Aah, updates! I got a few of them to share. Let's start with the changes to the second post here, the one that lists all my projects. I've now divided it into two sections: The projects I am actively and earnestly working towards, and the projects that have taken a back seat. With the DWF having so many wishes now, I really need to stop dedicating time and space to inactive wishes, and instead focus on active ones. In the past I've shrugged and said "I'll just put it on the backburner," but that never really meant anything. I still dedicated lair space, I still hunted for nests, and so on, and continued the projects anyways, all the way until completion... which is why I now have a small collection of unclaimed dragons. (These are some of my breeding projects for wishers who never picked them up. The first, I raffled off in the DWF's 250th Wish raffle, the second I have kept as a breeding pair, and the last, well, I'm giving her some more time before I decide what to do with her.) Well, it's time to actually make a backburner sort of status for my projects, and thus, for all the inactive wishers, I have put them in their own category here, in my lair & den, and on my nesting calendar - they're now in the "if it is convenient, I will nest" category, and... I really never have convenient openings. For the ones that need a specific eye type other than Nature, I won't bother pinging for them unless I have other projects I am pinging for, and if there's enough nests available at that time, then I will nest them. Additionally, it's going to be difficult for me to let go of a project I've put so much effort into. However, if these wishes actually get removed from the wishlist (they're currently all on the inactive list, not the removed list), I will pluck up the courage to get rid of the project. It just stinks to spend so much time on what amounts to nothing. ----- It's not all glum news, though. I'm still completing projects, too! And picking up new projects, as well. On the completed list, is this one, which was kind-of-sort-of completed. I got the one-off (middle dragon) and showed her to the wisher, Kintoro, who was very excited, and wanted to complete the project themselves. So, I sent them the three pairs, for them to complete the project at their own pace. I would say it's freed up space, but it was only 7 dragons in total, and they were all nesting in Earth so they weren't even taking up my nests, but it is one less thing on my mind, I suppose! Also on the completed list, is one I got back from the nester today, this girl! I wish I could tell you more about this project, but truth be told, I had two Coatl projects with Lead primary whose existence I was only vaguely aware of (mostly just via my nesting calendar) and I have no idea why. In any case, these projects and anything about them just didn't stick in my head. They were both pretty small, no huge pyramids needed for either, and they ran pretty smoothly. That's about all I've got. I suppose it's a good thing that a wish be unremarkable and finish quietly without much fuss. Maybe that's why, they were both well-behaved. Hah, I'd make a terrible parent by this measure. ----- As for new projects, well, I have two, for now! I am also expecting to be inheriting not one, but two pair wishes from another breeder, just waiting on the dragons they plan to send me, so I am hesitant to jump at the opportunity to fill my plate perhaps too much, so I'm starting small-ish. I figured the colours were going to be what would give me the most grief, but in reality, it was actually the genes. Fade and Runes I can ignore and buy later, but Constellation, I need to have inherited, and for some strange reason, it was really rare in this range. I spread out the dragon search over a couple weeks, hoping to have the Auction House replenish dragons, hopefully with Constellation, but most of my Constellation finds came from the Dragon Search, unlisted in fodder tabs and whatnot. I have only yesterday acquired the last of the dragons I needed, and that was mostly due to another one of my projects, the Beige/Fog/Platinum Wildclaw, getting a 1 in 4 pair and thus removing most of the project - including some dragons that were in range for this project, with Constellation. I do find it amusing and very convenient that dragons from previous projects find use in new projects. Speed is of utmost importance, and because the DWF bank is currently covering gem genes for Ancients so that we can just go for colours on a modern breed and get the Ancient project done faster, I would have just gone that route... except... well, there's this problem, and his name is Nightbeak. Nightbeak is agonizingly close, like 2 colours off on the tertiary close. I picked him up a while ago for this very wish and stored him away to become the future breeder's problem, and well, here we are. He is closer in colours than most moderns I can find, but of course there are absolutely no options for Veilspun mates for him. I have a couple prospects, but they're both stud requests, and the pessimist in me says "fat chance on getting both owners to agree, and then getting a good girl to pair to him from them." So now I am torn - do I potentially make a Veilspun tree, possibly all the way to the 16-pair generation (which, with him, I'd only need half, since he's half the final pair), which could very well take as long as any other 16-pair start, or do I accept that I might not be able to use him efficiently, and just go for colours on modern breeds, potentially costing quite a bit? I... don't know. I suppose I won't count my eggs until they hatch, I will have to see how the stud requests go, but this is a conundrum that I won't be able to put off forever.

