This event was a matter of endurance, as well as skill. The course cut through a variety of terrain in the Southern Icefields before the return to the festival grounds. But, nearing the end, her graceful moves propelled her into first place and she held onto the lead to earn the gold medal. Clearly her background as leader of the Gemstone Dance Troupe helped her with the endurance needed to win this race. She earned the silver medal as the second competitor to cross the finish line. She also endeared herself to the audience with her enthusiasm and energy. This year, 54 clans participated in the games and clans competing in every event were eligible for the all-around medals. Wind flight had the most clans registered for the games, followed by Arcane and Ice clans. Our bronze medal clan was helped by a gold medal in speed skating to push them into third place overall. Vesper, Cloud, Harley, Citrine, and Sylphie represented Clan Breezeborne (@Toothless) in the events and on the medal stand. Copper, Cyriaca, Thiv, Lysana, and an energetic Spiral who didn't leave her name all came from the Lair of the Far Reaches (@Azure) in the Southern Icefields to claim the second spot on the podium. Fidget, Idnerth, Polqua, Ferdinand, Nqoba, and Doodlebug claimed the gold medal for Clan @sockmonkeygerald with clan mates from the Windswept Plateua cheering from the stands.
