The fidgety Bogsneak was scratching one claw with another. It wasn’t long ago that Dr. Hazel herself was in a similar position. Becoming the director of the society had done wonders for her public speaking ability. She couldn’t help the rush of adrenaline that flooded her veins when she finally spoke, though. “Thank you, everyone, for attending the second conference of the Sornieth Naturalists Society!” She paused, anticipating a cheer and joining in it herself. “We have a special guest who’s looking to be inspired by our discoveries this week for his own project. Please welcome Dr. Brusklow, early hatchlinghood researcher!” Dr. Hazel led the group in applause as she stepped aside and let the pale green Bogsneak take the podium and display his project. He cleared his throat and started speaking, and to his credit his nerves seemed to fade away as he explained the project that had been the focus of his passion for the better part of the past year. “Games are an important part of learning for hatchlings, and with my newest project, I hope to educate youngsters, especially those outside Nature Flight, about the different species here in the Labyrinth,” he said, waving a claw at the game board hovering in the air beside him. “I’ll need your help in coming up with content for the game. What species call this vast forest home? With your help, I can teach hatchlings about concepts like ecosystems and biodiversity.” Murmurs of appreciation arose from the crowd, and Dr. Hazel could see a few faces nodding, eyes wide in excitement. This collaboration was more than she could have hoped for, considering this was just the second meeting of the society. She stepped back to the podium when Dr. Brusklow was done speaking. “I know we’re all excited to play some games in addition to the conference, so let’s get to sharing our research!” she said with a hearty pat on the Bogsneak’s shoulder. Pixel heard the birds far before she saw them. The raucous roar of a hundred parrots screeching at once could be heard throughout the entire forest. As she emerged from the foliage and into a clearing around a waterfall, she saw the parrots flapping everywhere, thronging the branches above with color.

Normally self-conscious in the forest due to her bright colors, which didn't let her blend in, Pixel realized she felt right at home among these birds, which were the same colors as her. Orange and green, with spots of other colors added in, Pixel and the birds themselves were among the most colorful the forest had to offer.
