Ah yeah, thank you though! Greetings from vacation! I found myself with a little downtime during my trip, and had nothing better to do than write! I abhor using my phone to web browse, and I hope there will be no auto corrections in this. I have two projects completed to blather about, starting with this one, the Smoke/Storm/Eggplant. I had inherited this project from another breeder, and if I recall correctly, it came with a few decent dragons, and well on track. Well, it still took me a hot minute to complete, and became a sprawling mess along the way, so I am relieved to tuck it to bed. I appear to be in a space crunch at the moment... Now, these two stinkers. This project frustrated me. I also inherited it from another breeder, and in the first round of babies, I got incredibly lucky with them and was able to produce two phenomenal final pairs that were unrelated to each other. I had the project in the bag, and then RNG threw the bag into the abyss. The 1 in 3 pair had 18 kids total, while the 1 in 6 pair had 19 kids before they gave me a male and female. Both pairs produced a number of females before one decided to give me a male. Argh! But that’s all from me for now! I have the itch for another project, but somehow I have no space currently. I will have to solve that first...

Now, these two stinkers. This project frustrated me. But that’s all from me for now! I have the itch for another project, but somehow I have no space currently. I will have to solve that first...

Whoops a month sure flew. It's that awkward time period currently, where the Dragonwish Foundation is mid-check-in, so I am very much anxious to sink my teeth into a new project or two, but am waiting for the results of the check-in to see what wishes need reassigning. But, I do have some news to impart in the meantime. He was my personal project, and finally hatched with everything perfect! I suppose I could have tried for the Rare eyes, but eyes I've just mostly given up on. I'd rather get the vial, when it goes on Flash sale. If it goes on Flash sale... Super pleased with him, and once I get those Rare eyes, he will be my new avatar dragon! He is the "brother" of Diremon & Gorbadd, my current & previous avatar dragons. They had a 1 in 780 odds of nailing the colours alone, but seeing as near-misses on the primary & tertiary were going to be acceptable, and he didn't actually nail the primary, I don't think he's full odds on that, so I don't consider him the highest I've ever nailed, since there was quite a bit of acceptable variation. Still, very impressive! And now, I've got a daunting 5 Coatl projects as my oldest projects. They're all... going. That's about what I can say. I did pick up another personal project, and this time, since the last one was an "easier" project, I've gone with the most "challenging" one this time, at least, based on appearance. Whew, the check-in finally finishes today! And with it, two of my inactive projects, the Jade/Antique/Jade and the Amethyst/White/Yellow, have been tossed, as the corresponding wishes have been inactive long enough to be removed from the wishlist entirely. The Obs/Sunshine/Moon has also been moved to the inactive list, which isn't entirely unexpected for me, and I do think they'll be back, so I will continue that one, like I did last time this happened. I did get the dragons for the Murk/Beige/Spruce project, and discovered two males with the exact colours, so asked the wisher if they wanted them. They did, so that wish had been marked complete without me doing anything, so I don't count to my breeding projects complete. But, I have still managed to complete a project since! This one is a relief to have done, because it was not playing very nice for a long time. I believe I had commented when I first picked this project up that it was nice to have an "easier" Coatl project for once, and... it should have been much easier than it was. My pairs really wanted to show me just how much rotten luck I have by consistently giving me the worst possible combinations. I had to fight tooth and nail and replace quite a few dragons with better AH finds to get this one done. Now, I said I would pick up projects once the check-in is done, and it is done, and I have picked up a few more wishes! I just... don't start them until I hear back from the wishers and I haven't heard back yet. I shall just have to sit tight and wait.

But I have been thinking, maybe I should just... make one tab for all the DWF wishes, and separate them by pages? The one saving grace is that I will be able to acquire one half of the pair through a purchase. But that still leaves me with having to breed an all-gem gene Coatl that needs to be unrelated to that purchase, who will be related to virtually every other dragon remotely in range. The DWF Triples library is saving my bacon a little bit here, I managed to make 5 pairs (terrible colours, mind you) from a bunch of Petals/Butterfly/Glimmer brown-range Coatls. If not for them, I would still be quite a few pairs away from what I need to make this happen. Also, fun fact! Two more dragons from previous projects are helping in this one, specifically, Howard and Maria from that Red/Red/Metals Coatl project, who I kept as a pair for my hypothetical hatchery. Whew! After a pretty long dry spell, I've had a flurry of projects complete! First up is Gothmog, who was very nearly perfect except for getting Bee instead of Alloy. However, the wisher decided Bee works just as well, and so she is done! The DWF had to cut back on what wishes are eligible for gem genes, and we're grandfathering in wishes previously eligible, but not allowing any more to be eligible until they're in the 10 oldest wishes. This project just barely missed the cut-off, and I was getting a little worried because my dragons had a mean tendency to give really good dragons... except for the genes. All's well that ends well, though! Next up, the Veilspun! I wasn't expecting this one to complete so suddenly, and I don't know why I wasn't expecting it, because her parents were a 1 in 12 pair. I guess I've just been so bogged down with all my bad luck lately that I haven't bothered to get excited for anything more than a 1 in 4, and even 1 in 4 has me doubting, thanks to a certain curse. Just need to hear from the wisher, then I'll be getting a Fade gene for her and sending her on her way, because she is otherwise perfect! I was expecting this one more than the Veilspun, because she came from a 1 in 8 pair! I am also pleased I was able to get 2 genes for her inherited. Could have had all 3, but Tapir really didn't want to give Fade any room to breathe. ----- Updates for other wishes: The Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon's wisher returned, as I was expecting, and they returned before the pairs were even off cooldown since going into the inactive bin, lol. So, they're back to the not-inactive bin! This project is finally down to grandparents, and though genes are a little dicey, I am so pleased to say it's getting really close now! The Blood/Pistachio/Eldritch, however, seemed to envy the Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon's position as most challenging wish, and has spited me at every turn. It's extremely rare that I have to do this, in fact, I can think of only one other project where I had to, but I had to make a second tree. The grandparents I had for this project, (which were, by the way, perfectly good enough to be grandparents), were extremely fond of giving me the worst possible combinations, and I couldn't make a final pair better than 1 in 48, which is not nearly good enough for any breeds, let alone Coatls. I have nailed 1 in 48 before, but that was a fluke, and I don't like relying on flukes. So, I bit the bullet, and set up a second tree. The 1 in 48 pair is now a grandparent pair, and I am working on breeding them a second grandparent pair to pair their kids to. This one has a while yet, sadly. Everyone else is going slow and steady, nothing to remark yet. The Red/Obs/Lemon project has been really nice so far with some excellent kids! The Blush/Blush/Ivory is starting to have babies trickle in, and so far, I've already paired up some kids and started eliminating parents! Whew! After a pretty long dry spell, I've had a flurry of projects complete!
81452731_350.png
First up is Gothmog, who was very nearly perfect except for getting Bee instead of Alloy. However, the wisher decided Bee works just as well, and so she is done! The DWF had to cut back on what wishes are eligible for gem genes, and we're grandfathering in wishes previously eligible, but not allowing any more to be eligible until they're in the 10 oldest wishes. This project just barely missed the cut-off, and I was getting a little worried because my dragons had a mean tendency to give really good dragons... except for the genes. All's well that ends well, though!
81440446_350.png
Next up, the Veilspun! I wasn't expecting this one to complete so suddenly, and I don't know why I wasn't expecting it, because her parents were a 1 in 12 pair. I guess I've just been so bogged down with all my bad luck lately that I haven't bothered to get excited for anything more than a 1 in 4, and even 1 in 4 has me doubting, thanks to a certain curse. Well, maybe this is a sign my luck is finally turning around!
81609390_350.png
The last one is this Imp!

