Caroline's first shot blows the hand off the thing holding the nuke launcher. She'd be damned it it managed to shoot that thing in the three seconds they had to run.

Her second shot hits its mark perfectly with the dull thud of lead on metal. It it about a millisecond later that she realizes that if her brace is too clogged to crouch, like hell she's going to be able to run. She drops, and with adrenaline surging through her, manages to rip the metal bolts from the joins of the godforsaken thing, losing precious seconds.

"Go!" she snaps, before she sprints as fast as her faulty leg will allow through the doorway she had never moved from. She ignores her leg screaming at her as she veers as far away from the car as she can, boots pounding at the deprecated pavement.

When the car explodes it takes out everything Caroline thought it would - dirt flies, wood splinters, and the mutants howling screams are cut short by their gruesome ends. Caroline is not as far away as she wished she was, and if she was not running for her life she would've cursed whatever god there was for her ailment.

The force of the blast sends her flying several feet forwards, landing on the ground with a harsh thud. She tastes blood but resists the initial urge to lift her head and spit it out. She is disorientated, but if she really flew as far as she did she should be a good distance away. Not that she could get her leg to bear enough of her weight to stand with the brace dismantled anyways.

She curls in on herself and covers the back of her head with her arms, hoping that nothing too substantial decided to fall on her.

Caroline fires her gun, and Coreau wastes no more time waiting for the others. The former had managed to cripple the thing holding the missile launcher. That just left stray bullets and a fiery explosion to avoid. Their odds were improving.

Coreau took off at a sprint, lungs screaming and dark spots bleeding into her vision. Don't pass out, she begged her body, not now, you won't get up again.

She felt the explosion a second before she heard it.

The heat licked at her back and the shockwave sent her sprawling into the dirt. She gasps for air like a drowning man, braced against the unforgiving ground as shrapnel and debris flies past her. One clips her ear and she forces herself lower against the dirt, clasping her hands over her neck and head. The air is acrid in her mouth. It makes her gag.

The dust settles and she pushes herself up on her elbows (wincing as the movement jarred the wooden splinters in her arms), glancing behind her. The house was completely destroyed, but the blast did what they'd hoped - there was nothing but bloody pieces left of the super mutants.

Her eyes didn't want to focus, but she steeled herself, peering through the smoke, trying to find who else had survived. She tried to remember where they were - they'd all been so close to the car. Bear and Caroline had been in the house, hadn't they? And Crow by the car moments before it was shot.

Coreau dropped her head back onto the ground, limbs shaking and vision steadily darkening. The other three dying didn't have the same appeal anymore - she wouldn't make it out of her alive by herself.

Bear was right on Caroline's heels, but at the angle he ran, the explosion didn't send him out the door frame so much as into it. His shoulder smashed against the frame, bouncing him to the ground--though he was lucky that the door frame was sturdy and he didn't get caught under debris. Slowly, carefully, he pulled himself out of what was left of the house, ending up on his knees.

"I-is everyone st-still alive?" He'd hit his head pretty hard on the ground, and his vision hadn't cleared yet, but he could make out the forms of the others through the blur... he just hoped they'd all made it. He felt something bump against his back, turning to find his dog, who'd probably escaped the whole affair before the car even exploded. The animal looked no worse for wear. Bear couldn't say the same for himself.

With the adrenaline finally wearing off, he took stock of his own injuries. He hadn't dislocated his shoulder when he slammed into the door frame, but it sure felt like it. He definitely hit his head dangerously hard, and there were a few cuts and scrapes where he'd been hit by debris. That, and a serious pain in his abdomen just below his rib cage. Checking that could wait, though, until he was sure the others were alive.

"C'mon... s-someone respond. I c-can't be the on-only one that m-made it."

Crow had been the closest to the car and took the worst of the blast. Though at least she wasn't completely evaporated like the super mutants, the shockwave flung her several yards away with a resounding thud, causing her to land on her injured shoulder. The heat caused a painful sear along her back and her ankle felt twisted at an odd angle. The only good thing was on the ground, most of the shrapnel flew over her, only earning her smaller scratches and cuts from flying splinters.

Raven limped over to the girl--the dog had been tossed around as well, and favored her weight on her left side than her right--a nasty gash on her flank soon revealed why. The dog snuffled her master, whining quietly before letting out a series of frustrated barks. Crow didn't respond.

Raven barked again, nudging her mistress with renewed determination, tugging at her shirt. Then a low groan of pain from the girl as she moved, her non-injured arm flailing out to try and find her bags. If she was lucky, the stimpaks hadn't been cracked by the impact and she could use them still. She needed one to dull the pain and speed up the body's healing process--there was no way she'd be able to move otherwise.

The area is eerily silent after the blast, the only sounds being the noise of a few more pieces of house falling to the ground and the insistent ringing in Caroline's ears. Slowly she rolls onto her back, gasping for breath before relief floods her. She was alive. Stuck like a pin cushion but alive. A breathy bout of laughter escapes her, that quickly morphs into a pained groan as adrenaline wore off and she came to terms with just how injured she was.

