Silversnow hissed. "Don't talk about Tall-leg that way. You taught him fear. And for as long as I live, I will not allow you to do that to any cat in the clans, any cat anywhere. You don't deserve your lives."

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Brokenstep call out to Brightleap, before turning away. As much as she wanted to rip into his throat, she decided to give the siblings a moment first. Even though Brightleap was no longer a Marshclan warrior, Silversnow hoped that her loyalty to Stormclan would hold.

She turned to Redfur. There was a scent of milk around her, an indication that she was pregnant. She can't possibly run in this condition.

Silversnow turned to Maplestar, giving her a questioning look. It was Stormclan's territory, therefore it was their decision. "Maplestar, I'd like to…finish a job. Permission to run off without your warriors clawing me down?"

Addergaze allowed his hackles to raise on the back of his neck. His white fangs glistened against his black fur and he narrowed his gold eyes with a silent threat. He unsheathed his claws at Foxstar's words. He let out a deep and threatening battle cry when Foxstar called her Maplebrook. This was actually quite out of character for Addergaze, who usually remained silent. However, the situation before him was enough to even rile up the usually mute tom cat.

Addergaze's fur bristled uncomfortably at the fear scent of Redfur, who was clearly pregnant judging by her swollen stomach. Addergaze felt a lurch of regret. Some cat was going to have to fight the she cat, who despite her fear, had her claws out and was ready to fight them. He disliked the idea of fighting a pregnant cat.. but she was Foxstar's sister. And he knew the wrath of Queens well. Just because they were pregnant didn't mean they weren't capable of fighting. When he had been an apprentice, one of the Queens had attacked him to drive him away from the den, believing him to be back luck to the kits in her belly. He had taken quite a beating, mainly because he had been too stunned to fight back.. and even if he could attack, he would never have attacked her in her state. But this was different. Addergaze had to tell himself. Redfur was an enemy. If she attacked, Addergaze would not let her touch any of his clan cats. However, if she tried to flee, he would not pursue her.

Addergaze doubted Redfur would run with the sheer amount of hostility echoing off the cats, including himself. So he would have to leap in front of all of the other cats and find a way to dispatch Redfur without killing her.. even if Redfur didnt diserve to live.. her kits had done nothing wrong. He wasn't so certain the other cats in his clan thought the same.

Before Addergaze could take up his position, he caught a glimpse of Silversnow, who seemed to be inching away from them. His ears lay flat and he diverted her eyes to the she-cat. Before long, she noticed his eyes and spoke.

"I'd like to finish a job. Permission to run off without your warriors clawing me down?" Silversnow meowed

Addergaze's hackles rose as he imagined Silversnow having free reign anywhere near their territory.. When he hardly knew her true thoughts and what this 'job' was. For all he knew, it could be a plot to kill Maplestar herself. No way was he going to let his eyes off this she cat. Starclan only knew what the devious she cat was planning.

Addergaze lashed his tail uncomfortably. In the end, it was up to Maplestar to decide what should be done about this deserter. She was the clan leader. He would obey her orders.. because Maplestar was clan leader.. and he trusted her judgement above all.

sobs I wrote so much and nearly finished, but the iPad hanged and the browser crashed and //lays down))

Wildfire slowed his pace as he noticed the rest doing so, but kept the distance between them (not too close to create chaos if they were to be ambushed, but not too far to be too late late in intercepting an attack). He was on high alert, ears and whiskers perked and twitching, straining to listen or sense anything hiding in the underbrush. There was nothing aside from the leaves rustling and the prey flitting about, but Wildfire was attentive still to every sound the forest made, keeping down the small suspicion that Foxstar was behind every one. It would not do if he were distracted, and it would not do if he suspected everything.

He sniffed the air, trying to detect past his Clanmates, and thought he'd scented something until he noticed Brightleap lagging behind from her original position. Wildfire was a friend to everyone, but as much as he wanted to make the she-cat feel at home with them, he could not help but think she was up to something. Was this a ruse? Were they being set up? It would not be the first time Wildfire had been tricked by someone he had thought would not harm him. Memories of the old home surfaced, and he remembered how a cat he had once called a Clanmate turned on his sister, who had been heavily injured on the leg, and killed her instantly. If it had not been for another he had known back when the Clans were at peace, Wildfire would have died.

It's been so long, and Wildfire wonders how Redhorse is doing.