Oh boy, oh boy. Another flurry of projects complete! Some of these were quite lucky hatches, too. First one aboard the luck train is the Periwinkle/White/Sanddollar. Though his parents were a grandparent pair, they actually were pretty close themselves, with a 1 in 64 odds of hatching him. That's definitely not final pair material, but well within fluke baby range. I actually received the babies back from the nester while I was away on a trip, and didn't initially realize they weren't a final pair. Next is, unbelievably, the project that refuses to be overshadowed by any others. Taking the crown for most difficult project I have ever done, it was an old enough wish to be eligible for 2 gem scrolls via the DWF bank by the time this boy hatched. Did I need them? Well... let me tell you how the last two nests went. Their parents were a kid from a grandparent pair, and an unrelated stud (thanks, Benjibean!). Between the two parents, they were only guaranteed Starmap. It's a 1 in 8 odds for a kid to also inherit all 3 of Coatl, Constellation, and Opal. 8[sup]4[/sup] is... 4096. This nest of 4 eggs had a 1 in 4096 chance of all 4 babies getting all the right genes, and these babies did it. I was flabbergasted. Arcturus, the first boy, was a one-off to boot, so I had initially offered him to the wisher. The wisher decided to hold out for Sunshine, and I was perfectly fine for that, because Arcturus still had one pair in the project whose kids I could pair him with, and he was about as close a father I could get without getting the goal baby. That other grandparent pair apparently took lessons from these guys, and despite not being guaranteed 2 genes, for a 1 in 4 odds for perfect genes on each of the kids, something they had only done once in their previous 13 babies, they too also gave perfect genes on all 3 kids in the final nest. Being amongst the oldest wishes on the DWF's wishlist, it's a relief to have him done, and he was a lucky baby, too, coming from a grandparent pair. Because he came from a grandparent pair, I was also able to provide the wisher with an additional unrelated dragon, because they have plans to breed him a mate as well! Best of luck! I love it when goal kids from my projects become breeding pairs, because now this range will be potentially more accessible in the future, as well. The more of that going around, the easier time breeders like I have breeding oddballs. So, what have I been up to? Well, bad decisions, AKA, giving myself more projects. I'm up to 17 now. Hello, it's me again, making bad decisions again.
82756683_350.png
First up, I've completed this boy's project!

It looks like these 4 are the ones I haven't talked about yet.

First up is another wish whose wisher took a while to respond to me, so I have finally started it. It's a tiny project, though. The range seems to be in good supply!

The bad news is... I ran out of tabs in my den. Yep. No matter which way I squished them, none of the big projects were small enough to fit into the small projects category, and under my previous sorting system, each needed their own tab. And I had no more tabs left for this one. So, it's the dawn of a new era in my lair. No longer it is a giant wall of 20 tabs that has been described as an eyesore, and instead, I have shoved all my DWF projects into one giant tab. The den tab lags pretty horribly for me, so we're gonna find out how long I can tolerate this until I find a new sorting system. As for the project itself, well, I'm gonna get the girl way sooner than the boy, ha ha. At least, with what I currently have. The non-gem tertiary is a huge boon to her half of the project, while the boy having Crystal, Facet and Filigree is going to be a bit more tricky to coordinat. Crystal/Facet is not uncommon in the orange range, thankfully, but Filigree is, especially with Crystal/Facet. I've got a potential stud to help speed it along, but I need to get her a mate. Oh, and Fire tertiary was another big hang-up for both sides of this pair. It's just barely out of range for the more common oranges, so it was a bit of a challenge to get dragons on the brown side of Fire while remaining close to the primary and secondary.

Oops January flew by quite quickly for me. In the past month, I've slowly dealt with the lair space & den space squeeze I was struggling with, a large part thanks to these three projects finishing, and a bunch more making some leaps in progress.