That one? It also just completed without much fuss. I made a 1 in 16 pair, just as the wish was moved to the inactive list, so I was content to just have the one pair that I'd nest if the opportunity came. Well, the opportunity arrived conveniently, and then the pair decided to get the job done on their very first nest. So uh, that one's done. I also managed to get in touch with the wisher off-site, so he's even been delivered to them! Like with the other Lead Coatl wish, I don't really have much to say about this one because it was so uneventful. Additionally, the Obs/Sunshine/Moon wish has been moved back to the full-steam-ahead projects, which, I never really stopped working on it in part because I had a hunch they'd be back, and also it overlaps with the Mulberry/Flaxen/Obs wish, so it benefited me to keep breeding the pairs. Nevertheless, it's one that's going to remain difficult. Been keeping my eyes out for ways to improve the project, but any way I slice it, it's going to be a slow one. And, as promised, I received two pair wishes, along with the dragons from the previous breeder for them. One of the wishes appears to be inactive, so that one has been shelved for now, until I hear from them, but the other, is a-go! With the dragons they sent me, I was able to make enough G4 pairs (and then some) for both halves of this pair wish. Here's hoping it finishes up quickly! With the two pair wishes handed off to me, I'm... still doing great for lair space, and I'm itching for another project, or three.

I finally got a Beige/Fog/Platinum boy, but that was acceptable for the wisher, so off he went, and this wish is done and dusted! This project was the quieter of the trio, with the Brick/Mulberry/Yellow being stubborn and the Lemon/Amethyst/Orca just being a plain old mess, but it was still a difficult one that progressed slower than some other projects. What actually sped it up in the end was becoming old enough to be eligible for gem genes, as being careful with what gets inherited was what was slowing the project down considerably - and it's with a certain amount of irony that he still inherited both Wasp and Constellation in the end anyway. Does that mean I shouldn't have worried so much in the first place with inheriting genes? I personally don't think so, I think I just got a last burst of luck for this project that helped me finally create a nice, close final pair. But, I don't like to rely on luck, because as with the other two, especially the Brick/Mulberry/Yellow, it's entirely possible to never get "lucky enough" to make any progress. ----- On the opposite end of the luck spectrum is that Bogsneak pair project. After making my post, I got the first round of nests back, and was absolutely blown away by the absurdly close babies I got. From parents who definitely weren't close enough to consistently give me literal one-offs, I had multiple one-offs. and every single pair did this. The end result is that I got two unrelated final pairs, with 1 in 3 and 1 in 6 odds. Nice! (I don't say this often about my project dragons, but I love you guys!) As for the rest of my projects, progress is... slow? I mean, they're mostly Wildclaws or Coatls at this point, and it's hard to remember that the reason why the project feels like it hasn't done anything in a month, is because it takes longer than a month for these dragons to come off breeding cooldown. I've done some serious work on the Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon, trying to make sure it doesn't stagnate, and I finally got my first generation 3 pair for the project. (Somehow they still don't look very much like the goal.) I've also taken a stab at improving the Mulberry/Flaxen/Obsidian project, though need to give it a more thorough look at some point. The other projects still feel like they're just starting for the most part. The Veilspun project is... doing alright. Somehow, the breeding requests worked out, and I now am going to be spamming for nests for two final pairs. They aren't the best, but for Veilspuns, they should be manageable. And then, there's that Blood/Pistachio/Eldritch project, that I just realized I haven't even posted about yet. Start Date: November 14, 2021. Status: Please stop fighting the Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon for "worst project", that is not a good title. [/columns]
I was waiting to collect the last starter pairs I felt I needed for this project before posting about it, and man, that was... difficult. I spent almost a month scouring the AH for new listings, with the challenging part being getting dragons on the brown side of Blood. So many disappointing Maroon dragons out there. It's finally set up, but I have a feeling it'll be one I'll be revisiting in the future to try to improve. It's not on the level of the Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon, but it initially sure tried to be, and I was getting a little exasperated with every Coatl project being horrendously difficult. After finally getting it sorted and at least comfortably started, I went back to looking at new projects to pick up, because my lair still has plenty of space. (That's always a good measure, right?) I might be able to get this one done without too much fuss, actually. A few choice purchases from Dragon Search (inquiries already sent), along with the dragons I got from the DWF nursery, might be all I need for this one. Crossing fingers! Once I actually get those dragons I've asked about, I think I'll be ready for yet another project. We'll see!

