Redfur shivered, her claws sinking into the ground when she looked up at the storm clan warrior, "please don't hurt me..." Her ears where pinned back, the she cat's tail wrapped protectivly around her belly where the queen's unborn kits were. This close... it was easy to see that she was malnurished, the queen's once pretty red coat was dull and still too thin for leaf bare. Foxstar hadn't been taking very good care of his sister.

Brokenstep yowled as the other tom's jaws snapped around his injured leg. He hit the ground hissing before using his good paw to swipe across the tom's face . His eye went back to Brightleap, who he watched attack her former leader Foxstar, she was trying to help Maplestar. "Brightleap..." Brokenstep's voice was quivering. Between this tom and Silversnow both seemingly after him the only options Brokenstep saw was to run, it looked like Redfur had another one of Maplestar's warriors on her tail. To the west stood wildfire and the rest of the storm clan cats that Maplestar had brought with her. He glanced north to see Foxstar struggling with both Maplestar and brightleap on him. The only option he saw to run was east. On to the thunderpath.

The tom scrabbled to his feet and ran, his heart racing in his ears as he felt his paws touch the unnatural ground of the thunderpath. He heard a screech and barely had time to turn before seeing a thunderpath monster.

Foxstar heard Brokenstep's yowl, he threw Brightleap off of him and turned to the sound in time to see Brokenstep running from two cats and out onto a thunderpath. The former Marshclan leader felt a wave of dread when he heard the screech of an apporaching monster.

It hit Brokenstep head on. The wounded cat vanished underneath the monster while it passed over his body . When he could see Brokenstep again the tom was laying motionless in the center of the thunderpath, his gray coat was bloody. Some of the tom's fur had been pulled from his flank leaving a ugly red streak on his pelt. Foxstar watched the tom. His attention no longer on the two she-cats who had attacked him. The tom's green eyes closed, his claws sheathed.

Copperfur had been pushed off Brokenstep. He was bleeding from the cheek. The cut was semi-deep and he hissed in pain before watching the other cat dash off..... Wait... That was the Thunderpath!! What did that idiot think he was doing!? "Hey! Don't run that wa---"

Oh Starclan.... You could have let this cat run across an empty Thunderpath....

"Foxdung..." He hissed towards himself. He felt responsible for this cat's accident. Ugh. The corpse was disgusting. Foxstar himself seemed to have been silenced. "Maplestar...." He whispered. This wasn't the plan... That cat hadn't done what he thought, what he knew he would do... But he really didn't know. He shivered..... His logic has failed him?! "But.... He wasn't supposed to run that way.....?" He whispered mostly to himself. Maplestar must hate him now.....

Something in Starlingpool's gaze softened then, as she gazed down at the huddled mass of fur that had once been a proud and powerful warrior. She sighed, running through Maplestar's orders in her mind again, and cast her gaze about the clearing where they stood to make sure that they were alone. In the distance she could hear faint yowls, the rumbling of the Thunderpath, and wondered briefly if her Clanmates were alright.

Don't be ridiculous. Maplestar brought at least six cats with her, and all they have to face is a deranged former leader and a pathetic wuss with a broken leg.

Reeling back her thoughts from their stray paths, she focused again on Redfur. What should she do with the queen? She couldn't fight her, obviously, and she had no wish to. However, she also couldn't allow the cat to come back onto Clan territory ever again. Yes... She'd made her decision.

Pausing a moment to spin around and trot off a few fox-lengths into the trees, she sniffed along the ground, froze for a moment, and darted forward when she detected movement. Sure enough, there was a small mouse who had wandered from where she knew a large den of them lay, and he was down and dead from a blow to the neck in seconds. She trotted back towards Redfur and laid the fresh-kill at her feet.

"Take this," she instructed sternly. "Get out, as fast as you can, and head for the Barn outside of MarshClan territory. I've heard there are cats living there - and you'll be much safer than you ever were here." She paused a moment to look the queen over, then her gaze sharpened. "But you must never return - I will not be so kind the next time, and I must obey my leader no matter what her orders."

