Comment (Optional): Palm Meadows are really sharp and, if you're not watching where you're walking, can slice your legs to bits. Deer still like hiding out in them though.

Species: Hydnellum Peckii
Entry Type: Visual
Comment (Optional): Hydnellum Peckii... The fruit bodies typically have a funnel-shaped cap with a white edge, although the shape can be highly variable. Young, moist fruit bodies can "bleed" bright red guttation droplets that contains a pigment known to have anticoagulant properties similar to heparin. The unusual appearance of the young fruit bodies has earned the species several descriptive common names, including strawberries and cream, the bleeding Hydnellum, the bleeding tooth fungus, the red-juice tooth, and the Devil's tooth. Although Hydnellum peckii fruit bodies are readily identifiable when young, they become brown and nondescript when they age

Entry Type: Visual
Comment (Optional): The purple pitcher plant is found through Canada and the northeastern United States, and is the most widespread example of its species. It gathers nutrients by luring in insects and drowning them in the rainwater it collects in its pitcher. This particular species of pitcher plant is the floral emblem of Labrador and Newfoundland, Canada.

Comment (Optional): Birch trees aren't that weird but I love them, and given Birch lives in my Clan it would feel weird to not do this.
Entry:
Birch circled around the white tree, gathering up the fallen branches to make a fire at the camp she and her brother had set up. The wood would catch light easily, keeping them warm and allowing them to roast some of their food before night fell and the stars Birch so adored came out.
She turned the wood over in her claws, did her parents think of her every time the Clan back home burned birch wood, wonder where she and Felar were? She dragged her claw over the stick to carefully peel the bark off and splay her hand over the bark, comparing the rippled and marbled wood to the markings over her scales. If nothing else, her namesake always made her think of home, and feel less lonely in the woods.

My progenitors' children are all named after real organisms, and when Drosera hatched, carnivorous plants were the first thing that came to mind.