Hey, it's the last of the stubborn trio!

On the opposite end of the luck spectrum is that Bogsneak pair project. Nice!

(I don't say this often about my project dragons, but I love you guys!)

As for the rest of my projects, progress is...
74276098.png73670300.png
(Somehow they still don't look very much like the goal.)

I've also taken a stab at improving the Mulberry/Flaxen/Obsidian project, though need to give it a more thorough look at some point.

Coatl Female with Blood Fade, Pistachio Shimmer, Eldritch Ghost and Wind or Plague eyes.

Start Date: November 14, 2021.
Status: Please stop fighting the Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon for "worst project", that is not a good title.

(That's always a good measure, right?)

Start Date: December 8, 2021.
Status: Inherited this one, it's in good shape! Already have a 1 in 8 pair.
The first of the two that I picked up, I've actually inherited from another breeder, and it's pretty much almost done, so, not much of a dent in my space. They needed a hiatus and so passed on the project to be finished off. Currently those dragons are out on nests - we'll see if this one wraps up in 2 days.

Whew, it's time for some good luck, apparently! I've gotten two projects done much quicker than I thought I would. The first one is Curiosity: Her parents were actually intended to be the grandparents, and their kids (AKA, her), were to be the final pair. When she hatched, I noticed that, gee, visually, Sable Starmap looks quite similar to Umber Starmap, so I asked the wisher if she was close enough, and indeed she is! So, that one is finished! For such odd colours (the Ultramarine still feels quite out there, but the outfit plan makes perfect sense in its completion), this project went remarkably well overall. I was fortunate that there was at least one other person who was breeding in this range with very similar genes (shoutout to @Brunkori), and was able to pick up a few already-pretty-close dragons to start with. Not to be outdone in terms of luck, is my personal project, actually. Just as I was grumbling to myself about it taking a while to get anywhere, I got a nest back from one of the great-grandparents, with the goal baby in tow! And, as ever, weird scries usually are for fandragons, and she is to be my fandragon for Zyra, from League of Legends! I was actually torn on keeping her as the goal baby, since she did not come from the pair with Okapi, so I will need to buy the gene, and I was even contemplating continuing the project to get the Okapi... but coming from a great-grandparent, she's skipped 2 generations, which, in Wildclaw terms, is potentially many, many months still. As my friend put it best, "Okapi is definitely the cheapest part of that dragon." Her parents' odds, by the way, were 1 in 396, making them the second-highest to get the goal baby out of all my breeding projects, the highest being the Lemon/Amethyst/Orca Wildclaw. So, I've found myself picking up dragons with grandparent-quality colours, but placing them in the great-grandparent generation, simply to give myself the extra legroom to work in the right genes. It's very much a work-in-progress, and I've currently got several dragons with no mates, but... we'll get there. And I am glad to have a (small) break from Wildclaws and Coatls.

@Ganondorf Thanks so much for tagging me and congratulations on finishing that wish project!! It’s so wonderful to hear my donated dragons were able to help. [emoji=guardian happy size=1] One day once I’ve cleared out my personal projects (or substantially increased my lair- & denspace) I’d love to participate in DWF as a breeder - for now I’ll keep checking in on the donation thread to see if I spot any more wishes I can help with.

I am quite excited, that Skydancer was project #96 for me, and I have 4 projects (Nightshade Coatl, Veilspun, Bogsneak pair, and technically the new Banescale) that all could be completed any nest now, so project #100 will likely be one of those four, unless a different project starts getting very lucky. My lair space is still doing good, so once I have this Pearlcatcher one settled and sorted out, I'll probably look at picking up yet another wish!