There had been many who looked away in discomfort at the mention of the old tom's name, and Wildfire guessed his death had left a large impact on their lives. In respect, he stopped bringing him up, but continued to thank him for the time then.

Now was not the time to reminisce, however, and Wildfire shook his head, catching the scent of another cat. Foxstar emerged from the undergrowth, and with him two more cats. They all had the underlying scent of MarshClan, and the black tom could practically taste the animosity and hostility spilling from his Clanmates - Addergaze especially.

As Foxstar began to speak, Wildfire pushed his way to the front, just beside the aforementioned tom. While Addergaze had always been a little too creepy for his tastes, Wildfire had admired his strength as an apprentice and always wanted to approach him, but chickened out at every last second - mostly because he was too hung up on thinking of actually talking to someone he idolized, creepy gaze or not. Now, though, allowed no room for such childish wonder and nervousness, and he flanked the older tom as he unsheathed his claws, hackles raised and muscles tensed, readying himself to attack.

The she-cat with Foxstar looked terrified, and probably was shaking if Wildfire squinted. But her readied claws and steady stance told him that she was not going without a fight, despite her showing belly. It made Wildfire's gut drop at the prospect of hurting the innocent kits inside, ignorant of what was happening, with the unfortunate chance of being pulled into this.

Another voice spoke, and a stockier looking Ashwing stepped forward. It gave pause to the animosity in Wildfire to see him - he knew Brightleap was a part of the siblings, and to have Brightleap with them whilst they had the intention of retaliating with fang and claw they would much rather avoid but would still most likely have to end up doing. It made the suspicion Wildfire had for the she-cat fade away in favour of wondering how she's taking this.

The growing pity was soon diminished once his attention was brought to Silversnow, however. It made Wildfire nearly spit in rage at her - he could not believe the audacity she had to be requesting such a thing. Did she not know she was a trespasser on their territory, as well as a rogue? Did she really think she would be allowed such a request, despite the situation they were in?

Wildfire looked at Maplestar. Anger was bubbling in his tummy, and he wished to step up and lash at Silversnow's ears for her character. She was trained as a deputy, and this is how she was acting? Rude. He kept his gaze switching from Silversnow to the rogues infront of them, watching Foxstar carefully. His taunting had planted a seed of annoyance in him, and Silversnow's actions only made it grow quickly. He would love nothing more than to do a good few blows to their faces.

He huffed in anger, but stood still, awaiting Maplestar's orders.

Makibaka // Dare to Fight
As Brightleap and the others got nearer and nearer to Foxstar, the air around the she-cat gradually started to feel deadened and lifeless, and even the brave tufts of grass that fought against the oncoming winter seemed to bow down and wilt under the oppressive atmosphere. The air chilled and, to the usually resilient cat, swirl about her, weaving it's way under her pelt and steal the warm bravery that she depended on to fuel her legs into motion, leaving her with tense legs and an apprehensive feeling in her gut that weighed her down against her own natural motions.
A quick intake of this air, chilly and freezing her lungs enough to make her forget to exhale, held the scent of the cat they were after, Foxstar. She flexed her muscles and claws, as though testing to see if they still worked properly, and did her best to pull and expressionless mask over her face as the battle scarred tom walked out of the bushes and revealed himself to the group, obviously expecting their arrival despite being ill equipped to handle all the cats Maplestar had brought along.
As he began his little speech- had he planned it out?- she felt her lungs begin to burn and she let out the long held breath, and for a fleeting moment it brought a mild sense of relief to her. Ignoring the fact that the tom was her ex-leader, the situation seemed so familiar. A small fight over land disputes, or perhaps the chasing of a loner from the clan territory. It related so easily, that if she just pretended these were other cats, she could allow herself to fall into this brief fantasy of normalcy...

"Brightleap!"

