In the coli, the ratio of food to trinket drops is (or was) balanced approximately to match the trade-in ratios.
This has been missed when adding drops to site activities, with food and trinkets dropping at approximately equal rates.
This has lead to a comparative flood of trinkets and famine of food - I doubt I'm the only one who has hoard-sold trinkets by the stack because there's not enough food to match. In the forums, trinkets now trade at 2 trinkets per 1 food - despite needing ~2 food per 1 trinket.
This is the current state of my hoard:

If it's not reasonably fixable, Higgins trades for switching from one to the other would allow users to fix their backlog of trinkets.

i can corroborate vendrus' ratios and i 100% agree with a request to balance the droprates or a higgins conversion of trinkets into food! here's my current stock

agreed; I can't coli consistently and get almost all of my items from site activities, which makes the problem even more noticeable. I never get nearly enough food compared to the sheer amount of trinkets I collect. also, I have so. much. Mimic Powder.
a trinkets-for-food trading service would be very helpful, or alternatively, trinkets and Mimic Powder based trades for either Strange Chests or items that have been removed from Strange Chests. but that should probably go in the suggestions forum, lol.

i've been using my mimic powder as baldwin-melting fodder, but even with that and selling it for the hoardsell pursuits i hardly made a dent in the 3k i had remaining over the past year - if you're not planning to make a suggestion about it, i would be willing to draft one for potential mimic powder recipes/uses!

I'd like that! I don't really know what would be a balanced recipe so I appreciate the help ^^
and yeah, I hoardsold several stacks of it last year to get funds quickly when I was broke during a fest, but it just feels weird to get so much of it during NotN and not have a lot to use it on.
wait what are the current recipes... (checks)
according to the Database, currently the Murderous set recipes require 10 Mimic Powder per item (along with grey slime and 5 food), the Cursed Die and Die of Bargaining require 10 Mimic Powder (along with 15 trinkets and 20 food) each, and the Fidget Toy vista requires 99 Mimic Powder and 1 Fidget Toy familiar. that's... not a lot of multiple-item uses unless you really want multiples of the Murderous set, and those eat into the food stacks as well. that just feels unbalanced. odd!

if only we could sprinkle mimic powder on an entire stack of trinket and it would turn it into an egg

even if it can't be fixed this notn, either the trades or the drop rate desperately need a rebalance for future notns, i'm in the same boat as everyone here, i am metaphorically drowning in trinkets and mimic powder with nothing to use them on