As the cold, biting wind brushed by and under her pelt, a jolt of liveliness zipped through the warrior as she flew briefly through the winter air, and her lips revealed the yellow tinted fangs underneath, her claws sliding smoothly out of their sheathes all in the few seconds that she was above the earth. Adrenaline made the cat's eyes dilate and focus almost all of her attention on the ex-leader that she aimed for, everything else becoming not much more than a meaningless blur around her.
As her paws hit fur and muscle, she knew she had connected with her target and quickly she dug her claws into the tom's flesh and held on, her neck moving forward as too bite him on the neck or shoulder. Just as her teeth brushed against the foul tasting black pelt of her victim, she felt him push up and her claws were coaxed out of his flesh, and she was sent off of the cat, her body harshly striking the ground below, hardened by the cold of the season. Her vision blurred for a moment, and an odd sound shook the earth as to sent vibrations through it and make the dirt and pebbles shake slightly until it stopped, the roaring getting further and further into the distance until it vanished altogether, and her senses returned to the winded she-cat. She recovered onto her paws as quickly as she could, her flank moving as she breathed deeply from the fight and she glanced around for Foxstar. When her green eyes landed on him, she crouched down to jump again, then paused in confusion to see that the fight had left the him. The others around her, too, seemed to be in shock over something, and she stood up in a confused manner until a horrid smell hit her square on the nose, and she almost reeled because of it. She looked around for the source, then saw the cat that lay on the thunderpath, and her breath got caught in her throat.
One...Onefang...?
With a first hesitant step, she slowly padded out from her spot to the edge of the thunderpath, not quite sure how to react to the bloody scene in front of her. Her brother looked like crowfood, monster tracks still imprinted on his fur, and the reek of gore swirled eerily around him to the point that it almost made her faint from the smell. Brightleap sat down heavily, and her limbs shook with the mental exhaustion that fell down on her, draining all the energy from her body so that she couldn't evens it up straight. She blinked a few times, her eyes tearing up though never spilling over with tears, and her ears drooped to the sides of her head.
Brightleap's body was frozen in this pose, and she stayed silent as she mourned the loss of her nest-mate, Onefang.

The moment Maplestar jumped into the fight with Foxstar, Silversnow whipped around, hissing at Brokenstep. Another Stormclan warrior seemed to have the same idea as her, and pounced on Brokenstep.

The former warrior looked so lost and confused and broken that it gave Silversnow a pause, before she reminded herself that he was the one who killed Tall-leg.

And then he ran.

Silversnow was confused. Onefang wouldn't have ran, he would've fought even though outnumbered. It seemed that his new name also appealed to his heart.

Seeing where he had ran to, her eyes widen. Fox dung! He's running onto the Thunderpath! "Are you mad?" She screeched. "Don't be a mouse brained fool, you're running straight into-"

A sickening crunch made her stop. She stared in horror, as the Thunderpath monster crushed Brokenstep underfoot, before roaring away.

Seeing Brokenstep's mangled body was more horrifying than Silversnow imagined. Even though she had wanted to kill him so badly....now she had regrets about it. Perhaps Brokenstep really had changed, after both his siblings rejected him. Besides, clan cats didn't kill one another. That was something she had been taught since young, and the one rule she had forgotten in Tall-leg's death.

She took a deep breath, composing herself. Perhaps Brokenstep shouldn't have died. He just had a bad mentor. Made some bad choices. And in the end, lost everything. But I know someone that should be dead.

She turned to Foxstar, who seemed to be grieving for his apprentice's death. She crouched, prepared to fight.

As if seeing Brightleap mourning over Brokenstep was the proof he headed that his former apperentice was really dead . The tom's ears were pinned flat, Foxstar's eyes were wild, rage had competely consumed the former marsh clan leader. Every muscle in foxstar's body was on edge, his claws were out as the tom's tail swayed from side to side.

"I'll show your little kitty pet again Silversnow. That weakling of a brother of your's too. " Foxstar hissed , "then when I'm done with you, I'll go back for the other tratiors in marsh clan. Atleast they aren't murderers. "

Redfur's eyes were full of gratitude as she picked the mouse up. A slight purr in the red queen's throat, "Thank you."

Onefang had been a warrior who charged into foxes head on, and alone. It was true that he never would backed down from a fight, much less of admitted that he was out numbered. The cowering gray tom who had been with Foxstar really did live up to his new name.

Broken. Much like everything else in the past few moons from Foxstar's banishment, Sparrowflight and Tall-leg's death, nightmares from the old terratory were repeating themselves in the new.

Starlingpool nodded quickly, but only watched the red queen long enough to make sure she was heading for the border. Then she spun on a dime and began racing back towards the battle. Doubtless it will have actually begun by now, she thought, and the idea that some of her Clanmates could be locked in battle right now... the traitorous scum shedding their blood... It made her own blood boil with anger.

I'll show him, she seethed. He won't touch another hair on a StormClan pelt from now on.

She came racing back into the clearing in time to see Foxstar's whole body tense as if ready to leap, and only raked her gaze across the horrific sight of Brokenstep's body for a moment before she refocused on the former Clan leader.

Now! she screamed at herself, tensing all her muscles as she ran. Don't let him get any closer to your Clanmates!

With a ferocious yowl, she dived into the fray, an amber blur appearing seemingly out of nowhere as she sped from the underbrush and towards the large black tom. With a powerful push of her hind legs, she propelled herself forwards, claws outstretched and teeth bared. Her moons of training boiled down to this moment: This was the kind of thing she had prepared for. True to her skills, she hit her target dead on, landing squarely on the former leader's back and immediately sinking her teeth into his scruff.

