the two didn't want to part, nor did they feel particularly inclined to stay, so they left once again, which brings us to today.
Other: Lapience's first novel was a collections of short stories about ghosts entitled 'Remnants'. His second novel is about Alice, and it's title is 'Alice in Wonderland'. He has no working title for the sequel to Alice's novel. He also finds it extremely funny that both him and Alice share 'scales', and similarly colored ones at that. His favorite song is Pelicans, We. Alice helped him discover his sexuality, and even convinced Lapience to come out to his clan when they returned. Lapience trusts Alice enough for him to hold his pearl. Lapience usually shortens Alice's name to 'Ali'. Lapience doesn't like sweet food oddly, and gives it to Alice, much to the man's delight.
When someone stares at the two Lapience likes to turn to Alice and just say, "Man." Alice always replies, "Idiot." Lapience is contractually obligated (not really) to make puns when someone sighs. Alice usually joins in.
Note: Due to Lapience being the son of a progenitor, he was taught about dragon souls, but he hasn't made the connection. (As said before, he's a bit thick.)
Ice
Human
Name: Johan Marnilay
Flight: Ice
Height: 5’11
Age: 26
Gender&Sexuality: Male / Bisexual
Romance: Open (might not be the kind you want until he undergoes character development)
Appearance:
Personality: Highly intelligent, highly educated, born into nobility, attractive and charming, Johan has it all- save his personality. Johan suffers from a lack of empathy and severe god complex, and believes himself and others of his kind to be superior to the common rabble. Johan’s privileged life makes him innately unrelatable to those who have had hardships, and while he is talkative and friendly he himself does not feel any sort of empathy to his peers. Johan is emotionally closed off to everyone but his dragon, whom he has an uncommonly close bond with. Johan is not outwardly and obviously arrogant, but inwardly he holds many people in contempt.
History: The Marnilay family is wealthy among the wealthy and powerful among the powerful, and well respected within their social ranks. Their legacy was cemented upon the arrival of two healthy children- a girl, and a year later, a boy.
Johan Marnilay is the younger child of the Marnilays. His older sister, Annalise, and he were very close to one another at a young age, but that relationship was soon destroyed in the coming years of extreme competitiveness between the two. Their entire lives, they had been told that they were destined for great things- and what evidence was there to disprove this claim for a young boy? At birth, his sister was visited by and bonded with a dragon, and a year later, when he was born, the same thing occurred- something entirely unheard of in the Manilay family. His family had the means to teach them with the most renowned veterans of war, the most educated scholars- at a young age, they were uncommonly knowledgable, and knowledge is power. They wore the finest clothes, and ate the finest food, and never were any dirtier than the day before. Their armor and weapons were crafted and forged by the most respected smiths, with a quality that made them the envy of other blue bloods. Their bond between their dragons was a growing legend, and they grew up thinking, knowing, that they were born with more power and money than a common man would ever achieve a fraction of in his entire life. What was there to deny Johan his calling? As fate would have it, it would be his sister.
Annalise Marnilay was more adept than Johan in everything they attempted. She was more intelligent, more proficient in combat, more skilled in the quiet battlefield of political intrigue than he ever was. Even her dragon, Gywndolin, was stronger and more versatile than Aldrich, Johan’s dragon. In the Marnilay family, the most capable child inherits family affairs, and when the time came Annalise inherited wealth, a considerable army, and more power and influence than any lord could dare dream for. Johan could have easily lived the rest of his life in comfort- but eternally in the shadow of the Head of the Marnilay Family.
That was until he learned that he and Aldrich possessed the Ice Dragon Soul- the epitome of special status and a place in legend. In these times of growing unrest, Johan seeks to use this power to carve a legend of his own- much less for the good of the people.
Other: While Johan sports a high prowess in battle due to the quality of his training, weapons, and armor, he has never been in a real life or death battle. He lacks almost any battle experience, but the political nature of wealthy families causes him to have a high proficiency in defusing situations.
Dragon
Name: Aldrich
Age: Not disclosed, but Johan and Annalise suspect their dragons to be at least 80 years old.
Size: Almost 16 feet in length, easily enough to carry Johan.
