Not saying you can't be hurt by such comments. For me it just seems a bit far-fetched to have a body type discussion about a dragon?
I scrolled through the thread and found a lot of people saying it's fatphobia and that's why people dislike the breed, that's what I was getting at. I'm not quoting since I don't want people getting dragged into it.

it is not fatphobia to simply dislike the breed. it is fatphobia to refer to their large stomachs in saying that they look "grotesque", "ugly", or even "diseased" (all real things people have said today). people have been asking for more body type diversity in the breeds for a long time as literally every breed other than bogs and snappers have been skinny. it feels good to have characters who look like you and then it feels awful to have those elements that look like you, a real person, be bashed for being "grotesque".

For me it's not about them being "fat", it's just really not my cup of tea and I would've preferred something different for Light. You can't scream fatphobia at every person who thinks they're ugly. I don't like Fae either so I'm skinnyphobic now?

Yeah, it's all just ascribing malice to not liking the off proportions of book-bug 2

People can be offensive without intending to do so, I've seen plenty of comments of people literally just saying they're ugly because of their body shape and no other attribute. The response to this breed has had some of the most vile comments of any breed release I've seen.
Which is a shame because there's a sizeable portion of the player base that is a bid bored with 'skinny elegant noodle' vers 12

@kitsunegari except that there is a significant portion of the people critiquing the everlux who consistently bring up body type as a reason why they dislike the design. So it seems a little... how do you say it... "far-fetched" to me that you're willingly coming into a thread where people talk about their discomfort with those comments, and then make a big stink about the people who are unhappy with these comments, only to complain that people are discussing their issues with the body type discourse? If you don't want to see people discussing body type discourse, why are you actively seeking out a thread with people talking about body type discourse? It kind of sounds like you're actively trying to start a fight, and as far as I'm concerned, it's not worth my time of day.

And I saw so many more that weren't that, and plenty that demonstrated their issues with the design politely. Kept in the vent thread and generally leaving the rest of the userbase alone, until some users opted in to start calling people bigots and making threads like this telling them to 'die mad'.
Does that really seem at all appropriate to do

Why are you getting defensive? I was curious about the thread and wrote what I saw being written in it by others. I don't really have an idea about what is being said in the main thread. Not actively seeking out anything and making "big stink". But whatever.

@/Contaminate Where in this thread, pray tell, has anyone explicitly called someone a bigot? Give me a direct quote. Ctrl+F the word "bigot" for me on each post. Also, do you actually, genuinely, sincerely think I want people who dislike the design to die? You're reading way too deeply into this.
That you don't understand the hypocrisy of your comment is both baffling and almost comical

It just sounds like you might not agree with what comments count as fatphobia.

Awesome. Still doesn't negate the fact that some people were making genuinely abhorrently wordedcomments just because others types of comments existed.

Honestly, the actual topic feels a lot like bait, like it's trying to bait discourse.
From my understanding MOST people that dislike them dislike them because they look insect like, maggot like or grub like. Grubs tend to be soft and round.
Do I think the commentary is nice to the dragons? No, not really. Especially the fugly thing.
Do I think that the majority of this is fatphobia? Also no.
I don't know what to say really, especially in response to the comparison of a 10 limbed grub dragon to a human body. I have PCOS. My body is very much soft, round tummy and thinner limbs. But I don't really understand how someone can hear those comparisons and see themselves as being attacked or insulted.
I am sympathetic of that, BUT I also think it's perhaps a bit much to imply someone is being bigoted towards weight when talking about a creature, one which looks nothing like a human being.
While I think that there should be consideration in how people talk about the babies, I also think the same can be said for how we invite discourse by making threads that specifically are about implying that the majority of the criticism comes from fatphobia.
Sometimes people just don't like spiders, grubs, snakes, so on so forth. Sometimes the language they have for that is limited, but as a reminder not everyone here is even an adult. Many, many tweens and teens probably also play FR.
