I hate their tiny little stick legs and wholly uninspired lore. These guys are legless behemoths that slowly swim through the sky and watch over the ruins in the Light region. They are not Emperor Hunters, they are guardians who were made to protect the land from Luminax's destruction by herding him away/using their bulky bodies as shields against his wrath.
To Me.

I'm imagining a bunch of tiny little chubby fat everlux all holding hands to create a [s]human[/s] dragon shield now, thank for the cutest mental image I've had all night.

I was actually thinking of them as being these massive, towering colossi that eclipse the sun but oh my god that's equally cute and hilarious. They get their training in MOMENTS after hatching from the egg. Sorry little grubs, it's War Time. Learn about the power of a Union, Or Die Trying.

You have to remember though, flight rising does anthropomorphize their dragons. They live in human-like societies, engage in human-like culture and behaviour, use tools like humans and wear clothes like humans. Even if they're not humans, they still show characteristics that are easy for people to project human-like qualities onto.
@
kynomorph I am astrally projecting the image of 45 tiny, fat, wobbly little everlux babies all stacked on top of each other wearing a trenchcoat.

Yes, but we also breed them for fun to make new interesting combos, one of them casually spreads terrible diseases and plagues, another causes workplace crunching and another still lives in lava and magma and unlike them you can't have a group of beastclan or humans that you breed and gene up.
Tbh I think we'd consider that to be a bit messed up.
That is to say, the anthropomorphization is there, but it wouldn't be entirely fair to look at a creature with 10 limbs, and assume that people who are dissing those creatures are making bigoted commentary directed at us.
But even if you remove all this stuff, "Anyway I love these chunky little buggos and y'all can die mad about it."
Does feel a lot like it's trying to bait more drama rather then resolve drama. I totally agree that it's not nice when people don't say nice things about a dragon you like and I understand it's hurtful when people use language that feels targeted.
However I also do think it's not healthy to make a topic that is only about people complaining about said dragon and dismiss the crowd as a whole. Essentially. You have a right to feel upset, but I also don't think the way you approached the topic is really helpful for you or well anyone?

I mean that's a fair observation to make. I initially did come across as quite prickly at first, I don't deny that I could have been a bit less firey and inflammatory in my first post, as well as in later replies to certain comments. I'd like to think this topic evolved into a place for people to express their grievances at feeling hurt, though, along with the funny little exchange about ways to interpret the lore about these new dragons. My intentions weren't to start any fights, only to poke fun at how serious some people are in voicing their dislike of the breed and its design. I could have gone about it in a better way, yes, but I'd like that to be water under the bridge. I apologize if anyone who dislikes the everlux feels genuinely offended or hurt by the language used in my first post, and that is not the energy I wish to carry into the rest of the thread.
This is literally a callout post and will be locked as such LOL. Its so weird to call people hating on this breed "fatphobic", are you seriously comparing irl plus-sized people to a chunky grub? because thats why people are complaining, its a squishy insect, something quite unpopular irl. If you see this breed and go "it looks like a plus-sized person thats why people hate it", the problem is YOU. So can we stop doing that? because you are weirder than the people that dislike the breed. I love my chonky grub of a dragon but yes, this thread is extremely immature and accusatory. Do better.

Well you haven't included my complaint, which is simply that it looks like they stuck wings and a horn on a catercroak! I am all for different, unique dragon designs, but therein lies my problem. It's NOT unique. It looks like something I'd fight in the coli XD And they missed the perfect design opportunity to make it into a glowworm/firefly. WHEN IT'S LIGHT. I mean, seriously..? Nobody thought of this? It doesn't even have glowtail for a gene!
Other than that, I don't have a problem with it, the lore and new genes are fantastic, and I'm glad lots of people love them. The babies are pretty cute for sure! (Don't make me scream DRAGON!!! but cute.) We can't all love every dragon design and you can find haters for every single breed out there. I'll probably warm up to them eventually, but it's my least favourite ancient breed so far and just from a personal pov that makes me a little sad, but I'm sure there are plenty of Light players who adore them, so it's fine. I love Dusthides and there are probably Earth players who hate them! Which is a perfectly valid opinion, if we all liked the same things this site wouldn't be half as interesting as it is. Peace out, enjoy your evolved catercroaks! ^-^
(ETA Mind you, I haven't actually seen any of these fatphobic comments - there are over 100 pages to wade through on the release thread - but I'm in total agreement that it's not on for people to be rude about body shape. Bugs, eh, I'm a biologist and I find them fascinating, but I get that a lot of people really don't, and I'm sure there are snake phobes who hate auraboas so I can kind of sympathise with that one. People coming to play a dragon game maybe don't expect to have their phobias shoved right in their faces LOL. What's next, giant spider dragon? I mean I wouldn't complain, but... ;)

That is a good idea, and I appreciate you acknowledging it. Though most people who see the topic are just going to see the first post and many will reply only off of that.
If you end up editing your post it might help avoid like people getting upset or on the defensive straight away. xD

I feel like some people coming to this thread are missing the context.
This thread was likely made in response to the nasty comments that were clearly expressing intolerance about the large body type. If you simply dislike the breed for other reasons, this isn't calling you out.

I just hope I didn't say anything wrong. Looking over a comment of mine, I probably used the wrong words to explain what I was saying which is oops... :') But yeah, I don't mind chubby breeds. I really like Bogsneaks for example, and I hope to eventually find more to fit in my lair. My only issue really was the head felt like quite a stark contrast to the rest of the design. Maybe it was the horn and jaw? Nothing else really.

why can't people just be happy to get a new dragon or at the very least be respectful to the artists (or others who like it)? sure, not everyone may like it, but that doesn't mean the artists/writers/devs deserve harassment for it. As a newer player, I really like the Everlux however the hatchling pose doesn't really feel right with me. That doesn't mean that myself (or any other player, for that matter) should be making comments like "ew" or "diseased-looking" in the threads! It is okay not to like a dragon breed, but don't just hurl insults in the thread. The developers should be fine with constructive criticism like "Oh, one of the horns look a bit out of place" or something like that.