Gender&Sexuality: Male, Heterosexual
Romance: Open
Appearance:
Personality: Unlike his human companion, Aldrich is quiet, reserved, and modest. He and his sister Gywndolin are intensely protective and fond of both Marnilay children, but naturally Aldrich has a stronger bond with Johan. Aldrich is unwaveringly loyal to his companion, and despite whatever Johan says, Aldrich will never publicly question or reprimand him. Aldrich is polite and believes in avoiding conflict, and while his companion seeks only personal glory, Aldrich is gravely concerned for the fate of Delvia and seeks to help in any way he can. Despite his pacifist nature, whatever Johan says, goes- Aldrich will easily kill upon request, and his capacity for cruelty matches his companions when it is made to. Similar to Johan, he suffers from a complex, but an inferiority complex, spawned from the fact that his sister had always been bigger and better than he.
History: Aldrich is the younger sibling of a clutch of two, but not by much- his sister Gywndolin hatched only 3 minutes before he did. Gywndolin was a monster of a dragon for her species, with great size, power, and formidability- Aldrich, on the other hand, while large, was dwarfed by his sister. Gywndolin was the chief caretaker of the two given the fact that their parents had abandoned the clutch, and the two spent their time with one another, inseparable. It was one quiet night that Aldrich found Gywndolin gazing silently up at the stars, wings steadily unfolding in preparation for flight.
“Where are you going?” He had asked.
“Something calls to me- someone. Can’t you feel it?” She had replied.
He had shaken his head no- and she given him a small smile, bid farewell, and took off into the night. Aldrich started to follow, but stopped- it was his chance to make his own way in life, and while he loved his sister, maybe this abrupt farewell was for the best. It was only a few months later that he too felt a tug, to someplace unknown that grew stronger with each day. One day, it was too much, and he found himself flying in the same direction as his sister.
He arrived at a human settlement, at a grand castle, and to his confusion, no one seemed scared- it barely registered for him, as he was pulled in the direction of a tower with an open window. Upon arriving, he looked inside to see a newly born child, and his sister with one of her own on her back. From that point on, Aldrich and Gywndolin could not be separated from their respective children, and the rest was history.
Other: Despite being part of one of the wealthiest families in Delvia, Aldrich and his sister don no apparel except a saddle for their owners- this is due to a sense of not needing “such human-like attire”
Lightning
Human
Name: Zixara
Flight: Lightning
Height: 5'6"
Age: 20
Gender&Sexuality: Female -- Pansexual
Romance: Open -- Single
Appearance:
(yes those are one legged pants)
Personality: Zixara is a strong and confident woman, and has no qualms with voicing her opinions, she can be loud and rambunctious but she can also be strong and silent like Enra. When she is silent, she huffs and rolls her eyes, which sometimes elicits a smack in the back of her head from Enra. She can be sweet, however she does have restrictions on getting too close to humans as she hasn't had very good run ins with them. She is aware that Dragon souls exist, however she is skeptical that she is one.
History: The first memories Zixara has are of Enra and the brown wolf pelt she wears. She doesn't remember her parents, and doesn't remember anything of her life with humans. Enra has told her several times about the way she found Zixara, and it has fueled her distrust for humans.
As she grew up she learned to love the dragon way, and learned to dislike the humans more, if only because the dragons to her were so much better and more skilled than humans, especially in the ways that mattered to Zixara, childcare.
As she grew up with Enra, Zixara learned to barter with humans and become something of a thief or a rogue. She is persuasive in her bartering and in her talking, and that is something that was learned by her because of her dealings with traders and merchants across the land.
During one of the several times Zixara has been struck by lightning, she lost sight in her right eye, and covers it with a leather eyepatch to keep people from staring.
Other: Looks like she could kill you, could actually kill you.
Dragon
Name: Enra
Age: 25
Size: When standing on two feet, Enra clocks in at 7'3", however when she walks on all fours she is around 5'4" at the shoulders, and despite her small frame she is large enough to carry Zixara easily.
Gender&Sexuality: Female -- Asexual
Romance: Open -- Good luck.
Appearance:
Personality: Enra is cold but caring. She doesn't show her emotions outwardly but when it is just Enra and Zixara her true, caring and kind self comes out. She can lighten the mood like lightning can lighten the sky, however she can also be as vicious as the raging storms that accompany it. She is usually quiet when in groups, but once she warms up to the group she generally makes more quips or is more talkative in general.
History: Enra has always been an adventurous soul, always wanting to leave her nest to see the wonders of the outside world. When she was 4 she said goodbye to her family and her clan and set off to explore the world, gathering trinkets from all over, and learning different trades from different flights. One of her favorite pastimes is alchemy, and she has gotten good at creating luminescent liquids that glow in the dark, however keeping true to her lightning roots she colors them after the storms.
