TOPIC | What's your clan's theme/vibe/aesthetic?
My aesthetic is what if I collected every pretty dragon that caught my eye and then ran out of space.
My new lore is cyberpunk. Set in a desert, but there's a massive underground city made of metal. Cables, pipes, turning gears, and of course, in the wealthy areas flashy screens and lights.
Outside this city is a giant dense slum with buildings made of improvised materials and everyone is on edge. Further out you get tiny metal shacks in the rural areas.
Far far out in the middle of the desert the aesthetic is different, the dragons live a subsistance life using pelts, bones, etc. Very down-to-earth.
Then there's the dragons who live on a massive colony ship in space and I haven't gotten that part set up too much yet, but there are also lunar mining colonies as well.
All of this exists between warzones where private militaries owned by trillion dollar (treasure?) corporations fight over resources and power
I forgot to describe what my lair looks like visually, oops.
I have a lot of black and cyan/black and other neon, and there are a lot of red/brown/other neutrals but otherwise I don't have consistant visuals

Seasons (especially Autumn!), dragons with the color Cherry, Blacklight glowy-looking dragons, and then random vibes haha
did someone want my madness combat brainrot? no? Too Bad You're Getting It
(visually, a whole lot of greyscale/neutral tones with bright red/pink/yellow/green accent colours, or dark blue and neon pink synthwave type colours instead. the general aim is somewhere between synthwave and cyberpunk with a touch of 1990s-ish internet.
don't ask me what the hell's going on with my preferred aesthetic. i don't know either.
anyways, if i can conjure the image of shiny new billboards and neon lights atop concrete and scrapmetal buildings that have stood for a good few decades or more, i will have achieved my goal)

honestly, i just like having variety. i want a dragon of every breed, every element, every pose, etc.
so my clans lore is just "these places are where anyone is welcomed, even if theyre an outcast or misfit of some sort."
i like the idea of having the clan reach out beyond just arcane though so ive got tabs dedicated to dragons in the earth clan, also connected to the arcane clan.
recently though i decided to make a circus troupe in plague for funsies. its still a WIP though.

It’s a little scattered, but it generally has a “natural” theme, with dragons that are camouflaged to fit different biomes or who resemble different types of organisms (animals, plants, fungi, etc.).
Setting-wise, it's a magitek/cyberpunk metropolis. (tfw you make your own lore before realizing "site lore" is a thing that exists)
Vibe-wise, I have a mix of character types. For more fantastical characters, I have a ruthless sovereign, a literal prince of darkness, a fae princeling, a squad of cybernetically enhanced supersoldiers, a necro-technomancer, and a lot of RPG-esque adventurers/warriors. But I also have a lot of dragons who are...just dudes. A package courier, a beekeeper, at least three private investigators, a hedge fund manager (who is funneling funds to a faction of insurrectionist extremists), a hermit who lives outside the city in a cave.
Aesthetically it's also a grab bag. I see a kind of dragon I don't have and I'm like "oh, I'll take one of those"

i want to be the most boring lair on this site, though im sure someone out there is repping a law firm or something and absolutely has me beat.

*looks at lawyer dragons, sweatdrops*
(specifically: partner in personal injury firm, associate in the same firm, corporate counsel for an insurance company who is having an affair with the previous dragon)

Uhh *looks at lair* vibrant colors? I go by what I like, with many old additions just having become ingrained part of my clan, I could never part no matter how beautiful or not beautiful I find them. There are actually a couple base rules for what I do tend to adopt/buy/go for, though.
Beside the majority of colorful strong colors, and I also want edgy bois and gurls and black/white aesthetics. So there's in-official sub-sections, I also tend to make a bit of a color gradient in how I order them in my tabs.
A few paler dragons are thrown in there at the end as its own thing, but pastels do not work. Anything too pretty doesn't work. I feel they should represent me or my vibe well enough, and pastel or too pretty isn't it.
I think my main rule is that I like them to be simple and reading well when viewed in lair overview as well as in single-dragon view. Anything that only looks good up close I do not like that much. During my play time, I have come from not wanting to dress my dragons at all to wanting to dress them in simple easy-to-read forms, it also allows for many UMAs to work better, too.
I still mostly dislike anything that makes my dragons read as not dragon (hello UMAs and skins.. also hello me buying some because it looks cool but I could never use it orz). I guess that's partly why I am not super warming up to Undertides and Aethers, though certain genes do look wonderful. (and why I cannot like Pearlcatchers. They just.. look like worse horses with wings. Horses are lovely, dragons are awesome, but I can appreciate neither in them. Hatchlings look great, though!)
I am very close to opening a tree section to honor my Nature flight, since I already adopted two Veilspuns on a fly. It might just turn into a Homm3 fan dragon tab, since they reminded me of Fortress (my beloved <3) and Rampart.
And as a lil final bit : free or cheap dragons just have extra sentimental value, mostly because I adopted them from fellow players or had them gifted. 2 of my gen1s were gifted eggs, and that's what makes them special to me. I am too conscious of my money to hatch eggs by myself (my first one not-withstanding <3 proud hatch)