Her eyes, momentarily closed, had flung open and her head swiveled around for the source of the voice, but she already knew who it was before landing her soft green eyes on him. The voice had given it away, and not just the identity to the cat either.
"Onefang...?" She murmured, bewildered, her voice soft as she spoke the name of her brother, the name of the cat that stood of the opposite side. She watched as he spoke a heartbreaking apology, before turning his head as though shielding his eyes of her standing there would make the whole scenario not exist. Her heart thumped painfully in her chest, then picked up as her fur bristled at the sight of her brother, sniffling and cowardly. Weren't they supposed to be a team, litter-mates?! What had happened to the brave cat that recklessly chased foxes on his own?! Weren't they supposed to be standing together, watching each others backs and caring for the clan?
When had he changed...?
Forgetting her 'mask', she snarled at him, her tail lashing as her eyes turned to slits, and mustering up all the anger she could Brightleap aimed it at Brokenstep, intending that he should see where their brother-sister relationship was now. Wanting him to know that she was mad enough to purposely show it, and she felt her claws ripping up grass from the hardened ground. She wanted to rake her claws across the toms pelt, but each time her muscles bunched in preparation at the thought, images of what her brother had been like before entered her head. The faint memory of them as kits, young and still mewling in high pitched voices, the cheers that rose up around them at having survived the harsh night after being birthed, made her turn away from him.
Her mind returned to her, and while she couldn't entirely keep all her emotions hidden she dulled down the appearance somewhat as she took in a deep breath, forcing the fur on her back to lie flat.
"Don't talk to me, not now, not ever again." She hissed at the tom, and this time it was her that let her gaze slip away from the other cat, doing her best to refuse the meaning he had once held in her life.

Brokenstep lowered himself to the ground, he covered his face with his paws, the one Silversnow had ruined still smelled like dried blood to him. This wasn't what he wanted, this wasn't what he wanted at all. Right now he wanted to be a kit, no a apperentice sitting in the forbidden warrior's den listening to their father Longwhisker tell them a story. His heart ached, his body ached. But Foxstar was the rightful leader.

He wanted more than anything just to go over to his sister, bury his face in her soft fur and forget any of this was happened. But instead he was in a brisk leaf-bare, the grass underneath him crumbling, the distant shriek of a thunderpath monster in the distance. He heard Brightleap hiss at him

"Don't talk to me, not now not ever again."

It broke him. First Turtleshell saying he was just like Redhorse, now Brightleap turning on him too. "There is no star clan..." Brokenstep felt numb, he picked himself up off the ground, his eyes turning to Redfur, he could tell the queen was terrfied, her kits were due too soon for her to be reallly running, would one of the Stormclan warriors let the poppy colored she-cat leave unscratched?

Copperfur paws hit the hard ground as they stopped. He paused, looking at Foxstar, trying to size him up. He was a large cat but his size almost seemed to match Addergaze's and Copperfur was right behind Addergaze on the sizing chart. He flicked his tail at Addergaze's screech. 'Calm yourself...' he thought to himself about Addergaze. They could defiantly take him down, why was he so worried before? He stood near Maplestar, in the middle. If Foxstar pounced, which he guessed would be his first move, a warrior could easily get underneath him and slash at his belly. Oh the logic felt amazing. He was just so sure of Foxstar's move. What else could he possibly do?

Copperfur visibly tensed as Brokenstep and Brightleap had their conversation. He was ready to attack the she-cat if she showed any signs of betrayal. He relaxed slightly when her reaction seemed to be hostile, but still was on very high alert. He hoped Brightleap would understand Maplestar's reasoning to put him up to this and wouldn't have hard feelings against him.

There seemed to be.... a queen here? Why would a queen follow Foxstar out into exile? She must be regretting this now. He locked his eyes on her for a moment. He wasn't going to pity her. She chose this life. He glanced towards Silversnow..... Idiot If she wanted to kill Foxstar herself, why would she ask Stormclan warriors to accompany her? He waited for Maplestar's orders, silently.

Maplestar's body was stiff and focused as they walked around a particularly nasty looking set of brambles. They had been walking for what seemed like forever, but Maplestar knew it was all in her head. Her brain couldn't focus on their surrounds, could see no difference between the last tree and the next. While her body moved on its own accord, her mind was elsewhere. She only faintly felt the brush of her pads against the cold hard ground, only slightly heard the sound of the distant birds. If she had been on her own, Maplestar could have been lying on the ground dying before she realized what was happening. Normally the she-cat would have been focused, attentive, and in control but as the patrol crept closer and closer to their intended target her mind slipped away from them more and more.

As the threat of war loomed over them, Maplestar was fighting a battle inside herself. She didn't know what to do with the situation she was in. Not many leaders went through the threat of a full blown war, as no rational clan wanted to spill blood when it wasn't needed. But here she stood, leader to clan and facing a familiar enemy. She remembered what the clans had been like moons ago when she was so young and hopeful for peace. No peace had come to aid her, only more bloodshed and chaos too far beyond repair. That is why she had become such a strong believer in the code for it was the breaking of the warrior code that had brought the end to the clans before. She would not live through that again. Still, Maplestar could see no end or solution to Foxstar's tyranny that did not involve the tom's death. She did not want to kill, it was not her place to decide the death of another, but was that what Starclan wanted? Did they want her to kill, to put the blood of another on her claw. She would protect her way of life, but to what end?