A year into her travels, she was back in the lightning territory when she found a small human child. The child, she realized very shortly, was alone and crying. Approaching the thing cautiously, she realized that the only scents on this small child were that of the woods, she could sense no human on the child, which is something that very much concerned Enra. She could tell that this child had no means of caring for itself, and that it would surely starve if it was left out alone.
When Enra got closer to the small child, the two made eye contact, their eyes locked and Enra felt an overpowering sense of protectiveness for this child, and to any who had seen it would have known that they imprinted on one another. Deciding that this child was hers now, Enra grabbed the small thing and cooed to it, rocking it in her arms and calming the child who could be no more than 3 human years old.
Once the child had calmed down, it reached for Enra's wolf pelt, grabbing at it and giggling at the dragon.
Since then, Enra has raised the child as her own, teaching her the human language but also the dragon customs, as the child, who has been named Zixara, is Enra's child now. Enra watched the girl grow into a woman and learn the trades of both humans and dragons. Enra considers herself both Zixara's friend and her mother.
Fear struck Enra on the eve of Zixara's "birthday" (the day that Enra found her) when she turned 8, when a large storm rolled around and Zixara was struck by lightning. It seemed to have no adverse effects on the child, however a streak of white hair formed in the girls hair, which is a trend that continued through Zixara's life, leaving her with large chunks of white hair, which she has taken to dying bright aqua to look like Enra's wings.
Other: Looks like she could kill you, is actually a cinnamon roll
Light
Human
Name: Caden Solaire, "Cade"
Flight: Light
Height: 6'0"
Age: 19
Gender&Sexuality: Male, Heterosexual
Romance: Open, but unlikely to make the first move
Appearance:
Personality: Caden is quite creative, intellectual, and spontaneous. His personality is a large reason as to why he enjoys working with his dragon, Raana. They tend to bounce new ideas off of one another, keeping one another focused and making up for the other's faults. While he has his flickering moments of genius, he is often left mindlessly brainstorming new ideas. because of this, Caden will occasionally become lost in thought when not talking with others. Caden sometimes feels misunderstood if someone is put off by his spontaneity. When given a task, Caden will complete it provided there isn't a "more intuitive" way to go about it.
Additionally, Caden is no stranger to taking justice into his own hands. When faced with battle, he will often attempt a more diplomatic approach before resorting to violence. Finally, Caden is uncomfortable being in a position of leadership due to his lack of experience.
History: Caden narrowly managed to escape a time of terrible civil strife in his home kingdom. Only 15, he made a point of running as far away as possible. When Caden finally came upon a busy merchant town, he decided it was the perfect place to disappear. He would just be another face in the crowd. He joined a low-ranked guild so he would have a source of income, which he spent on food, water, and a room at the local inn. When he first met Raana, Caden had been on a scouting mission for his guild. Alone in a makeshift den, the dragon was nursing an injured right arm. He was overcome by his sense of responsibility, even though he would later learn the dragon was four years his elder. He began to visit Raana daily, splitting his rations and keeping her company. The dragon eventually recovered. Knowing she could now hunt on her own, Caden figured he was no longer needed. It was then that Caden realized how much he missed his home. Denying Raana's request for assistance, Caden began his journey back to the kingdom from which he came. The trek, which had seemed like months the first time, was merely a week's journey. But when he found his birthplace, it was desolate. Buildings were destroyed, fields burnt, and not a trace of his family could be found. Bending over to pick up a handful of wood ashes, Caden began to tear up in disbelief. Raana revealed herself, admitting she had been following him and offering consolation. He realized that this dragon all he had left. In a moment of clarity, Caden stated, "I don't want anyone else to have to go through that." The two have since returned to the merchant town nearby where they first met, and have been anonymously helping its inhabitants for a number of years.
Other: Caden has recently begun to discover his unnatural light-based abilities when with Raana. He had heard legends of Dragon Souls over the course of his childhood, but is doubtful of his own importance.
Dragon
Name: Raan-arikuno, prefers "Raana" but was given the pet name of "Ari" by Caden
Age: 23
Size: Raana is approximately 22'0" long from head to tail, and 9'0" tall when on all fours. Although she is quite small for her breed, she is still able to carry Caden with ease.
Gender&Sexuality: Female, Heterosexual
Romance: Closed, since she's not interested in romance at the moment
Appearance:
Personality: Raana is soft-spoken, but not afraid to voice an opinion if she has one. If someone managed to see through her independent facade, they would find that she is incredibly genuine and caring. Raana believes that life is too short to hold grudges, and thus is also very quick to forgive others. Her relationship with Caden is akin to that of an older sister, in that she enjoys teasing him around other people. Even in his rare moments of arrogance or indifference, Raana is there to bring him back to his normal self. Raana is very agile and graceful, both in combat and out. She has also proven herself to be a bit of a tactician (at least, according to Caden).
