I would also like to note: have these people EVER looked at an animals that isn't a cat or a dog. I'm not even talking about just grubs but if you've worked with livestock you KNOW some of them Just Look Like That if they're older than 2 years. like at least half of the goats I work with have this kind of pot belly look and they're perfectly healthy lol

Also with the thin legs complaints I feel like they don’t have to be as thick as a lot of people say??? Like I’m not an animal physicist but wouldn’t the many many legs distribute the weight enough that they wouldn’t have to be proportional to what you see in tetrapods

idk the whole "they're disproportionate and look diseased and have ugly faces and look like their stomachs are about to burst and shouldnt be tiny" stuff is really getting to me because that's literally just what i am irl and seeing people bully a pretend dragon for looking the way i do is horrible

i swear some people do not think before they type. not all fat people are "perfectly proportioned" i.e. the fat is not necessarily going to be distributed evenly throughout the body. i know multiple people irl who have the body type of larger/round stomach with relatively skinny torso or arms. i'm not going to get into what my exact body type is because i don't think that's anyone's business but my body fat is absolutely not evenly proportioned. and that's okay.
unfortunately i wasn't surprised to see fatphobia in regards to this breed release but i was surprised at how blatant it was. the age old "health" concern really got to me. you can be healthy and fat, you can be unhealthy and skinny. i'm so tired. anyways this new breed is really cool and i'm really really happy that the fr team gave us a different body type.

You forgot the "the anatomy isn't realistic crowd" which frankly I can't figure out how they manage to tolerate any of the dragons on this site if they care about realistic anatomy.
The bug phobia crowd is confusing to me too because aether's already existed and so did the gene that gives dragons bug legs.
It's wild to me how out of the all the dragons we have we get ONE that looks like this and suddenly it's a huge problem/intolerable. Though I'll admit I'm salty because I complained that auraboas didn't really look nature flight to me and basically got told to "shut up they're pretty though".

I think it's also worth noting that fantasy creatures don't have to adhere to real-world proportions, anatomy or physics as long as there's some kind of in-universe explanation for it. Half the membranes on the forearms and wings of like 90% of the art of these dragons don't allow for them to realistically wear clothes, and much of the apparel sits awkwardly on the dragon and doesn't make sense, or has parts of the dragon clipping through it (eg. the fluff on tundra legs when wearing boots, gloves, sleeves and things of that nature), and most people just shrug it off, but suddenly there seems to be criticism because a particularly round dragon looks like it can't walk properly without its belly getting in the way? What's to say I can't draw my snapper flying with a giant wind flight hang glider made of bamboo and canvas sails, a steampunk retrofuturistic lightning flight jetpack, or a glowing crystal hoverboard with a levitation bubble around it? It's fantasy, it's fictional, and it's not bound by the laws of reality.

sorel I feel similarly about Aethers. They look like Lightning dragons to me in that instead of giving off alien space bug vibes, I get "escaped lab experiment that swallowed a pack of batteries and turned into a hyperactive squirrel knocking over all the test tubes". But eh, it's such a non-issue to me in the grand scheme of things and I'm not one to go on a huge tyrade against the devs for making a dragon that doesn't cater to my specific headcanons.

Here's a complete list of my complaints so far:
- I wish they had Glimmer.
- I wish they had Glowtail.
... End of list. =P

if you look at actual grubs / insect larvae / invertebrates with similar body plans a lot of them do have super reduced legs or no legs at all. i do for sure think it could've been cool to make them true wyrms without legs (they could've even used "proleg" as a gene to give them the legs) but the small legs is not really particularly disproportionate lol
