I just finished a project dragon of mine and am trying to figure out what apparel to put on it, but have no clue how to do so with so many options. Any help would be greatly appreciated, either for this specific dragon or how to find good apparel combinations out of the thousands of pieces out there dragon for reference:

I find it helps to first narrow down what kind of dragon they are! Where are they from, what do they do, what do they like? A fletcher is going to look very different from a masquerade party attendee.

So first question's first, who is this dragon?

I usually design outfits by picking out an element I'd like to focus on - either on the dragon itself, or on a piece of apparel I'm having the dragon wear. For your dragon, I really love the pink/green gradients in the wings and neck, and the sparkles make for a nice touch. Off the top of my head, I think some starsilk wingdrapes would look good and would help focus the eye around an area of your dragon that's visually striking. In the dressing room, I'll play around with different colors and layering to decide on what version of the outfit I like the best. Out of the colors of starsilks available, I think Vintage ones look the best. With that in mind, I would play around with other pieces of the set - what else looks nice on this dragon? I don't feel like the shawl, cloak, or scarf look terribly good on this dragon, and the sleeves don't add much, so I remove those. That leaves me with: Which is a very solid start to an outfit! Going from here, I'd look more closely at what parts of the dragon are feeling a little bare, and start sorting apparel by color and location on the dragon to fill them out. To get more familiar with what sets are available, I'd hang around in the marketplace for a while, or peruse people's outfits they've made on Dragon Share. You'll start to remember sets that stand out to you, and you'll be able to recall them when you're starting a new outfit. Edit/followup: In this case, I feel like this dragon in this outfit could use something around her tummy, and maybe an ornament on her tail that doesn't cover those lovely stripes. With that in mind, I filter the apparel available by "Body" and start clicking around to see what's available. I think that a lace Waist Frill of some sort looks cute. Entering "Waist Frill" into the search, I pick out a few that look like they may match. Out of the options, I think the Antique Lace Waist Frill looks the best. I think that the wristlet and tail ornament add just enough flair to the outfit. I would be satisfied here, but some people prefer a more cluttered look. It's up to you whether you want to keep adding more apparel or not. Hopefully this could help :)

When I'm not sure how to dress a dragon, I usually just go to the apparel page and start tossing on random stuff from my inventory (I have 40+ pages of apparel from familiar bonding chests/coli/events/idk where all this stuff came from really). I often find it easier than the dressing room because I don't have to remember the names of anything. Then if I like a particular piece, I might add others from the same set. This might not be super helpful for you at the moment if you don't have that much, but you'll get there over time! Here's an outfit idea for you. It uses layering of translucent apparel - for instance, moondust & verdant starsilks combine to match her colors really well. One of my go-tos when dressing dragons is Eclipse's Apparel Catalog- very helpful to know what is available and where you get it!

As far as this particular dragon goes, I might try Moondust over Paradise (or whatever the red/green one is) Starsilks? But I don't have the time atm to do a full outfit, that's just where I would start with a kiddo like this (same color-matching reasons as the user above)