History: Although not royalty, she was still a respected member of her clan. The majority of her life was spent in ignorance of rising tensions with beastclans. During her seasonal hunt, she made an exceptionally poor landing and fractured her right arm. She had always been taught that "A dragon that can't fend for itself has no right being a burden to others." Embarrassed and ashamed, she didn't bother to call for help until it was too late. Expecting to be neglected by the local townspeople as well, she hobbled into a small cave. Raana hoped her body would heal on its own, but it slowly became apparent that her injury was getting worse. Just when she had accepted her situation, a boy stumbled across her cave. He seemed just as shocked to see her as she was to see him. What surprised her even more is when the boy showed up again the next day. Not only did he bring her food and water, he told her stories to keep her entertained. While they were mostly old legends, he also included stories from his childhood. As he told the stories though, Raana could tell how homesick the boy really was. When she was able to walk again, Raana offered to fly Caden back to his kingdom as a means of repaying his kindness. The boy refused, though. Determined to repay her debt, she followed Caden without his knowledge. It was during this time that Raana grew very protective of Caden. At the end of the week-long journey, Raana was just as devastated as Caden to find his home burnt to the ground. She realized how much she cared for these people that, in truth, had known so little about. Revealing herself to Caden, she offered her help once again. Both of them have henceforth been dedicated to helping others.
Other: Like Caden, Raana is also familiar with the legends of Dragon Souls. However, she had discovered her abilities at a much earlier age. She has her suspicions that she may in fact be the Light Dragon Soul.
Nature
Human
Name: Leila "Lei" Vasquez
Flight: Nature
Height: 5'3"
Age: 17
Gender&Sexuality: Feminine - Biromantic Homosexual, but acts pan
Romance: Open but she's a lil difficult to deal with
Personality: Lei is pure spunk. Despite her small stature and childish looks, Lei has a terrifying amount of aggression and pride, seemingly always four steps ahead - literally. She's a born leader and huntress, despite her hatred for her family. Lei is childish and teasing, always showing affection through playful bites (remarks). She has a soft heart for nature and possesses the natural green thumb other Nature Souls has been known to possess - although she couldn't name a tiger lily if you asked her. Lei possesses remarkable "street-smarts" but her arrogance overlaps it.
History: Lei was born to Maria Vasquez, a strong woman with a kind heart, and Richard Harper, a blacksmith who's muscles were more impressive than his brain. They were respected in a small village just outside the primary forest, and killed in a horrifying raid when Lei was one year old. It was at that moment that Lucinda Esmerelda Vasquez became Leila Falcone, adoptive (
stolen) daughter of Theodore and Kolki Falcone, two powerful huntsman, and as Lei grew older, criminals. They poached the animals and lands, taking dragons and humans hostage and selling them to others as slaves or pets. Another stolen child (Gerard Almound, Lei remembers he was renamed Garroth) had coddled Lei from the moment she was dropped into the household. He had sold the oldest for a young green dragon with luminous scaled and soft stripes as a gift for a four-year old Leila, and a soft pink Skydancer with metallic purple wings for his own.
Six years later, Lei and Leodegan learned the truth of the operation and found themselves on the run.
Other: does not look like d.va but is secretly d.va and possibly team bab
_____
Dragon
Name: Leodegan
Age: Unknown, although he matured fully two years after Lei was born.
Size: Stands at seven feet, and his wingspan is 12 feet
Gender&Sexuality: Masculine - Hetero/Ace
Romance: heh okay open
Personality: Constantly worried, Leodegan seems rather uncaring to most others. This is heavily ironic, because Leodegan cares
much too much, and can be constantly seen fussing over Lei. To those that know him, he is softhearted and kind, trustworthy... yet vicious. He, like Lei, is easily annoyed and has a horrible temper that is rarely sated. His blindness is perhaps the most mentally weakening, and teasing him for it tends to cause him to snap the quickest. This is one of the reasons he wears the skulls; not as a shutout to his past, but to hide his disability and cause others to fear him.
