The call for Tributes for these Games was much less reputable than the Official[sup]TM[/sup] decree that called for entrants to the true Hunger Games: it was whispered and hissed about, in back alleys and among the shadier dealings. An arena adjacent to Capitol Island, it was said; one that was specifically tailored for mirrors to truly test their strengths against other mirrors. The registrar might be fooled, it was suggested, with some simple glamours or a costume; but really, did anyone who [i]wasn't[/i] a mirror want to be trapped in an Arena with so many members of the more savage species? So they came, in singles and twos - some of their own accord, some kidnapped by burly Gamekeepers - to Mirror Mesa: a massive, wide plinth of rock situated within the Wyrmwound itself, the center of it a deep, sunken pit, the rim of which is a narrow squiggle of rock, save for where the registrar has set up camp. This area is almost a mesa in and of itself; it's wide and spacious, with a large firepit in the center and various makeshift campsites spread out around it. Daily, a massive boar carcass has been dumped into the camp, and the remnants of the mirrors sating their hunger is evident in the gristly mess around the firepit, the remnants of the nightly feast being left to rot in the baking heat of the Wyrmwound's unique atmosphere. Bones and hide have been stolen and stretched to create many a tent. In one corner of the campgrounds, a slapdash training arena has been set up, with sackdoll dummies and wooden mannequins to test tooth and claw against, with a shoddy stockpile of rusty weapons for practicing. Though the campgrounds butt up against the pit that is the Arena, roiling clouds swim just a few feet below the lip of the cliffside, obscuring the Arena and whatever horrors might be contained within. Though the camp has been swelling in population, the last two tributes were dropped off this morning, which means it's almost [font=courier]time.[/font] The Mirror Games are about to begin.