Maplestar watched as things around her flew at an amazing speed. She felt Foxstar's claws rake across her shoulder but she ignored the pain with each step as blood seeped out of her and into the ground. Gritting her teeth Maplestar made to swipe at the tom again but Brightleap was suddenly there, wrangling the tom to the ground with her weight from above. Maplestar was a bit surprised to see the she-cat come to her aid but she was thankful nonetheless. Maplestar stepped forward, attempting to drive Foxstar away from her territory bit by bit.

Chaos swirled around her and she heard the yowling of many cats. Their cries filled her ears and rang around in her head like alarms. Taking up arms against Foxstar once more when he threw Brightleap off of him Maplestar tucked down low and swiped at his legs, making impact and causing damage to both his front legs. It might not have looked like much, but Maplestar was being very calculative. If the tom had pain in his legs they would move slower, making his attacks more predictable and easy to dodge.

Maplestar was planning on going in for another strike when all of the forest seemed to stand still around them, the only thing moving, a monster. It roared past with no regards to what was happening around it, only seeking to end whatever journey it was on. It drove forward, taking down Brokenstep in it's wake and leaving the tom crushed and broken on the thunderpath. Everything around them stood still in time. There was nothing but the ooze of blood on the unnatural ground of the thunderpath and the sudden silence that surrounded them. Each cat stared, mesmerized by the accident they had just witnessed before them. Brokenstep was gone and left in his place the cold outer shell of what used to be a cat. Maplestar wanted to turn away and confront Foxstar once more but her heart had not expected such turmoil. She had no time to prepare herself for the sorrow of seeing a cat squished under the feet of a monster. No one was supposed to have died, especially like this. No cat deserved such pain.

Before Maplestar could take advantage of the situation Foxstar gained his senses and reached for Silversnow, hoping to land a blow. A sudden rush in the bushes beside Maplestar alerted her to Starlingpool's reappearance. Maplestar was surprised by the warrior. To have drove out Redfur and come back in time was must impressive but the she-cat had no time for such thoughts now. She had to move, had to react to the pain and chaos that surrounded her. Maplestar watched as Foxstar quickly threw off the frame of Starlingpool and she didn't wait. She struck, her fury burning inside of her with such intensity it almost scared her. The she-cat raced up to the ex-leader and raked her claws along his side, leaving deep gashes that would undoubtedly leave scars. This had left Maplestar in a rather vulnerable position and she knew this before she took the first step. She had to wear Foxstar down even more than he was, had to get him to turn tail and run or at least be to weak to fight any longer. So she left her defense open, if only for the briefest of seconds while she let her claws did deep into the tom's side and pull out fur and skin in their wake.

After Maplestar landed her blow she backed up quickly and tried to duck to protect her exposed throat, hoping the tom was too tired to land a blow while he could.

As heightened as the Tom's senses currently were his attention only half shifted from Silversnow to Maplestar, "Can't even wait for your turn? Are you THAT bent on dying?" The tom was leering in the direction of the Stormclan leader, scanning her for any weaknesses, and then he pounced.

Redfur took the mouse she'd been given, she could hear yowling and her brother's darker voice off in the distance. The queen glanced back toward the marsh clan boarder. It really was her best option was to get to the barn, but the passage would put her out in the open moors . Without any trees or hiding places should another predator notice her. She would find a safe place off of storm clan's terratiory and wait there until it was safe to make the journay to the barn.

That was what the queen decided on. So she walked until the storm clan scent markers faded from her nostrils, she had to be past the boarder now. Redfur's next move was to sniff a bramble bush, the thorns sharp and brittle. She ate the mouse in peace before digging into the earth underneath the bush giving her some room the squeeze herself underneath. It was warmer than outside, all it needed was some moss to soften the space so her kits wouldn't hurt themselves on the thorns. It wasn't the marsh clan nusery, but it would do.

Starlingpool hissed sharply, pain flaring up in her side as she hit the ground and rolled from Foxstar's toss. She couldn't allow herself to show weakness, or any hesitation: So she clambered to her paws, shook off the pain, and batted angrily at the blood streaming down from a cut in her forehead. Then she was leaping back into the fray. She could see where Foxstar was aiming, directly at Maplestar's throat.

I cannot let that happen! she yowled at herself, aiming for the former MarshClan leader's back once more. All she had to do was yank him to the side...

But alas, at the last second, she missed one crucial thing through the cloud of pain that she wouldn't let herself admit was impairing her vision somewhat. The clawmarks Foxstar had left down her side extended to her right foreleg: So when she went to stretch it out, claws reaching for his black pelt, a stab of pure fire ran up her entire body and made her muscles tense and spasm. She stumbled mid-air, rolled, and slammed into the black tom's hind legs. Fox dung!
