I'm being taken to the jail known as spending a weekend with family. But in the mean time I figured I'd distract myself by striking up a conversation about my hyperfocus with y'all fine folks

So what's your favourite superhero/s? Superheroes can be from any thing that fits the criteria of a thing with powers or gadgets that they use to save the world. Can also include villains and anti heroes, this is just a fun little chat about our favourite weirdos in spandex

(By the way mine is Spawn from image comics!)

I'm not a big superhero guy anymore, but as a kid I was absolutely obsessed with Cybersix! I haven't been able to find a way to rewatch it as an adult though.

Martin Manhunter was maybe one of my first crushes as a kid, I wish he'd been featured in more of the new cartoons and films.

I also really love Blade, I adore all three movies (yes, even the third one). I watched the newest Deadpool just for the Wesley Snipes cameo.

Spawn is cool, did the new movie end up getting shelved? I remember being pretty excited about it a a few years ago and then it just never happened.

@FaerieScary Haha fair enough! Ironically i wasn’t a superhero fan as a kid but now i’m big into them. Unfortunately i’m not aware of cyber six, but i looked them up and the art looks really familiar, i must of watched it or saw an ad for it at some point. But either way they look really cool!

Lol i mean that’s fair enough, Martian Manhunter is pretty cool. I completely agree with the bit about including him more, DC has so many cool characters that they shelve. Like batman, Superman and Wonderwoman are cool but i’d love a martian manhunter or green arrow focused film or short. I know green arrow had that tv show but from what i saw it was just batman with a bow instead of being the witty jerk i like

I’ve heard blade is really good! I haven’t watched it but i know that it involves vampires which honestly i was surprised a vampire superhero isnt overly popular outside of superhero fan circles, the premise alone is so intriguing but i just gotta get around to watching the films to pass judgement

Haha fair enough, i’ve heard the 2nd deadpool film has a mixed reception anyway so it’s good you can get some enjoyment out of it

Aaaah idk, i was so hyped too but now it’s just gone radio silent. Then again that happened to a lot of films that have now come out, though they’re usually not great films. I suppose it can’t be worse than the og (unless its bad and boring, which is the ultimate sin)

I’ve also heard of films like batwoman getting axed for tax reasons so maybe it met the same fate? Hopefully not as spawn deserves a film as cool as he is

SPIDER-MAN

My parents bought some of those compilations of the original Spider-Man comics when I was young and they are just delightful. No other superhero hits like him. Down-on-his-luck guy struggling with poverty and doing the right thing, living with his aunt. Powerset uniquely suited to New York City. Powerful, but not so powerful that his enemies have to be overwhelming. Sassy. A+ work. I miss the three Spider-Man movies, from before the MCUification.

Also @ FaerieScary AGREED with the Blade movies, truly a treat. They're from before the concept of Superhero Movies as a Thing were mainstream, so they're just, you know, fun urban fantasy romps really.

I'm not a big comic/superhero person, but every adaptation of Spiderman I've ever seen has just hit so hard

All my favorite costumed people live in Gotham City :'D I've always loved Batman and co, villain gallery included. There's just so many great themes to play with in that cast of characters <3

I tend to like female superheroes more than male ones because I'm a lady and I can identify with them better, so no surprise I like Wonder Woman and Batgirl. I do like Batman a lot, though. I really loved 90's X-Men comics as a kid and adored Jean Grey, Storm, Rogue and Jubilee. As for villains, I like Poison Ivy a lot these days. I also love the Loki variants from the Loki miniseries. Gator Loki is best Loki, lol.

Squirrel Girl, for being willing to have fun, hilariously meta, and a spunky college student who fights gods and wins. And also squirrels.

The X-Men, collectively. Including all the ancillary teams. The mutant area of the Marvel Universe is my home in superhero comics. If I have to pick, specifically the original Excalibur team (Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, Phoenix (Rachel), Meggan, Captain Britain, and Lockheed, with Widget, Dai Thomas, and Alastaire and Alysande Stuart from the Weird Happening Organization as recurring characters). I'm catching up on the "After the Fall" beginnings slowly in the comics, after having spent the summer finishing up reading through the whole Krakoan era (read a year and a half's worth of comics in a couple of months because my backlog was so huge). If it's got mutants, I probably like it.

I do also like the Batverse, but more from media than comics. Batman '66 was in reruns when I was a kid, and I adored it's goofiness. And then Batman: The Animated Series was on at the same time as X-Men: The Animated Series, and my superhero brain was super-happy. Jack Nicholson's Joker scared me so much as a kid - he will forever be the scariest Joker to me. Love Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and would gladly watch more of her adventures. Gotham was my favorite iteration of the Batverse, though. I liked the origin stories for a lot of Gotham's characters - especially Penguin and Riddler. And Alexander Siddig as Ras-al-Ghul was perfect casting. So was Sean Pertwee as Alfred. LOVED HIM!!!

Ooh, I've always been a Nightwing fan ever since I was a kid (with him in his Robin days in Teen Titans). He's just overall one of the nicest superheroes in existence. He's arguably as natural a leader (if not more so since he's been doing it since he was a teenager) than Captain America, and despite his dark costume and him inheriting some of Batman's traits, logical thinking and seriousness when the situation calls for it, he's a constant force for good in the multiverse; you can pretty much always count on Dink (;P) Grayson no matter what Earth you're on.

Plus he's hot and canonically has the best a** in comics.