Listening to the sound of her fellow warriors following behind her, she noticed the surety in their steps despite the fear of the unknown filling the air around them. They had confidence in her and she could feel their loyalty to not only her but Stormclan. They would support her decisions and ideals for the clan, it was just she herself who stood their, so unsure.

Shaking her doubts and her fears, Maplestar focused once more when the familiar scent of Foxstar hit her nose. Turning her gaze to rest on the figure of the ex-leader, Maplestar watched as he stepped from the bushes. So sure of himself, so cocky, so crude. As he spoke Maplestar made up her mind. She would end him. If she had to. If that was what Starclan wished of her, then that was what she must do. Instead of getting angry like she could feel her clanmates becoming she instead stared silently at the tom and the two cats that stood beside him. Maplestar waited her face a mask of nothingness. She didn't even flinch when he used her warrior name instead of her Starclan given one. She watched silently, analyzing every move the tom made from the movement of his mouth to the twitch of his fur. It wouldn't be easy to take this tom down, to force him to shed every life he still held in his paws. But it wasn't impossible either. As she watched she waited, knowing her clanmates would wait for her signal to do anything.

Maplestar allowed the tip of her tail to twitch while the rest of her body stayed in control and unmoved. "Oh Foxstar, how far you have fallen from the way things should be. Your words mean nothing to me, you only fill the air with them to buy you more time. You know where I stand and you know that I do not fear you. You are not a shadow that stalks a nursery, making the kits fear you with the idea of the unknown. You are just a cat, as am I, and you will die before you threaten my clan and way of life again." Maplestar's eyes flicked over to gaze at Redfur and Brokenstep. She could tell the queen wasn't capable of a battle, and she would not allow her clanmates to attempt one with her. Brokenstep, once the strong Onefang, now appeared to be in a pile of fur on the ground as he broke under the pressure of his so called "cause."

Maplestar turned to Silversnow and gave the ex-Marshclan cat a faint hiss, the first sign of any emotion she had given since approaching Foxstar. "We did not come here just to see you run after them alone. We came here to escort these rogues off my territory, not bring a war to our doorstep." Turning to Foxstar she glared at him. "If you do not willingly leave with us, you give me no choice but to chase you out myself." Maplestar meant every word.

"Then let's test Galestar's decission in making you leader." Foxstar paced back and forth sizing up the calico. His own fur was still slightly dull, probably from loosing two lives so close to each other. "Brokenstep pull yourself up, you have better things to do than sit and self loathe." he hissed glancing at his apperentice. The younger tom's eyes were fearful as he glanced over in Silversnow's direction. He didn't really know what to say to the she cat, nor did he care.

"Yes Foxstar.." Brokenstep was mumbling, he did live up to his name now, every step the tom took was more of a hobble as he favored the paw that silversnow had crushed. His winter coat hadn't come in, probably due to malnutrition since a cat with a crippled front paw couldn't hunt. Out of the three cats Foxstar, who himself was large enough to look Turtlestar in the eyes seemed to be the only one capable of a real fight.

Redfur lowered the fur on her back. She had started back toward the southern most boarder of Stormclan, the queen's pace was slow . She was heavy with kits after all. But her biggest concern did not seem to be for her brother's well being, the two must of had a falling out at some point after his exile. Her poppy red fur held a stark contrast to the dying reeds and bushes behind the queen but her claws were still out as she retreated back not wanting to risk the lives of her unborn kits in a fight.

Foxstar had no such worry and stood tall with his claws out . Almost taunting maplestar into making the first move. "Are you going to wait for the snow to melt and green-leaf to come or are you going to prove yourself ?"

Brokenstep's mind was racing, first Turtleshell, or was it star now? had told him he was just like Redhorse, the comment it's self had prompted him into attacking her which had unfortunately ended Tall-leg's life. Now Brightleap had shunned him too. He imagined that if Ashwing or Longwhisker were here they would of been equally disapointed. " I don't belong here..." The tom's ears and tail drooped as he sized up the Storm clan warriors. He didn't want to fight, but knowing Foxstar knew that it was coming.