Oh my goodness, has it really been two months since I last updated this? Things have been hectic for me lately, so here I am, finally sitting down and scrambling to update this. I have three projects completed since I last updated! The first one is... the last project I talked about, actually. I never did receive the remaining dragons from the previous breeder, as they went on hiatus shortly after, so forged on ahead without, and wound up getting her pretty quickly, as they were already pretty close! Again, not too much to say, since I did not do the bulk of the work for this project, just finished it. This next one, though, was a surprise. The easier one of the two Nightmare Coatls had some considerably better luck than its buddy, the Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon, with a final burst of that luck coming from my 1 in 225 odds grandparent pair. Not quite as astounding as Zyra (1 in 396) or the Lemon/Amethyst/Orca (1 in 512), who came from the intended great-grandparents, but definitely still amazing, and possibly many months sooner than predicted. Though their colours were pretty similar, I think the reason this one was much easier was because of the genes. Glimmer continues its reign as most popular gem tertiary gene despite the latest additions, and Iridescent has stiff competition, but still remains readily available. Not having to worry about the secondary gene was also a boon! As for the Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon, it's still struggling along, sadly. I'm still stuck mostly on generation two of the project. And the latest of the completed projects is this Veilspun! I was starting to worry that I might need to look into more breeding options if the 1 in 12 pair didn't start behaving, but thankfully, this past breeding, they got the job done! I am super thankful I was able to make use of Nightbeak and that the stud requests worked out and gave me usable dragons. 1 in 12 was the best I could make with the resulting dragons, and I was definitely worried about relying on it, but it didn't drag on long enough for me to consider a second go at restructuring the project. So, happy days on this one! I do find it amusing that I tried to predict which projects would finish first, and out of the four I listed, only the Veilspun is in today's update. Silly me, thinking a Coatl pair with 1 in 4 odds would be able to get the job done quickly. And I guess the Bogsneak pairs heard all my praise and decided they had done good enough. Not yet, guys, please! Technically, the Banescale pair has given me a decent dragon, but again, I am in no rush, and if I get a repeat with Plague Unusual (changed the eye colour I wanted, ha ha) before I get around to leveling the one I have, then that's one less thing I need to buy for him. ----- Naturally, in the past two months, I have picked up more projects, though I actually picked up these two very recently, for a specific reason: It's check-in time for the Dragonwish Foundation, meaning I am checking in with all the wishers and breeders, making sure everyone is active and that wishes are getting done. I usually leave myself plenty of space leading up to this, in case there are any wishes that need reassigning and dragons need to be picked up ASAP from previous breeders, which is precisely how I got these two projects. But, speaking of the check-in time, the Cerise/Cerise/Strawberry project has officially been inactive long enough that it was removed from the wishlist. Now I'm really torn, because I'm down to the final pair, and it was a bit of a journey to get here. Granted, in the process, I have bred into existence a few useful dragons (notably, her) so if I had to repeat this project in the future, it would hopefully go a little faster, but it's still not a project I want to repeat. However, I don't really want to keep the pair. They may only be two dragons, and I suppose I could add them to the Hypothetical Hatchery, but they're visually similar to Howard & Maria, and I'm just... not keen on another pair of Coatls. Hmm, what to do with you two? Oh my goodness, has it really been two months since I last updated this? Things have been hectic for me lately, so here I am, finally sitting down and scrambling to update this. I have three projects completed since I last updated!
75745991_350.png

The first one is... the last project I talked about, actually. I never did receive the remaining dragons from the previous breeder, as they went on hiatus shortly after, so forged on ahead without, and wound up getting her pretty quickly, as they were already pretty close! Again, not too much to say, since I did not do the bulk of the work for this project, just finished it.
76174571_350.png