Her arms and left side of her face are full of wood and sting something terrible, and the blood running into her eyes leaves her vision red. The impact from the blast and the ground had made her hurt like hell, and if a rib wasn't broken it was certainly bruised, and she had bitten through her lip on impact. Her leg was screaming at her for running without the pins still in her brace, and she knows that even if she reassembled the contraption it probably would not bear her weight.

She hears Bear and relief licks at her again. He had refused to leave before her, and if he was alive, the rest had a fair chance as well.

"I'm alive," she grits in response, before pushing herself up into a sitting position to scan the desecrated town. She can see Bear on his knees closer to the house. She can't see Coreau. She can, however, see Crow searching for her bag with one arm, the other slowly forming a pool of blood on the uneven pavement. She tries to stand, only for her leg to give out underneath her, shaking like a frail leaf. She growls at it and spits blood onto the ground.

"Hey, if you can move, I think Crow needs help" she says to Bear. She tries her best to sound indifferent - she barely knows these people for god's sake - but with Crow hurt and Coreau missing she can't be bothered to make it as convincing as her usual false apathy is.

Bear's voice sounded far away, and she struggled to make sense of his words. It was hard to concentrate on anything other than the lack of air in her lungs and pain in every other inch of her body. Through sheer will she managed to push herself up onto all fours. She took stock of her surroundings.

She had gotten farthest from the house when the blast went off, as she'd suspected. The explosion had ripped part of the house apart, and a huge piece of metal wall separated her from the others. She dragged herself, unable to stand, around the corner of it and caught sight of the others.

Bear was the furthest from her, on his knees by the house with his dog. Injured, but alive. Caroline and Crow were in the dirt. The latter looked dead, and wouldn't it have served the kid right for being so close to the car. But Coreau spotted the weak arm movement as the kid tried to reach her bag.

The bag and kid were closest to her. With a silent snarl she moved again, half-dragging half-pushing herself across the ground towards the kid, grabbing the bag in the process. Coreau spared Raven a nervous glance as she got close to the pair, digging around in the bag until her fingers closed over the familiar form of a stimpak.

"D-don't bite m-me," She whispered to the dog between coughs. Her hands wouldn't stop shaking but she managed to jam the hypo into Crow's arm, just above the bullet wound. Somehow the kid managed to get herself shot as well.

"You've got r-rotten luck, little bird." The words were whispered and nearly lost in her wheezing.

Coreau managed to pull herself into a sitting position, resting her head on her knees, trying to keep as still as possible.

She hoped Bear was able to walk - by the looks of it both he and Caroline needed medical attention as well, but she'd have better luck winning the lottery than finding the strength to move again until the asthma attack passed (which it wouldn't while she kept breathing in all this dust, she thought viciously).

Coreau closed her eyes. "C-can you walk?" She asked the girl next to her. Someone needed to see to Caroline and Bear if he was unable to move. She needed these people alive, and the thought made her stomach curdle.

Bear nodded to Coreau as she helped Crow. At the very least her condition may become more stable. He snapped his fingers to his dog, who trotted off into the debris of the house to retrieve the man's bag. With it returned he quickly took inventory of his supplies, stowing his rifle as he did. Most of what was inside was intact, besides a couple stimpaks that hadn't made it. He was down to seven--hopefully that would be enough.

He got to his feet, with his dog's help, though he was unsteady and moved fairly slowly over to Crow. He motioned for Coreau to see to Caroline.

"I-I'll do what I c-can to help her," he said, getting down on his knees and inspecting the teen's injuries. He didn't seem worried about the dog, and in fact moved over to her to have a look at her own injuries, provided she wasn't too defensive about it. He grabbed one of his remaining stimpaks, and moved to inject it into Raven's flank, as close as she'd let him get to her injury. It would help the pain, and the healing, but it wouldn't stop the bleeding... and he didn't have any bandages. He was wracking his brain for solutions when he was distracted by the sudden sound of a voice--one that was eerily like his own, and all too familiar to him.

"Finally! I can't believe--of all places for me to find you, here?" The cyber-dog at Bear's side let out an excited bark, practically leaping over Crow to rush over to the new arrival; a man that, had it not been for the difference in hair style, facial hair and muscle definition, would be completely identical to Bear. He was dressed in a stylish pre-war suit, that looked unusually unmarred by the normal wear of the wastes. He crouched to greet the dog that had run up to him, then turned his gaze to the scene before him. "... What exactly did I walk in on?"

"B-Boris, I--wh-... wh-what're you--how?" The man laughed, standing and brushing off his pants.

