Hello! I’m interested in some dragon data, but it’d take one person far too long to grab all the numbers I want. I’ve also got a stockpile of dragons with neat IDs. So here’s the plan: you find some of the data I’m looking for, and you’ll maybe get to take home a neat dragon?

So what exactly am I looking for?
A simple question, repeated about three thousand times: What is the ID of the last dragon provably hatched on a given day? Since we can only see the birthdays of non-exalted dragons, the dragon with the ID in question may not actually be the last one hatched, but it should be fairly close. You earn tickets by finding that ID for me.

What will I do with this information?
The aggregate collection of data will be kept private until the end of the raffle, shared only with people who have found thirty data points or more (kind of an early access reward for putting in the work). Then, I’ll make the google spreadsheet public and link it in the guides forum. This data can do two main things: an easy source to find the ID range of dragons hatched on a specific date, and tell us how many dragons were hatched per day.

When does this raffle end?
Whichever is earlier:
A) May 31st, 2024 will be the last day to claim data points, and June 7th the last day to enter them.
B) Or when all the IDs have been found and there are no more opportunities to earn tickets.

Current Prize Count: 36

Heads up that you’re going to want a google account for me to share a spreadsheet with you to enter the IDs in, but message me if you don’t but you’re interested, and we can work something out. Fill out the form at the bottom of this post. Essentially, you say that you want to find a certain number of data points , and I’ll assign you a date range of that size. After that, private message me your gmail address and I’ll share a spreadsheet with you for you to fill out. Comment on this thread once you’ve finished and I’ll update your ticket count (which you can track on this sheet here). Tickets awarded are slightly different depending on the date range, scaled to the expected difficulty. I think the numbers might have been more erratic in the earliest year, and when Roundsey dragons came in 2018, last IDs on certain dates became really easy to find (see next post). So there are three date ranges, with different amounts of tickets per data point. But how does one actually find the ID of the last dragon born on a specific date? It's not a complicated process, but it does take time. An effective way to find most data points (a lot of words, sorry): When I refer to changing the dragon ID, I mean changing the numbers in the url in the page address bar (e.g. the bolded part in this url https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/73388359). Warning: Highlighting and replacing it is probably easier on a laptop or computer, a device with a keyboard and precision clicking/dragging abilities (not solely touchscreen). I’d recommend trying out the fluidity of editing page addresses on your device or only claiming a few data points at first if you have doubts about how easily this can be done on your device. If you know what a binary search is, this process is kind of similar. Here’s how it goes:

Take the last ID of the previous day.
For a “normal” day, add 20k* to it and round to a nearby thousand.
Increment the ID by 1 until you find an unexalted dragon. For all the following steps, I’ll assume you do that.
If the dragon’s birthday is the day you want, add another thousand. If the birthday is the day after the one you want, subtract a thousand (again, for simplicity, round it so it ends with zeroes).
Repeat step 4 until you find the thousand number range the ID must be in.
Add 500 to the lower bound so you get the dragon halfway through this range. If the birthday is the day of, change that 500 to 700 (or 800, your choice). If the birthday is the day after, change the 500 to a 200 (or 300, no difference).
Strategically change your hundred’s place (each time slicing off around half of the remaining IDs) until you find the 100 number range the ID must be in.
In a similar way, slice this 100 number range in half by adding 50 to the lower bound, checking the birthday of the closest unexalted dragon, and deciding whether to go up or down.
Now, strategically change your ten’s place until you find the 10 number range the ID must be in.
Do something similar to find the one’s place, although there’s not much time lost here if you just count up or count down from the bottom or top respectively of the range instead of trying to halve the remaining amount of IDs. Prevalence of exalted dragons might make that the easier strategy.
If you find two dragons next to each other with different birthdays, great! Take the ID of the earlier one (aka the last dragon hatched on the day you’re looking at) and put it in the corresponding spreadsheet cell.
If you find a dragon with a birthday of the day you want, a string of exalted dragons, and then a dragon with a birthday of the next day, report the ID of the last unexalted dragon born on the day you want (“provably” born on the correct day) to the appropriate spreadsheet cell.
*20k is my rule of thumb, but I know at times of some years 18k or 22k will get you closer, while NotN could hit it up to 30k and popular holidays like Christmas spike to 50k. Use your best judgement. It’s a wordy process to describe, but it’s quick to get. There’ll be no need to refer back to the procedure once you’ve gotten your first few IDs down. Useful for specific days: Compilation of Roundsey Dragons by @/3idolon (many images) Roundsey dragons are the first dragons to be hatched every Wednesday (assuming Roundsey existed at that point in time and there were dragon prizes that week). An effective way to find most data points (a lot of words, sorry):

Useful for specific days:

Roundsey dragons are the first dragons to be hatched every Wednesday (assuming Roundsey existed at that point in time and there were dragon prizes that week). To find the last hatch on a Tuesday night, find the ID of the earliest Roundsey dragon born the following day and subtract 1.