76223446_350.png

Naturally, in the past two months, I have picked up more projects, though I actually picked up these two very recently, for a specific reason: It's check-in time for the Dragonwish Foundation, meaning I am checking in with all the wishers and breeders, making sure everyone is active and that wishes are getting done. Wow, an update that wasn't prompted by a project being completed? Blasphemy! Well, it'll just be a small one as a follow-up to the check-in being completed, because I am unlucky enough to have two wishes to add to the inactive projects list, and they are tragic, to say the least. The first one is the infamous Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon Coatl, and it does hurt a little. I still had one last pair on generation two (I don't know how I lost the other one, but I've got eyes on the Dragon Search for mates for their kids, now, I guess), and genes were still being somewhat a pain, but I was starting to get dragons that actually look remotely like the goal! It was exciting! Ah well, all I can do is hope the wisher eventually returns. The other was the Metals/Amethyst/Violet Wildclaw. This one has become somewhat the new Brick/Mulberry/Yellow - its luck is absolutely atrocious, and I have indeed been replacing parents left, right, and center because they all seem to want to fight me on the only two traits that matter: Getting Wildclaws & getting Constellation. They just will not inherit these two things with half-way decent colours, and especially not all on the same dragon. It's become a growing thorn in my side, and maybe what it needs is to be shelved for a while. In any case, my Inactive den tab is over 60 dragons now, so... if I want some of that space back, I need to make some progress somewhere. Argh. ----- The observant might notice that in addition to those two wishes being moved to the Inactive section, the Mint/Umber/White project has disappeared entirely. I had a 1 in 12 pair for this project who... were outdone by a wide-range fodder pair. Another eagle-eyed breeder spotted a baby girl with exact colours on the Dragon Search and scooped her up. Since that wish was actually the oldest unassigned wish on the wishlist, it was eligible for the two gem scrolls she'd need (Metallic & Glimmer). So, the wish was completed, but I can't really take the credit for that one, ha ha. How wide was the fodder pair? I had a look, did the math, and discovered my 1 in 12 pair got shown up by a pair that had a 1 in 1,066,400 odds of getting a girl with Bee with the exact colours. She's literally one in a million. I had a gobsmacking number of weggs this past month, which certainly did not help. The Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon wish has been moved to the active list again, as the wisher again returned! I half-expected this, and didn't really slow it down even when it was on the back-burner. I'm very pleased to say it's almost entirely on the great-grandparent generation now! The Cerulean/Sanddollar/Seafoam & Orca/Ultramarine/Ultramarine projects are also approaching the finish line, and the Blood/Pistachio/Eldritch project has made some excellent headway as well! A few of the projects feel like they're stagnating slightly, so I'm going to give each a closer look and see how they can be improved. That's more or less it for me for now!

The motto for treasure scrolls in the DWF has been "we can buy them" and it still is, but a few choice picks has meant I might not need to lean on that for this project. It is unfortunately not on the great-grandparent generation, rather, one generation above, but with lower cooldowns in the mix, it hopefully won't take too long to complete.

Guardian Female with Garnet Iridescent, Midnight Marbled, Strawberry Okapi and Plague eyes.

Start Date: April 2, 2022.
Status: Inherited this one from another breeder!
This one exists, I guess! I did get a bunch of dragons from the previous breeder, and with them and a few other choice picks, I am on the great-grandparent generation to start, with a handful of spares to boot, so hopefully this one can take advantage of the head-start it's been given.

Obelisk (or any breed) Female with Midnight Metallic, Blood Alloy, Vermilion Veined and Fire eyes.

Start Date: April 6, 2022.
Status: Finally all set up!
Another one that I don't yet have much to say on. The colour range is pretty bloated! Those genes in the colour range was a different matter, and most of my purchases were from the Dragon Search rather than the Auction House because I really needed to search for ideal dragons.

Imperial Female with Ginger Skink (or Basic), Hunter Bee, Jungle Opal and Nature eyes.

Start Date: April 24, 2022.
Status: Just picked this one up, no clue what's in store.
And this one is exactly as it says on the tin: No idea what's in store! I picked it up today, and have not yet even looked at available dragons for it yet. I am, however, excited that it needs Nature eyes, I haven't had a Nature-eyed project in so long. I completed the last one way back in December 2020.

(It seems Nature eyes aren't commonly requested.)

For the rest of my projects, progress is... slow-ish, it feels, right now.

