she came across Tar in the lands of once-burning fields and saw on her body that she, too, carried reminders of the time the sky had been ablaze so intensely it seems to have sucked in all the light from the world and left them with only grey shadows that seemed to clump themselves in every corner and settle into their skin. Tar was a feral thing that knew no thought or language, only instinct and the need to survive. she finds herself following the other dragon; Soot isn't sure why, but she suspects the little spark of hope in her belly that has never truly gone away, even after all these years.

character notes: can't see super well bc the fires partially damaged her eyesight, very rough and tumble on the outside, not afraid to show her teeth, soft at heart - has a little bit of optimism left that hasnt died even after all the stuff she's been through and it encourages her to take chances, cares for Tar though she isnt great at showing it at first, had a life before the fires where she was taught to speak/read/write but doesn't talk about it (aka idk what her life was and dont wanna flesh it out so ~its a mystery~), wanders the post-apocalyptic landscape and has traveled pretty far but felt drawn back to the oil fields which led to meeting Tar, older than Tar, starts off with just the two of them helping each other survive each day until Soot eventually teaches Tar how to understand her and the world around them and after many years they fall in love, but thats a long way off
gijinka would be a black woman, pudgy and muscular (think weightlifting instead of bodybuilding - need padding for those muscles), w/ very short curly hair (4b) [ref], brown eyes w/ slight orange tint and semi-opaque pupils on a rounded face, and slightly shorter than Tar would be, (looks soft but can and will kick your entire self into next Tuesday)