History: Unlike Lei, Leodegan was not stolen into the trade. He was
bred into it. He and his sister were born to the strongest fighters Jean, a loyal member of an underground slave ring, had, and were soothed into the lifestyle immediately after they hatched. Infected with strength enhancing drugs and trained constantly, Neither his sister nor Leodegan were aware of anything but the exilhiration of killing to receive victory. It was all they were as hatchlings, and when a golden boy with stained blue eyes bought him away, Leodegan was
furious. He thrashed, using his unnatural nature-calling abilities to fight his new owner until he was introduced to a firey girl with the same eyes as his own. Something in his rough exterior cracked.
During his time with the Falcone family, Leodegan was primarily a bodyguard for Lei, who was the rightful heir after the golden-boy's assassination. He genuinely enjoyed his time with the spitfire - his more calm interior matched her angry exterior perfectly, and she was changing him.
Together, they began to investigate what Falcone was leaving to Lei. Leodegan was the first to discover that Lei had been taken captive, told by an elderly imperial who was crushed by a tree. He resorted to telling her during archery practice, and was terrified when an arrow imbedded itself near his tail.
The rest is a blur in Leodegan's mind, a history untold from his teenage friend.
Other: despite being born blind, leodegan's primal nature and Nature Soul abilities allowed him to live.
Plague
Human
Name: Kazul
Flight: plague
Height:5'3"
Age: 21
Gender&Sexuality: female- heterosexual
Romance: open (but she's not one to go after another person due to the fact she's pretty oblivious)
Appearance:
Personality: She can be rather hard to understand, and much like her element, extremely volatile. However, when it comes to her friends, she will not hold anything back, doing whatever she can to protect them. She is a natural born survivor, and though she would rather protect everyone, she knows when to be realistic and when to cut heavy baggage loose in order to protect other lives. She can be rather clever and something of a trickster as well, so it is probably wise to watch your wallet around her. She also knows the intricacies of the courts and how to speak to someone politely while at the same time insulting them. She has a small hatred for rich folk who think they are above everyone else... and will often try to break their perceptions of the world upon meeting them.
History: Born and raised in the Plaguelands, she had to learn to adapt quickly or die. She once lived on the streets of a rather massive city. In this city she was one of the many children without homes or families, because of their parents being taken by the many diseases of the land. She learned how to support herself by hustling others out of their money. When she became good enough to support herself, she started teaching other children, and may or may not have started a small unit of organize child crime. However, when she turned ten, her dragon appeared before her, drawn by the magic within her, and she was taken off the streets. From here she was educated on how to be a proper lady as well as how to fit in with society. Upset by her new status, she was outed from her belonging to her old family as she became a public figurehead. Historically speaking, former plague souls became something of a public figurehead and a puppet for those who ran the village. So, those she grew up with on the streets wanted nothing to do with the trouble she might bring and shunned her from them.
She is now trying to prove to them she is not a public figurehead or a puppet by joining with the other souls and facing off against the beastclans.
Other: She carries a small spiked mace (the size of a hammer) at her hip, and has spiked iron knuckles she dons in a fight.
____
Dragon
Name: Felkestmaar
Age: at least a few centuries old.
Size: 14 feet long from her tail to her head, with a 14 foot wingspan (like over two times as tall as her human, with a wingspan as long as she is tall, she is a rather impressively large skydancer)
Gender&Sexuality: Female- Heterosexual
Romance: You can try, but she will be a very difficult target.
Appearance:
Personality:
Headstrong and defiant, she is a true wild animal who doesn't care what others have to think or say. She can come off intimidating, crass, and violent. She has these fits of rage which she explodes into where she can be a vicious and crazed monster. It is wize to steer clear of her during these explosive outbursts, because she will harm whomever dares to come near her. She seems to be at odds with her human companion Kazul, the two both having strong personalities leading to shouting matches and fights. However, despite this, she cares for her human companion, seeing something of herself in Kazul. When it comes to interactions with other dragons, she tends to like to intimidate them initially to give them a scare.
History: Felkestmaar has been through quite a lot in her years, including the death of her mentor and best friend. She turned against humans for an entire year of her life, destroying them one by one as revenge for the murder of her mentor and best friend. After her rage had ended, she kept herself isolated from the world until she felt a twinge of magic pulling at her soul. She made her way towards the pull and found a young Kazul surrounded by poverty and filth. For some reason, she decided to forgo her hatred of humans to protect this singular one, something deep in her body commanding her to do so. She still doesn't understand why she feels the need to protect Kazul, but very much appreciates the wit her companion brings, and how Kazul and her have small battles of wit from time to time.
Other: She fights like a beautiful and intimidating dance, using her wings and tail to balance herself. She also attempted to teach Kazul her odd way of fighting, but was met with rather poor results.