"I followed you, of course," he said, walking closer. Bear watched him, clearly confused. "You're a tough man to track, I'll give you that. Trekking through so much barren wilderness instead of settled areas where there are people to question... but! Here we are, eh? None the, uh... well, I'm none the worse for wear. Not sure about you and your... well. Friends? Never took you for a ladies' man, brother."

"Why?" Bear slumped to the ground, gesturing toward Boris as he asked the question, who smiled and shrugged.

"Why not? Looks like you need help, anyway, so I'd say my timing is pretty good. I'm not a doctor but I know a thing or two about sewing people back together when they've been too hard-headed to stay out of trouble." The last part was pretty clearly a specific dig at Bear, who frowned, but didn't respond. He wasn't entirely sure how. This was the last thing he'd expected the wasteland to throw at him, after all. Boris just stood at a safe distance from the group, hands in the pockets of his slacks.

"Mm? So? Damage report, Cub--"

"We're th-the same age..."

Raven let out a loud whine as Coreau came up to them, tail lashing. Crow was only half-aware of the woman coming up to her until she felt the needle in her arm and her voice.

"You've got r-rotten luck, little bird."

Crow managed to crack a weak smile at that, the stimpak already starting to kick in. The burn pains had dulled a bit and her shoulder was numb from the injury, even if it was still oozing. The minor scrapes were nothing more than a slight nuisance and she felt like she could almost breathe normally and her heart wasn't going to pound out of her chest. Almost, anyways.

Raven pricked her ears when Bear jammed the stimpak into her side, but otherwise didn't react, well used to the sensation even if it was from a stranger. At the very least, it meant that she didn't have to limp so hard anymore, able to ignore the pain. She did flick her attention to the new man, weakly baring her teeth as if unsure what to make of the stranger.

"Stand down, pup." Crow managed to whisper wearily, trying to focus on the conversation around her. At least the stimpak meant the pain had dulled to a tolerable level, the only thing that really burned now was her pride. She could vaguely hear what was going on. Someone new had shown up, evidently knew Bear. That probably meant he wasn't a threat, not yet anyways. Not that she was going to worry about it anyways, half-dead as she was.

Caroline registers that someone was tending to Crow - Coreau is alive, she realizes - and Bear is up and walking. She lets her forehead drop back down to the dirt, taking steadying breaths. With the adrenaline gone her whole body stung, and she is aware of how hard the breath was knocked from her lungs when she collided with the pavement.

There was a new voice. She almost passed it off as Bear, her ears ringing too hard to make out real words, until the lack of stutter clicked in her brain. She is fast to draw her revolver from where is is tucked out of sight beneath her jacket, cracking the safety off and taking aim. When no one else reacted, and Bear looked as though he knew the other man, she lets that hand collide with the ground before she snaps the safety back off.

She gathers her bearings just enough to push herself back up into a sit, shaking her head against the bout of dizziness it caused. She has to yank her bad leg into a bend, gritting her teeth and hissing at the pain. Her hands are shaking as she tries to jam the pins back into the joints of the brace. She really needed a quiet place to fix the stupid thing (this was supposed to be it, damn it!) but for now she twists the rusty metal against the feeble steel in hopes it would go back together.

She doesn't expect aid - never does - especially with Crow so injured. She doesn't have a stimpack, god knows she goes through those at the same rate she goes through bullets when she has them. After a few moments of futile jamming and rattling to her brace the pins slide home like they've always been there. Caroline groans in frustration and leans her forehead on the crippled limb, letting the blood from her busted lip drip onto her pants.

She didn't look up or open her eyes as Bear approached and knelt beside Crow. The kid didn't seem to be on death's door anymore, so her...concern (for lack of a better word) had reached its limit. She wasn't sure how adequate Bear's first aid skills were but she hoped it was at least decent enough to keep the kid from bleeding out.

Coreau didn't move upon hearing the newcomer's voice. She thought for the briefest of seconds it was Bear, but there was no stuttering, and the tone was wrong. Her head stayed on her knees, eyes still closed, but every muscle locked up as a fresh wave of alarmed rolled through her. Her ragged breathing, which she had been trying to regulate, spiked.

She cracked an eye open. The man looked like Bear with none of the mannerisms and a few minor variances. Coupled with an easy going manner in spite of the situation that set Coreau's teeth on edge.

Getting her armed-to-the-teeth neighbor back on her feet was looking like a good idea.

She grabbed another stimpak from Crow's bag for good measure before shuffling towards Caroline. Even this small amount of movement left her breathless again. She eyed her neighbor's braced leg - would even be able to stand on that thing after this mess?

Coreau hands the other woman the hypo. "Anything broken?" She croaks before coughing into her arm. Her mouth bumps into one of the splinters in her forearm and with a weak snarl she rips it out. She examines it between two fingers before looking back at Caroline, twirling the bloodied piece of wood. "Any of these you need pulled out?"

It was a poor attempt at humor, something she wasn't known for or overly fond of. But if it helped get her into Caroline's good graces, it was worth it.