Oh my gosh has it really been 2 months since I last posted? Ack! It's been an eventful two months, too. I recently picked up a new method for keeping myself on task with a schedule and just... never actually put "write a post for the breeding log" on that schedule, until now. And I can tell this new scheduler is working, because I am actually getting the tasks done. Like this one. Looking back at my previous post there, the last project I completed that I wrote about was... Starset? Really? Oh no, I've got some catching up to do. Without further delay... I-I've already completely and utterly forgotten the details of this project. I do remember that it wasn't particularly difficult, which is why it probably doesn't stick out in my mind. That tends to happen. When one project is quietly behaving and finishing itself without too much delay, it is kind of overshadowed by the other ones that are not cooperating as much. There are a few on the list that are definitely taking more than their fair share of attention at the moment. Next one is these two. Technically, the project was only for one dragon, but the wish... had a bit of a history. If memory serves me right, this is the last wish of the "original" line-up of DWF wishes when I took over 6 years ago, meaning it was placed 6+ years ago. Through the years, I think it had a couple breeders, but the wisher kept going inactive for long stretches, so the breeders would stop working on it, and one of the breeders went MIA as well. I eventually took it on when the wisher returned in 2020, and then they went inactive again, so it went onto the back-burner again, but I slowly worked on it regardless, because at this point, there was a pattern that I was determined to break. Eventually, it had been long enough that the wish was officially removed from the wishlist for inactivity, and I hemmed and hawed about keeping the final pair I had produced, just in case. Thanks to my indecisiveness, I still had the pair when the wisher returned again in May! So I have sent them the pair to finish the project themselves! Mission accomplished! This is why I have problems letting go of projects if the wishers go MIA. More recently, I have two more project completed! The other breeders were surprised to know that the difference in this case was the tertiary color. Koi is usually very different colour to colour. As it happens, that is not true for Mint and Seafoam Koi. The wisher ended up liking Mint better than Seafoam, so took this near-miss instead! And lastly, little Lucifer here came from what was supposed to be the grandparent generation pair. I won't complain, though, and I am quite happy this project ended so abruptly, because it was getting quite out of hand. I just had an over-abundance of options, and was making pairs left and right to help speed it along, only for her to hop out of an egg much sooner than expected. ----- I have naturally also started a few projects. And by "a few", I mean "four". I suppose I should update on how the Ginger/Hunter/Jungle Imp set up! Did you know Opal is really rare in the tree colours range, on Limited & Rare breeds and with gem secondaries? I didn't! And I was very upset! I did eventually get over my hopes and dreams of an easier project being crushed and have set up the project and now it's chugging along. Glowtail is one of those genes that I don't think was ever popular (in fact, I remember quite a bit of drama upon it's release), so it is unsurprisingly rare. For the Skydancer, I took my time picking up pairs, as I scoured the AH for any new listings with Glowtail specifically, so most of the pairs actually do have Glowtail in them. It would have been a much harder affair to get enough pairs if I had not ignored breed/gene rarity for the other traits. In fact, I might not have finished setting up the project by now if I had, or I would have had to settle for much worse pairs colours-wise. As it is, I am optimistic for the project, it is completely set up, even if the end goal has a very slim chance of getting any of the other traits. The Coatl project was mostly made much easier by the existence of the DWF Triples library, our collection of triple-coloured all-rare-genes Coatls & Wildclaws. There were a couple Glowtail triples in the blue range in the collection I was able to make use of, and besides them and the one dragon I kept from the Cerulean/Sanddollar/Seafoam project who happened to have Glowtail, I only found one other dragon with Glowtail, so in total, I've only got 4 copies of the gene in the project, and I will need to play my cards very carefully to make sure it gets inherited. ----- That is it for the completed projects and the new projects in the past two months! I'm out of tabs and almost out of den space, strangely enough, so I think this is the lot I'm stuck with for the next bit, until some of these projects get smaller. Within the projects in the "in-between" of pick-up and completion, the Obsidian/Sunshine/Moon is a serious thorn in my side, with the Periwinkle/White/Sanddollar right behind it in troublesomeness. I'm also really annoyed I haven't completed the green Bogsneak wish - I have a perfect female from each unrelated pair, but neither pair has produced a male yet to complete the project. In fact, I've gotten multiple perfect females. The Blood/Pistachio/Eldritch & Sanddollar/Sable/Sand are being a bit stubborn about giving me decent colours to work with, but we're officially on the grandparent/parent generations now, so we're in the home stretch for those two. My personal project, the Tundra, would probably have been completed by now if it were a wish, but because it's my personal project, I am taking my time to get all 4 traits inherited, and we're getting really close now. The rest of the projects are all progressing, some faster than others, but not too much to say about them yet.
